Riddick Bowe
Recently we were lucky enough to have tickets for the Independent Boxing Association Show at The Circus Tavern. Nice to just have a night out and a few beers but as expected it didn't quiet go like that. On the card was former Heavyweight Champion of the World Riddick Bowe against Stuart Livermore in an Exhibition Bout. Packing no serious camera I cracked out the Android as Dan negiociated entry to the locker room. After a bit of banter with the champ I cranked up the fast dying phone while Dan fired the questions. It  was very dark and noisy but we got something which you will see shortly.

Former two time heavyweight boxing champion of the world Riddick Bowe is looking for a new career as a wrestler.

Bowe who is aged 46 from Brooklyn, New York has a pro record of 42 fights with only 2 losses. He went down in history for being the first man to defeat Evander Holyfield . He then went on to to KO Holyfield in a later fight. As an amateur he won the prestigious New York Golden Gloves Championship.

We recently got to interview Bowe at an I.B.A. ( Independent Boxing Association) fight night in Essex where he was competing in an exhibition bout he said

"I love England it would be cool to live here. I love the IBA show its been awesome to fight in Essex"

What was his most memorable moment in boxing I asked

"The Holyfield fights are my best memory that was a great time for me"

I then asked about the 1988 Olympics where he lost 1st place to Lennox Lewis who was then fighting under the Canadian team he said

"Do you know Lennox, please hook me up a rematch with him"

At this point he did not reveal to us his ambition to become a wrestler it was after he arrived back in the States he revealed his ambition to go into the business. He tweeted wrestlers such as Impacts Robbie E, W.W.E. star Mark Henry, Tommy Dreamer, Triple H and the legendary Iron Sheik.

He has had interest from a promotion in the States called WFX Wrestling and also according to one source some UK promotions are interested but it is not yet clear who the promotions are. Tommy Dreamer has offered to train Bowe for free.

W.W.E. have had Tyson and Ali at shows over the years and Impact recently introduced former UFC fighters Tito Ortiz and Rampage Jackson on the shows as a build up to them fighting on Bellator which is shown on the same TV network.

How will Bowe do and where will he wrestle, only time will tell.
