The Jobber Blogger #135 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 19/11/14

Jobber Blogger logo2Well isn’t this something huh? Uncharted territory for TNA. Yup, I get two weeks off! How about that.

Though on one hand that sounds rather daunting and I’ve not written The Jobber Blogger every week since… before it even started. That’s some kind of astrophysics nonsense right there!

But alas, I am only taking the break purely because TNA don’t have any more Tapings to run.

This week’s episode of Impact was the last episode of Impact to ever air on Spike TV.

But what they are doing is a series of Clip Shows highlighting some of the best action from 2014.

Which actually is quite exciting in itself, but this means I can actually get my head round to looking at my own “Best of 2014” article, so it’s all good… in the hood.

goodinthehoodHad to be done…. I didn’t make it though.

But worry not you crazy TNA fans, because TNA have a new home set for 2015 with Destination America!

Woop!

Yes Destination America is in parts connected to Discovery I believe, and given that they run EY’s “Off the Hook” it’s clear sailing for the next few years.

It’s either a 2 year or 3 year deal they’ve signed, but Impact isn’t out of business. In fact, quite the opposite.

Dixie apparently didn’t want to sign just any new deal, she held out to get MORE TNA than just Impact.

Extra shows, like an American Bootcamp perhaps, or dare I say it, a second TNA show a week, because Impact is great, but TNA is packed with stars and potential stories that don’t get covered every week.

Either way, it’s exciting times. Apparently TNA are hitting 2015 with a complete overhaul, new logo, new graphics, and now they have a Television Deal they can finally get Wrestlers signed long term.

So yes, I am excited for the future of TNA.

Which brings me to one of the reasons I don’t rate WrestleZone as an editorial based website.

Comments like “TNA is the biggest joke in the Wrestling industry”.

I don’t get that.

Now don’t get me wrong, TNA is full of flaws, trust me, you can 134 issues of The Jobber Blogger and I’ll detail them all every week.

But TNA is also a company that takes risks, albeit a smaller group of risks recently, playing more to “what worked” before and trying to pull some momentum from the WWE. It’s not like WWE is the legit Wrestling programme either, seems to me they put their foot wrong more than TNA do.

Still TNA carries with it this theme that people think it’s a joke. For me, as a Wrestling fan, I love TNA. I think TNA has lost its way the last few years and it doesn’t seem to quite feel as proud of itself as it once did, and as a fan who wears the TNA logo on his shirts with pride, that pride has slipped because of it.

It does feel that every time I write The Jobber Blogger I end most of my rants and thoughts with “I hope”.

And I’m sick of hoping and TNA not delivering, but now the ball is firmly in their court, they have a brand new deal, and by the sounds of it they are not going to let this opportunity slip by.

So 2015 should be very interesting indeed for us TNA fans.

bootcampredline

I actually quite like throwing in a little Write up about Bootcamp every week. Though by the time anyone reads this the latest episode of Bootcamp will have aired and my ramblings are about the previous week.

This was “filler” week. A program about them travelling to America, sure it gave us a little bit of an insight to the guys behind the Wrestling persona.

Compared to the roll Bootcamp was on, this took a step back, but I understand why. Given what next’s week show is going to be about, then I am on board.

All this show did for me was make me dislike Grado, a lot.

I wasn’t keen on him to start with, I don’t think he’s got anything going for him outside from some crowd support, but he’s not “impressive”.

Seeing him drinking and picking his nose, PICKING HIS NOSE, constantly. Nope.

Don’t like him.

And that’s it really, he seemed like a bit of a mess and picked his nose all the time, and I don’t want to see him anymore. Kay Lee Ray for the win!

kayleeray

lucha-underground-tnaredlineAnd of course, before I jump right into IMPACT, one of my main thoughts about TNA taking some time off and running a clip show, is that there is a new Show in town, and it’s awesome.

The more time TNA have off, the more it plays in the favour of Lucha Underground.

It’s a fantastic show, I can’t get enough of it. Of course it amplifies some of Wrestling’s stupidity, Wrestlers seem to have this idea that they are “good actors” because they act in Wrestling. Difference is they don’t act well. Some are good, most are not. My point is that when you take a show like Lucha which creates these awesome Cinematic backstage segments, and you then fill it with the stars who can’t at all, it’s an awesome looking but cringe worthy amateur film.

Regardless, Lucha is refreshing, intense and completely awesome. I love it. Highly recommend.

Impact Wrestling Logo

bluelineTNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 19/11/14

So yes, the last TNA Impact Wrestling show of the year, and at the time perhaps the last Impact show as we knew it. But as I stated above, TNA seems to be kicking it into a new gear for 2015.

Which is good news, as Impact opened with Bobby Roode – fresh off his “promotional” week, funny how they couldn’t get him booked for one show out of 6 possible days.

I’m not even going to get into it anymore, I give up.

Anyway!

Roode was fired up from the actions of Lashley last week, but to dance around the subject rather than go in face first, Roode gave us all a speech about how everybody in the world has a friend!

FanhebnerThat guy doesn’t have a friend.

But yes, Lashley beat up EY last week and now Roode is furious.

So out came Lashley and they went at it. Truth be told, I liked the setting of this fight, I’m sick to death of the security running in to break up every fight, that’s a terrible idea, especially when it so over used like TNA do.

However this week felt right, the grudge between Lashley and Roode feels right and them going at it in the crowd looked awesome.

We’ve been promised Roode vs. Lashley match number 3. Now here me out, if TNA sign Lashley to a long term contract, then I want Lashley to destroy Roode. Roode is my guy, I love him to bits. But if Lashley is going to stick around in TNA for the foreseeable future – which I hope he is, they have one shot to do this right, in my eyes. Now obviously make it extremely hard fought, but Roode only just beat him to win the title in the first place.

Now Lashley is ticked off and charging through guys, he dominated Aries and beat him down, it was awesome. Roode should take Lashley to his limits, but Lashley should prevail. That’s what I want.

But, if they go with Roode retaining, then I want Storm to bloody up Roode and take the World Championship.

Either option is good, but Roode holding the belt for a long run, I’m not as keen on currently. But then I just prefer Heel Champions, and I like long runs with Championships, usually on Heel Champions.

Who knows, I don’t care, more TNA! Just do a good job and I’m happy… Do my idea, and I’m ecstatic!

bluelineTaryn Terrell vs. Gail Kim vs. Havok – Knockouts Championship

The story of this match is that neither Taryn or Gail could have possibly defeated Havok unless they both took her out, and even that was a challenge.

Now I like that about Havok, her look and persona, I’m not 100% on board with, but I like it enough to be interested.

Taryn is my least favourite though, but she has my respect, hard working and hard hitting, and that puts the Knockouts and Women’s Wrestling in general on a scale I love to support, I can’t say a credible thing about Women’s wrestling if it was an ordinary Diva’s match. Even some years ago…. maybe more so some years ago.

But the Knockouts, they back it up, and I love it. Hence Kay Lee Ray being my favourite, I want more of it, I want them in the main events more, I love that. Gail and Taryn have pushed further with Women’s wrestling in recent years, and it’s awesome to see. Havok adds to that perfectly given her pure size and power, throwing Gail and Taryn face first into the steps and guard rail respectively from her shoulders, cringing sight.

Though I think Havok’s slam to Gail on the floor was the worst.

Either way this was one of the best matches through-out 2014 for the Knockouts, one of the best, I have my own personal favourites. A category I’m still toying with for my “Best of 2014” article.

Gail and Taryn both dived from the top rope taking out Havok twice with Cross-Bodies, a Eat Defeat and Cutter later and Havok was out of the picture.

Gail went for a Roll-Up on Taryn which was counted giving Taryn the win.

Given the contract status of Havok, I’d say a Taryn vs. Havok match would be in the pipeline, and honestly I don’t see how Taryn could win in that situation – believably.

I had a feeling Taryn would pick up the win, and though she was my least favourite in the match, I guess it feels right. I’d rather her have the belt than Gail have another reign so quickly. Of course I’d rather Havok retained. But then that’s a whole other rant.

tarynwinblueline

Kenny King vs. Chris Malendez

Having Malendez on a flagship show of a network called “Destination America” is no bad thing.

However I just can’t get into Malendez. I knew I would have difficulty going in, he is fantastic, impressive, inspiring, all the things he should be. More so for how he dealt with his injury and rose above it to achieve his dreams regardless.

That is awesome.

But is he presented as awesome, he still carries this “you can’t do that” attitude whilst he competes. People will naturally look at it differently given his condition, but then it’s Wrestling, it’s not Ballet as the saying goes, for surely someone in his position to get into a Company that is so competitive as it is, let alone with a physical set back like he might have, naturally people are going to exploit it.

Just by looking at it, it seems like he doesn’t belong. This isn’t me saying he doesn’t belong, I’m talking in terms of how Wrestling is portrayed as a form of entertainment, then of course the guys in the back are going to single him out. He can’t compete on the basic level with them, let alone in the Main Events. That sort of attitude, but yet given his situation it feels as if Wrestlers treating him like that is a bad thing, but it’s not. It’s totally normal and deserving.

My point being since his debut which was hyped up, I’ve not seen Malendez do anything. Now this is booking, nothing more. But you can’t tell me how good he is, then show me nothing that solidifies that.

He hasn’t won, he’s been beaten up a lot, and now he’s got his ass kicked. Yes he’s impressive and done some things I wouldn’t expect, but he’s not actually done more than that. So I’m not siding with him currently.

Could change.

MVP showed up and beat down Malendez with a chair. As my previous rant, I like Heels, so I am naturally drawn to that, so yes, MVP attacking Malendez with a chair wins me over. So perhaps my perspective is vastly different from those who might prefer the faces.

Anderson ran out to his aid, but Malendez is injured.

Ethan Carter the Third called out Rockstar Spud and I loved this segment!

I like EC3 enough, I like much better than I did a year ago, now Spud was awesome, he was the saviour of TNA for quite some time. I’m sure everyone was sick of Dixie, but having Spud out there was brilliant, made it all worth it. I’m still not convinced this Face turn will hold up to what people like about Spud, but I’m hoping it will.

This however, goes a long way to making that so. I said some weeks back, when Spud and EC3 actually square off, Spud should get his ass kicked.

Now before I go off about what I liked from this segment, I shall state that I laughed a fair bit to the comment from EC3 about JB:

ec3slap

I know I shouldn’t have found that funny, but I did… a lot.

Spud power walked out and kicked EC3 in the nuts and it was on. Both EC3 and Spud had some battle scars afterwards, but the pair of them made it feel much more real, more so than even the likes of Roode and Lashley.

EC3 just pummelled Spud into the ground – violently.

Tyrus then joined in and EC3 then cut Spud’s silly hair.

It was disrespectful and degrading, but awesome. Spud needs that. If Spud is looked at as a real threat, he loses his appeal. If he can fight, but lose, he retains that quality we like so much.

In this case, people will warm to him more so, not to mention maybe even put over EC3 in a more legit light.

Good stuff!

bluelineTommy Dreamer vs. Bram – No DQ

Given the benefits to TNA by being on a Channel titled “Destination America” I do wonder about TNA’s global reach.

Magnus, Bram, “The Freak”, Spud, Bootcamp 2. British.

TNA is a proud Worldwide show which I’m sure won’t be a problem, in fact I guess it might even help, if Magnus was the Champion again, that would certainly annoy some people.

Or a lot of people, but I meant because he was an Englishman, not because he wasn’t a great Champion. We’ve had a lot of World Champs this year. AJ, Magnus, EY, Lashley and Roode. AJ was still in TNA at the start of the year, how crazy is that. So was Sting. Sad times.

Anyway, back to the match.

Despite my recent dislike of “that era” coming around “again” in TNA, I didn’t mind it as much this week.

I think Dreamer on his own is a good thing, plus he himself doesn’t seem to hold onto ECW, I love that he pushes TNA, even if the crowd aren’t as much into it.. which makes, less sense?

Bram and Dreamer put on a brutal, hard hitting match, shame Magnus got involved again, I was feeling a turn coming, either he on Bram, or Bram on Magnus. But no, just the surprise involvement of Al Snow.

Which was cool to see, Al seems in a much different place these days to where he used to be, and he’s in great shape, so that’s all good.

I still think Bram should win all of these matches.

Luckily he did defeat Dreamer after throwing him head first into the Chair wrapped in Barbed-wire then connecting a Jumping DDT for the win.

bluelineDJ Z vs. Tigre Uno vs. Manik vs. Low Ki – X-Division Championship

I am unsure of why Joe was written out with injury. Must be some kind of Contract / Money reason, rather than purely Storyline.

I don’t need to say it again of how much I love Tigre Uno? Or do I? Because he is awesome.

All of these guys are awesome and had a fantastic X-Division Match. I think it was fairly obvious where the Belt would go, which only means Low Ki and Samoa Joe are going to keep this thing going a little longer, which honestly I’d rather it wind down, than gear up again.

I think Manik taking the gold would make more sense, but of course I want more Uno, but whatever.

Low Ki hits a Top-Rope Ki-Crusher on Uno and takes the win and becomes the new X-Division Champion.

bluelineLast week I said the “Next Week on Impact Wrestling” segment at the end of the show actually got me excited! And it was because of MVP attacking Kurt, we didn’t know it was Kurt, but who else would it have been?

MVP beat down Kurt in the back earlier on in the night, but Kurt then took to the ring to Call out MVP.

MVP is livid, sick of this place and how it operates, which is good, I like this MVP. It didn’t take long till MVP and Angle were exchanging blows which was almost weird to see. This is Kurt Angle after all, but he being out of action and also dressing Smarter for some reason makes him feel less – Wrestler orientated and less ring ready.

Anderson ran out to get revenge on King and MVP for their attack on Malendez, Bobby Lashley came out to help out MVP and King – which is awesome in itself, I don’t want them to break up. And of course Roode came out to battle Lashley.

So yes, we’ve seen this time and time again, but given that this was the last show for at least a Month, it had more meaning in it.

I want things to be changed up, take MVP and Angle out of the ownership position, I don’t even want a Director as an on air character anymore. Least not like it has been for soooo manny yearrrrs!

It just felt good, and again, totally looking forward to TNA in 2015!

So for now, that is the end of The Jobber Blogger for a while I guess…. I don’t think I will be Writing up a Clip show?

I don’t know yet, see what happens.

I shall get to work on the “Best of 2014” Article and hope everyone has a good few weeks!

Till then!

The Jobber Blogger #134 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 12/11/14

Jobber-Blogger

The Jobber Blogger

Well it’s Saturday evening and I’ve got plans for Tomorrow, so we’re going to Jobber Blogger it up!

You know what I’ve been thinking, what am I going to do with my life? Sure I have a good full time job, but who knows what will happen in the future right? They might sell the company, they might need to reduce costs. My job could be rapidly reduced and I wouldn’t be in control of it. That makes you think that I should spread my wings and start looking for other opportunities. After all I’m not getting any young… currently, unless my Vanilla Tea has an awesome side effect. Least when I’m much older, I’d like to think maybe 87, 88 years old, then I can start back tracking and getting younger again.

Ah, what would life be like?

Anyway, that’s a slight tangent. This got me thinking to what it is “I” want to do with my life. The short answer, I guess would be Writing. My list of interests, passions and not to be big headed, but skills, go from Writing to Graphic Design, Film, Editing, Music, Drawing. It’s a fairly lengthy list. If I haven’t mentioned it before then I did actually try and make my own feature film, I went at it like no bodies business, but I got caught on certain setbacks and in the end it didn’t really amount to anything. Either way, Writing is at the core of it all. My quickest answer is Comic-books and Movies. That’s what I want to write, I love it. Now I do write in my spare time and I used to Write A LOT in my spare time, but spare time it much less …. spare.

Though my Blog IS my writing. I do this every week without fail, and I’m proud of it. But where has it got me? Sure it’s helped, sure it got me my current job, and continued work will no doubt pay off..right?

But is my Blog getting in the way of me Writing Scripts? Quite possible.

Either way, this intro is perhaps one of more “traditional bloggy” intro’s I’ve even written in The Jobber Blogger, so if you’ve read this, give me a shout out, leave a comment, that would be neat!

I guess what I was getting at, is that I do love the routine the Jobber Blogger has given me, and I am proud that I keep this up as I do, whether many people read it, though I know some do. Thank you to those who are loyal! Means a lot, I’d like to know who you are though!

Aside from Linda and Jon.

And we’re back!

Stopped for something to eat and then got watching Game Scoop…. and Video Reviews of Video Games! Ahh!

bootcamp

redline

I shall keep this short and sweet!

Boot Camp episode 4 was awesome! I loved it. Sure the matches were cut short due to time constraints and some of them felt rather heavily edited.

But the matches we saw unravel the best, were the best.

Trying to look back on it now, but a number of the matches were much better than the matches those had who got through.

For example, the opening match between Noam and El I don’t remember his name, was fantastic. I think in the end it comes down to this.

What does TNA need?

Which is a nice surprise. Given that the higher ups tend to shove as much talent into a Division that is already crammed full.

The high flyers were good for the X-Division, but are they needed? The mid carders were good, but nothing “special”.

I think they chose the best talent of the lot, despite Sha Samuels who didn’t make the cut, as I thought his intensity was on a much better level. I bought into him.

Grado is the sticking point. Because what we saw of his match, was nothing.

He did 3 clotheslines and won.

Literally.

The rest of the match he just put over Sha. Which is fine, part of Wrestling.

His skill is getting people behind him, but will that sell in America? How long will it last, and without the licence of Madonna’s music, who is going to sing?

For me, my favourite from the get go is still there, and only stronger now.

And that’s Kay Lee Ray.

She’s different, she’s excited, she’s passionate, and she’s a she!

TNA is packed full of guys, aside from lacking “Tag-Teams” the Knockouts Division would look lovely with some more talent that actually compete in it.

She’s perfect for that, so that’s where I stand!

Impact Wrestling Logoblueline

TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 12/11/14

Impact kicked off with James Storm and actually answered my question of “how would that work?” and did it well.

I am please that Storm is giving this Character his all, but it’s just… eh.

Shame we had to put up with Eddie and Davey fumbling around the Mic in this “story”. I know it was supposed to grab the audience, but really it little sense to have Davey even “consider” Storm’s words.

Whatever.

blueline

The Wolves vs. James Storm and Abyss – World Tag-Team Championships

Thankfully I seem to Love Violence. Least of the entertainment sort.

Storm used his Bull-Rope to tie Davey’s foot to the Ropes and repeatedly smashed a Chair and then a Briefcase onto Davey’s leg. Awesome.

Now I actually completely forgot that Storm still had the Feast of Fired Briefcase for a Shot at the World Tag-Team Championships.

So well done TNA, I wasn’t expecting that.

I knew Abyss and Storm won the belts, so I assumed Abyss would join Storm’s “revolution” but I couldn’t piece together how it was going to happen.

Now the Title Change apparently was due to The Wolves’ contracts being up soon, and without a New TV Deal in place, the Tag Belts were put on guys sticking around.

Funny that TNA, the TNA guys who have been with your company for the longest time are those who are still here, so you’re giving them the Belts, because they are loyal. Shame you only do it now, and not when it mattered…

I look at this in two ways, I’m excited to see if Abyss will have a “Change” like Sanada and Manik, I want Abyss to go crazy again, and it’s just not happened, at all since… years.

I’m sure that makes sense somewhere.

On the other side, are you as sick as I am that Abyss is always teaming up with somebody to be a Side-Kick for a while, before he finally breaks free and lets the Monster loose, then disappears to then re-appear as someone else’s sidekick.

Why doesn’t Abyss start a faction? That’d be different.

blueline

Madison vs. Taryn Terrell

To say they’ve been feuding a little back and forth, they built it to this match, and it was a clean win for the Face.

Which means is that the end of it?

Come to think of it, I’m sick of that too. The Face always chases the Heel, till the Face wins then it’s over. Why doesn’t the Heel win?

The only time I can think of that happening is WrestleMania 19 when Rock finally defeats Stone Cold at WrestleMania.

And that was great, from what I remember.

Madison vs. Taryn though, was very good.

They’re both good Wrestlers, though I’m more of a Madison guy.

Taryn picked up the win with a Cutter. Least it was slightly better by elevating Madison off the ropes beforehand.

blueline

Kenny King took to the Ring to explain MVP was having a Photo Shoot. And should you be interested in those pictures, then I have an exclusive!

mvpphotoshootna

King then went on about Lashley, MVP and himself being a strong unit. Which I hope they remain to be.

Chris Malendez and Mr. Anderson come out to answer King’s Challenge of a one-on-one match between King and Malendez.

In this situation though King and Anderson stand out stronger. I like Anderson’s position, and I love King’s sucker-punch to Anderson.

Sorry Malendez.

blueline

Jesse, DJZ, Angelina Love and Velvet Sky vs. Knux, Crazy Steve and Rebel – Tag-Team – Handicap – Elimination

You might be asking yourself, what was the point in this match?

It’s a good question.

They started feuding months ago, it grew because of Robbie E’s fear of clowns, which led to him leaving for a while, to coming back, to leaving for more.

And it’s still ongoing. Not even an end in sight.

All this match did was put over Crazy Steve. Which is great, but shame for them not to put him over until it was obvious he was a fan-favourite.

Jesse is probably the most forgetful guy on the roster for me. I honestly forget he’s around.

I love Robbie E, and I think he and Jesse work brilliantly together as The Bromans, sucks they aren’t in the Tag-Title picture to be fair.

But one thing you rarely see, is why Jesse is on the Roster. In this match, against Crazy Steve, he showed some great potential.

It’s a side of him we barely see, so perhaps that should be focussed on, I’m up for having Jesse one on one with Crazy Steve. blueline

Storm Slapped Manik for introducing him to big Indian guy!

stormmanikrevolutiontna

blueline

Tyrus (w/EC3) vs. Eric Young (w/Spud)

I’ve suddenly lost interest in Writing this.

Spud is certainly stepping up, and so far people are responding to it. To be fair I am actually looking forward to Spud vs. EC3, whenever it happens.

The idea of having Tyrus in TNA long time doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Clearly, I don’t know anything.

But with him losing, one would imagine EC3 would turn on him fairly quick, EC3 probably win, Tyrus fired. Something along those lines… “insert Gene Snitsky line here”.

The good news is that Lashley beat the crap out of EY, finally.

Austin Aries ran to the rescue and Challenged Lashley to a match in the Main Event.

blueline

For some reason Samoa Joe was “injured” last week and has relinquished the X-Division Championship.

No, this makes no sense.

I don’t know what the point of this is, I’m guessing the belt is going with Low Ki. But hey, Tigre Uno gets the job of being a filler.

I’m still hoping he goes into Storm’s revolution.

Or as I said last week, goes to compete for Lucha Underground, which is the best solution.

Also whilst on the topic I haven’t seen this week’s episode yet… and yes, it’s bugging me!

lucha-underground-tna blueline

Samuel Shaw (w/ Brittany) vs. Gunner – No DQ

So this a weird one.

Gunner and Shaw, I don’t really care. I didn’t dislike watching it unfold by any means, but I don’t really care.

Between the two of them, Shaw is far more interesting to watch. I think Gunner is full of potential, but he’s not going anywhere. He’s the same as he was. So he’s good.. but he’s not really, must see.

I do think he’s capable of it, I just think he needs a good Gimmick, a good Character to get behind. I’d like Gunner to be committed, Gunner vs. Shaw in a Committed match like Shaw had with Anderson, only Shaw won.

Gunner forced to stay in a padded cell, send him insane, bring back some “war memories”. That would be a cool character. Just saying.

My original point was that Gunner and Shaw on the surface as a storyline, not that compelling. But boy did they have a great match. And Gunner brought it.

Almost straight from the Superplex onto the Chairs, with Brittany screaming for Shaw, Gunner just pulled him out and Power-Bombed him onto the stairs. Was awesome.

I expected Shaw to take a win honestly, but it was Gunner who defeated Shaw.

I actually hope this isn’t the end of their feud, and I really like my story idea for Gunner… do that.

blueline

Lashley vs. Austin Aries

So Lashley was pissed off because MVP was at a photo shoot, and Roode had the night off for promotional reasons.

Either that or this happened…

mvproodetnaMaybe that’s why Lashley is so annoyed?

Anyway!

I love that Lashley is finally the Destroyer he should have been originally when he had the World Championship.

Aries is the best guy to go through, because he’s going to stick up for guys, but he’s also the best Wrestler on the Roster, if Lashley dominates him, then who else can stop him?

I love that this “match” just turned into Lashley beating down on Aries.

Spear on the outside to a Count Out, then a Powerslam on the Ramp and a Cross-face to send a message.

Solid main event.

Can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to Lashley just beating people up. That’s if he actually continues to do it, rather than it being a One Off. blueline

I’ve never been more excited for the next episode of Impact like I was when this ended. The “Next Week on Impact Wrestling” segment actually made me think Taped Television is worth the effort.

The Lashley and Roode confrontation looks good, but as you’d expect.

I love the clip of MVP beating up someone backstage with King asking him “why?”.

Now I’m fairly sure who it is, but I love it when things get shaken up!

Till next time!

The Jobber Blogger – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 5/11/14

jobber blogger bonfireYup, that’s about as exciting as it gets.

I went to a Bonfire. It was a little one behind a local Pub, I watched it from a Distance…. was nice. Then went home.

Number One Hundred and Thirty Three! Good old #133 – reminds me of nothing.

You know, I’m struggling with TNA these days. It seems of late, though their program is usually fairly solid, and despite the odd expectation, it’s just a little… boring.

I’m not bored watching it, but my enthusiasm for the product is drifting. But then, as I constantly moan about, I’m sure that’s down to the fact it’s Taped. It doesn’t feel right, least not what we’re used to.

Which is an interesting and also non relevant thing, given what I will talk about in a minute.

I suppose when I pull it apart, TNA is pretty good. Bobby Roode is champ, The Hardyz are competing, the Tag-Team Tournament was awesome. I like the direction of the Knockouts currently, though a little more than just Havok would be nice, granted Madison and Taryn are feuding, but it’s taken a huge back seat to Havok.

Whilst on the topic of the Knockouts, I miss Brooke – Tessmacher that is, not Hogan.

She did an interview recently about being more involved with TNA again next year. Hopefully The Amazing Race will bring Brooke and Robbie E over as an on-air couple when it’s all finished.

I’ve never watched it, I don’t even know what it is…. I’m guessing their Racing? And that it probably isn’t as Amazing as the name implies.

Anyway, lets break down TNA Impact when I get to Impact.

redlinebootcampLet’s talk about British Bootcamp.

I mentioned Episode 1 two weeks back, but then I hadn’t got round to watching Episode 2 in time for last week’s Jobber Blogger. So now I’m up to date with all 3 episodes watched by my eyes.

Currently, Boot Camp is more exciting to me than Impact.

Should that be possible?

Episode 2 was alright, the high light was obviously that Andrews chap whose name I’ve gotten… aside from the Andrews part.

Episode 3 however brought it up a notch, everyone was good. I’m glad they are all going through to this week’s (tonight’s) show.

The idea of all of them competing on a Card, that’s awesome! So yeah, I’m pumped. I don’t know who I’m rooting for. I guess Grado has the advantage as obviously all that mess was a work.

I say obviously… it seems obvious to me, but then I could be wrong. Probably not though.

It’s this weird “Reality” meets “Wrestling” that never quite feels right.

TNA try their hand at it all the time, but it leaves far too many problems and plot holes… like the stars watching the product.

Which brings me to the thing I’m most excited to talk about!

redlinelucha-underground-tna

Oh yes!

I am Biased! Granted, anything Rodriguez has his name on, I’m excited for.

I don’t know how much input he has on Lucha Underground, but it sings with his influence, or least the influence of the Mexican culture.

I’ve been looking forward to watching this for ages, it’s debut last week in America actually took me by surprise, I didn’t think it was so close to coming out.

But it’s hitting a lot of the Wrestling News and it’s viewership in just one week jumped 163%.

Ladies and Gentleman – It’s Good!

Now I don’t if we’re all excited because it’s something new?

Because not only is it something “new” but it’s something totally different for a Wrestling show. It’s got a good budget, it looks and feels like parts of my WCW memories.

It’s got new faces, and it’s got a whole Wrestling Legacy and Culture that rarely gets showcased to the level it’s capable of. That being Lucha Libre.

What is vastly different, is it’s a Television show, and it knows it.

Every single segment is beautifully shot, not always beautifully acted, it still has Wrestlers in it. But it’s Cinematic. It’s exciting.

It’s Storyline driven and already feels like it’s got an “arc” in place.

Also it made me like Chavo Guerrero! I’ve never liked Chavo Guerrero!

It’s got balls, it’s got direction, it’s got vision.

And above all else, it’s got Wrestling.

Matt Striker stole a good TNA quote “I dare you to tune into any other Wrestling promotion and find action like this”.

Hey TNA, now you need to compete with Lucha Underground, because Mundo and Puma, that’s the level the bar is now set at. And you are a long, long way from reaching it.

Something anyone who reads my ramblings will be familiar with is my love for Tigre Uno!

tigre uno fn

He is fantastic, and impresses me every single time I see him compete, which bugs me because TNA have done nothing to help him out.

Every time he has a match, or isn’t used, I moan about TNA using him better.

Hey, there is now a solution, which from now on, I shall use.

Release Tigre Uno.

Let him go to Lucha Underground and perform on that level, because he can, and that would be amazing.

Without turning this into a new blog about Lucha Underground, I will end it by saying I hope they keep fresh faces, I don’t want a lot of well known stars turning up. There are of course some exceptions. First and foremost – AJ Styles.

Global Force Wrestling is heating up too, and I’m excited to watch that. But right now, Lucha is doing something Wrestling shows have never been able to do.

And it’s Freakin Working!

blueline

Impact Wrestling LogoTNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 5/11/14

That might be the longest Intro to The Jobber Blogger in #133 issues.

It is tradition to start the show with a new Heavyweight Champion. Unless you’re the WWE and your Heavyweight Champions only compete 8 times a year.

But I digress.

Kurt Angle introduced Bobby Roode.

We’ve not had Roode as World Champion with his “Off the Chain” entrance theme, it matches.

Roode has always looked good with the World Title, and no that’s not taking it lightly, I think the TNA World Championship is a pretty bad design. I don’t hate it, I think it’s a little over the top and garish though. Not to mention it’s Too Big for most guys who have held it. It’s far too long in length and leaves the silly floppy strap at the back.

Yeah I’m picky. So what.

Roode now being World Champ actually feels like it matters. It’s not like Lashley has had a bad run at all, but Roode just seems to carry himself better. Or TNA least want to invest more time into him.

Saying that, AJ Styles taking the belt from Bully Ray and leaving TNA with it, that was far better. Well, only if you look past the fact that he never came back that is.

Tenay and Taz went on and on about how Lashley deserves a Re-match. Being such a dominant Champion. Which is laying the ground for a Face turn surely.

Because in my eyes, as a fan. Does Lashley deserve a Re-match? Me personally, I’d say yes, but that’s because I like him. Given that he was throwing out Low-Blows and Belt Shots last week, and that he’s won multiple times from the help from MVP and King. No, probably not.

What TNA is doing with Havok, is how Lashley should have been World Champ. It just didn’t quite work out that way.

MVP got on Roode’s case and offered up a Challenge of Roode vs. MVP for the World Championship. To which Angle said, and I quote “Roode, would you mind putting the Belt on the line?”

I get it, he’s words are not meant to be taken literal, but a few weeks back Angle himself told Lashley “it is your job do defend the belt whenever and wherever”. So in my eyes, “would you mind” doesn’t come into it.

Do I analyse this too much?

blueline

Samoa Joe and Low Ki vs. The Hardyz – Tag-Team Tournament – Finals

As much as I like Low Ki’s abilities, his presence, his entrance and how he carries himself. I hate, Hate, his promos.

He sounds ridiculous.

I said this before, but when he is next to Joe, it’s the dumbest thing you can possibly hear. Joe is fluent in the Promo language. He gets it, he’s wordy, intimidating, electric, dark, whatever he needs to be. Low Ki sounds like a $50 budget Mortal Kombat voice actor.

The intro package to this match which bounced back from Joe’s speeches to Low Ki’s, was hilariously dreadful.

Aside from that opening rant, I only wrote down that I love Matt’s Side-Effect move.

I’ve loved it since he brought it into his arsenal, it’s an awesome manoeuvre.

Anyone who knows me, knows I love Tag-Team Wrestling, so this has been an awesome and surprising tournament.

Surprising because I actually didn’t think The Hardyz would win.

For me, they should win, because of who they are, what they’ve accomplished and how good they are as a team, especially given the experience factor along between them and their opponents.

But given that they’ve fought the Wolves before, then took part in the Tag-Team series and lost on all occasions, I just didn’t think they’d be getting through to Round three.

But here we are, so I am looking forward to it. I just feel with Storm’s involvement with Richards, it’s probably going to be a more sucky kind of story match.

Who knows.

blueline

Samuel Shaw and Brittany took to the ring… to do… something.

I’ve never liked Shaw’s attempt of a beard, being so thin and fuzzy, it just looked… horrible. But eliminating it to have a creepy porn star moustache. Yup, that’s worse.

And it didn’t stop there, Brittany was swinging on it, pulling it around, then pulling his mouth around and licking it. I didn’t need to see that.

Gunner obviously got involved, and resorted straight to bad mouthing Shaw and digging up the old “Creepy Bastard” chant.

Funny how Gunner went from being all noble, to verbally attacking him over someone else’ influence. You’d think given Gunner’s background in the Military and experience dealing with problematic individuals, who’d do less to attack them, and more to help them.

But then, it is Wrestling.

I don’t really care where this goes. Shaw is better the crazier he is, and Brittany just helps that. Gunner will just drift on to remain Gunner. The only reason I’d be more interested in this development is if Anderson gets involved again.

blueline

TNA’s got a Brand New Star.

See you later Chris Malendez and say Hello to Mahogany Simba!

tna simba

It’s true, I have no idea what his name is, so I just wrote down what sound as similar and also made me laugh a little.

I’m a professional don’t you know.

So far I’m not all that impressed. He’s a big Indian guy with Boobs, let’s see what happens when he gets in the ring.

tna-simba2Much Better

Suicide was a cool character, good look, nice colours, awesome mask, great entrance music. Then he became Manik, most of that carried over.

Now he’s heel – super shinny blue Manik, whose new mask lets him talk… and he walks up to people like Simba and say “Sup, my Dude”.

tna-manik-sup

Does he look like a guy who says “Sup, My Dude?”

Well that Characters gone down the drain. What’s intimidating about that.

blueline

Bram and Magnus vs. Devon and Tommy Dreamer – Hardcore Rules

You know what, I’m not even going to bother really spending much time on this match.

I’m not a fan.

One thing I did like, was the ending, only because it actually surprised me. In terms of how it came to a close.

Bram went through a Table, which happened quicker than I thought, also I was fairly sure he was the only one who wouldn’t end up going through a Table.

Then the best bit being Magnus thrown into the corner which had a Bin wedged into the Ropes, he Leap Frogged back only to get a Low-Blow then shoved face first into the bin. I didn’t expect it, was good.

Dreamer hit a DDT right after and took the Win.

I think Bram will probably continue from this, hopefully, after he defeating Abyss so many times, losing to the likes of Dreamer and Devon seems unlikely.

Even though they might be the legends, Abyss’ onslaught is far deadlier.

So I would take a guess that “Magnus” will be the weak link in Bram’s defeat.

blueline

Spud had a little segment, I’m not sold on Spud’s face turn yet. I don’t think he’s reach much potential as a Face. What made him so great was being a heel. I always find the kind of character Spud was, is completely gone when he’s a face. Now he’s willing to fight, and Wrestling, and doing honourable things. It was funnier when he didn’t. Now he’s just like everyone else? Only less impressive?

Don’t get me wrong though, I do like Spud.

His Speech was good. So good that it brought out EC3 and Tyrus. Now, I’m fairly sure Spud won’t be the one to defeat EC3, but he might. I would hate that too.

Either way, Tyrus back when he was Brodus mentioned that the “Funkasaurus” gimmick wasn’t quite what he had in mind. I liked it, personally. But he didn’t want to do that. So here in TNA, I’m guessing he’s currently being more like who he wants to be…

tna-ec3-tyrusShould someone tell him that’s a Woman’s top?… He’s got the necklace and everything.

EC3 slapped JB, EY got involved. blah blah blah sums it up nicely.

blueline

Gail Kim vs. Havok – Knockouts Championship

I seem to be picking on Commentary and the rules between Good Guys and Bad Guys too much, but it’s never bugged me to this level before.

Gail came out fighting, but Havok took control. They fought up the Ramp where Gail kicked Havok closer and closer to the edge of the Stage, she then ran attempted to Kick her off the stage, Havok grabbed Gail’s foot then threw Gail off the stage instead. To which Tenay says “she threw her off the stage …. what a monster!”

Despite the fact Gail tried her best to Kick Havok off the stage mere seconds prior… but that’s fine. Because she’s a “Good Guy” and Havok beats her up.

What?

Winds me up!

wind up complain

Everyone rushes to Gail’s aid, but yet she continues! Usual crap.

What wasn’t usual was Havok throwing Gail from her shoulders face first onto the Steps. That looked painful… and awesome.

I was expecting Gail to pull off an upset, which I would have hated. But Havok kept toying with her, to which I fully expected Gail to take advantage of. Same old, same old.

Thankfully Havok caught Gail finally and dropped her with a Chokeslam for the win.

Good match. While I don’t really buy into Gail’s “injury” stuff, so therefore I wasn’t exactly rooting for her, but it was a good match. I just wanted Havok to win. I found Gail wasn’t constantly selling the abuse she took, which did stand out a little to me. But who cares.

blueline

MVP vs. Bobby Roode – World Heavyweight Championship

You know how I started this with “Roode looks good with the Belt”. Where it doesn’t look good with his horrible crappy plastic pimp coat.

It looked good with his Robe. Why ditch the Robe?

Robe or nothing. Wear a T-shirt to the ring, that looks good too.

I have no idea why he thinks this coat is a good thing, it looks horrible.

Lashley and MVP had a little chat backstage, obviously Lashley is supposed to be annoyed that he’s not got a Re-match and MVP positioned himself into a match instead.

I’d rather it look like that yet Lashley came out and beat up Roode with MVP and it was all a plan to wear him down.

But no, MVP and Roode had a decent match which Roode won with a Roode Bomb. A straight forward, clean match.

I also still hate the name “Roode Bomb”.

Lashley then turned up and Speared Roode and left without helping MVP up. So yeah, I’m guessing their days are up.

blueline

Although not a bad show – it’s a run of a mill type of show.

Still no word yet on a new TV Deal for TNA, and I hope things do get a little more interesting soon.

Either way, Boot Camp is entertaining and Lucha Underground has my attention.

Till then.

The Jobber Blogger #132 – TNA: IMPACTWRESTLING – 29/10/14

Jobber Blogger logo2How do you end up spending so much time on the Internet?

Yup, we’re going deep into thought this week, so much so that I forgot why that opening sentence was relevant.

Honestly, I don’t spend that long on the internet, not anymore. However! Starting two consecutive sentences back to back with words beginning with “H”. Yes, However, when I do spend some time on the internet, I can spend a lot of time on the internet.

Random search to research business ideas turns into looking for Marvel Mega Bloks, to find that there is such a thing of Assassins Creed Mega Bloks (mind blown with glee!… not the show!) to then go on a tangent on Ninja Turtles.

Annnd then back round again to Writing up this week’s Jobber Blogger.

It’s nearly 9pm and I feel behind. I’m not behind. But I feel it. That’s the key difference…feelings.

How do I feel?

I’m getting philosophical now. And I even spelt it right! Stick that in your jam jar!

I did get consecutive wrong though. Only by one letter, but the real question is that One Letter too many letters too much?

It could be quite possibly, possible,… be.

bluelineTNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 29/10/14

We’re into November! I nearly said Halloween… but that isn’t relevant anymore. That came and went quicker than money.

Also Deodorant.

Also spelt wrong.

I seem to be a little strange this week, but my Feet are cold and I haven’t had a really big mug of Tea with exactly 3x Sugars, a whole load of milk and some Vanilla Syrup…. drank with a straw.

Yup, that’s how I roll.

MVP and Kenny King vs. Samoa Joe and Low Ki – Tag-Team Tournament – Semi Finals

I’m enjoying this Tag-Team tournament, yet I know some Spoilers up and coming… so I am all levels of confused.

As much as I’d like to get excited about Impact kicking off with a Match… it felt rather rushed.

Boom, match, MVP and King already in the ring. Takes away that opening “Impact” of crowd shots then Entrance Music hitting with a match gearing up. It feels like I’ve missed something when people are already in the ring for the start of the show.

What happened before? How did MVP walk out?

Am I really that interested… no…. but that’s not the point either!

Everything’s got a point!

pencil

See, and you can draw anything with a pencil.

– Well I couldn’t take it any longer and went to get some socks. And my lovely snuggly warm knitted jumper and a cup of tea. No Vanilla.

Sad times.

I feel like I should have given more of an in depth write up about the show, but I’ll just break it down as I go.

Seems to make most sense.

As far as the teams of Joe and Low-Ki and King and MVP, I couldn’t care at all. Neither of them are united as a team. I like my Tag-Teams to feel like a Team, rather than a throw together or pair up. King and MVP suit that better. But for how long?

It matters not as Joe and Low Ki took the win. I wrote down “awesome” and something else I can’t read. My enthusiasm for this match seems to have drifted.

blueline

Bram and Magnus had a bit of a babble. Bram stating he’s “re-writing history” and taking down the Brotherhood of Hardcore.

I like that. I prefer Bram already to most associated with that “Brotherhood”. Also I am so sick of anything involving ECW coming round again in TNA. Done with that.

It only just wrapped with Bully and EC3 and then it’s on again with Bram – Ugh.

Devon then came out and brought out his Good Friend – Tommy Dreamer and I cared even less.

What was interesting about all of this was the wording about Bully Ray from Mike Tenay and Taz. Stating Bully is “healing up” after his recent slew of matches and will be back soon. Which means TNA haven’t paid him to work these set of tapings, but he’s not gone completely from the company. Which is good news.

Bram and Magnus vs. Devon and Dreamer. Let me write that down before I forget how much I cared about that match.

Also if Bram doesn’t win,… I’ll moan a little on my blog no one reads.

blueline

After Years and Years of being a fan of TNA, I’m finally a fan of Shark Boy! Oh my Brother! Please keep giving me Videos of Shark Boy out of shape backstage.

Admittedly this one wasn’t as good as the first in his match against Tyrus. But Shark Boy doing a half arsed meet and greet, by himself, shoving Hotdogs in his face. Yup, I’m down with that.

Calling old woman “Old Bags” as he stumbles across for a photograph with her Grandson.

The only downside was Shark Boy being told to sort himself out. “Where’s the old Shark Boy!?” Sure it reeks of TNA’s Stone Cold turn from Heel to face, only to turn on the WWF and defect to WCW. Which was good.

I just hope we get a bit more of the out of shape Shark Boy first.

The Beautiful People vs. Taryn Terrell and Madison Rayne

Yay for Storyline driven matches.

Is it bad that I hoped Madison would just forget about being badly treated by Angelina and just re-join the Beautiful People.

I want her back in the Beautiful People.

This dislike between the new Mum’s – Madison and Taryn is on going, only with Taryn being the face.

I’m not so keen on Taryn, I am a Madison fan though, and she’s better as a Heel. Maybe not so much of her “Queen Bee” waving gimmick.

Madison did all the tricks of being a heel, looking the other way and not tagging in, then just beating her up.

Needless to say The Beautiful People won. I am liking a fued within the Knockouts though which isn’t situated around the Knockouts Championship.

blueline

Ethan Carter the Third and Tyrus vs. The Hardyz – Tag-Team Tournament – Semi Finals

I didn’t make any notes, only on who won and how they won.

I look at The Hardyz as the Favourites and also as the losers in this competition. Again, lifelong fan of the Hardyz, love them to bits. But. They’ve lost to the Wolves… once just in a Tag-Team Match, and then during the Tag-Team Series.

So really, if they won, why would that matter? The Wolves will probably beat them again.

This is the thing with this Tournament. Who is really a Tag-Team. I like the entry of everyone in the Tournament, but none of them are a fully fledged “Tag-Team”. Not anymore.

The Bromans – Robbie E and Jesse. They are.

The Wolves.

The Menagerie (sort of).

That’s it.

Hardyz, Team 3D – don’t really count. They sort of drift around and not always on the main roster.

I want a Tag-Team. With their own Entrance theme, matching attire, a proper Tag-Team.

Not Magnus and Joe. Not EC3 and Tyrus, enough of that.

I want a Beer Money, a Motor City. TNA needs more “Tag-Teams” not just teams put together.

The Hardyz took the Win on Tyrus. Despite them being a Team for how many years? Matt went for the Cover as Jeff jumped for the Swanton. Least that’s how it looked. Seemed a rather close call where Matt nearly got splatted by his Brother due to bad timing.

I just thought it was worth mentioning, it stood out to me.

Which leaves The Hardyz vs. Joe and Low-Ki.

Should be an awesome match. I want the Hardyz to win, but I don’t think they will. Mainly because they’ve already lost once.

Who knows.

blueline

James Storm vs. Eddie Edwards

TNA’s on-going worst Storyline since Claire Lynch continues by getting worse.

Now this isn’t to say that the Storyline is utter trash. It’s just the portrayal of it, and that it makes no sense.

James Storm doesn’t fit the role he’s in. Least not fully.

Storm was the top heel, he can build a Revolution by being who he is. This doesn’t feel like the Cowboy, this is like a weird mind controlling Texan, and it just doesn’t suit. The storyline could continue without the cheesyness of “look into my eyes” / “I will show you the light”. That’s the trash.

Have Storm be a powerful character and people gravitating to him because of that. Having shinny X-Division guys in his faction, that makes no sense.

The Wolves are really good, but convincing, they are not, especially Davey.

He’s not that great on the mic, and he being talked into Storm’s faction is worse. Putting tension between the Wolves not even a year into their TNA run is stupid.

And all of a sudden I can see massive potential in Eddie Edwards. Davey’s always stood out to me, but I do think Eddie carries himself better in all areas.

Davey kept getting spoken to by Manik and Storm through-out the match, causing the distraction for Eddie to eat the Last Call Superkick, and Davey didn’t help Eddie.

I don’t want Davey in Storms faction and I don’t want the Wolves to split. That would be incredibly annoying, especially after my rant about the lack of Credible Tag-Teams.

blueline

Bobby Roode vs. Lashley – TNA: World Heavyweight Championship – Kurt Angle Special Guest Referee

Too Fast – would be how I described this match.

You have one chance to do Lashley right, and they missed it pretty quickly and then it’s been a downward spiral.

Lashley, fierce, dominant, goes to war on his own, wins on his own, cleanly.

MVP mouth piece, Kenny King hot head. Worked.

The second Lashley needs help in a match – ruins it.

I didn’t want MVP and King to get involved like they did previously, that made it far worse.

But Lashley was sneaking Low-Blows and Belt Shots. Which I’m not a fan of for a Champion of his caliber.

Don’t get me wrong, if Roode wouldn’t stop, and Lashley couldn’t put him down, then fair enough. But Too Fast comes into play, because it felt far too quick in the match that Lashley was trying to cheat to defeat Roode, without Roode really doing anything to show that Lashley wasn’t in control.

Also having Referees flying around the ring from the slightest of tackle and being knocked down for minutes at a time is one of Wrestling’s dumbest factors, but hey, it works. Replace that Referee with a Wrestler, who gets knocked down even more, and takes even longer to get up. That’s pathetic.

Kurt Angle – Olympic Gold Medallist – 13 time World Champion – sucks.

That’s all it tells me, he seems less injured Moon Saulting off of a 15foot Cage onto the Matt, then he does being slightly ran into by a Wrestler.

It’s all gimmicky crap that ruins what could be a really hard hitting and hard faught Match.

Also this

bobbyroodelashleytnaworldchampionNow I knew Roode was going to win anyway, again – Spoilers. But I didn’t expect him to just sit down from a Sunset Flip into a Pin and beat Lashley so easily.

At first I thought that kind of sucked, but the more I was reminded about Lashley’s Re-Match – the more that makes sense.

See that’s smart booking, Roode barely beating him, but still beating him. This gives Lashley a lot of Room to grow. Now Lashley is on the hunt, and he’s going to be fierce.

Obviously I fully expect Roode to retain, but I’m interested in this Re-match more than I was for this match.

So my favourite World Champion of Recent Memory is now World Champion again.

I’m a Bobby Roode guy through and through, I think he’s the best Professional Wrestler in the business, in terms of all round ability.

I am a Heel fan though. I don’t know if Roode’s World title reign was please me as much with him being Face. I’m sure it won’t last near half as long. Glad he’s not a One Time World Champion though like most of TNA’s roster.

He deserves to hold the belt a lot, so I’m glad he’s back in the picture and happy for him to be the Champ, looking forward to seeing where it goes.

blueline

Another good packed show from TNA.

It’s hard to really say anything. I wasn’t super excited going in, but they put on a great show with great content.

It just feels flat all the same.

Maybe a Title Change Up is what it needs.

Until TNA get a new TV Contract sorted and announced and know where they stand with their Talent and Tapings / Live Television, TNA will continue to feel a flat.

Till then.

The Jobber Blogger

It’s bad when writing TNA Wrestling as The Jobber Blogger starts to remind me of work… that’s bad right? 131! pfft! It’s not even worth the reference!

It appears that time has drifted on a little from when I started to Write this. Ahh, I’m a wonderfully strange individual. I revel in my weirdness.

So, it appears that people are happy with the current product TNA is putting out. I would like to say that I am also happy with it, they are putting on good television. However, it being taped still taints my impressions.

bootcampWho watched British Bootcamp 2 – Episode 1?

I won’t give it a full write up, but I quite liked it. Last year’s original show was a little too scripted for my liking. It didn’t feel real enough, despite their best efforts.

This time around it’s better, though still a bit odd. It’s like Wrestling meets X-Factor, only they judging panel of Samoa Joe, Gail Kim and Al Snow can pretty much make the contestants to jumping jacks and speak in different languages. OR ELSE!

The “reality” side of the show actually feels more real, so that is a bigger bonus, plus having Spud as a host, Joe, Gail and Snow as judges and also participating, gives the show that much needed credibility edge.

I won’t pretend like I remembered everyone’s name, but the one who stood out to me the most was the Red headed girl. I suppose her hair was rather striking and I have thing for Red Hair.

But I digress.

Nikki Storm (needs a name change), I liked her attitude, and also hated her attitude. It works for a persona, not for a person. Norm, or whatever he was called was easily the top guy there, so glad he’s going through. But I was most impressed with the Red Headed girl, I thought she carried herself well in the ring, perhaps more “shy” than the other two, but I was most impressed with what we saw of her in-ring work than anyone else. So I am glad she’s there. Plus awesome that so far the women are dominating.

I like that.

TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 22/10/14

Oh how wonderful life is, when your favourite Wrestling show kicks off with Matt Hardy.

For those who have been reading this long enough might well remember my little rants about a Wee Young Jobber Blogger who would rush downstairs on Saturday mornings at 10am to catch WWF Smackdown on Sky1, in all of it’s edited for morning television glory.

What felt like every week was Smackdown kicking off with the Hardyz, and I loved it. So to have Matt still sticking around in TNA in 2014 and kicking off Impact with a Tag-Team Tournament with both himself and Jeff. Yup, I’m one happy fan!

blueline

The Hardyz vs. DJZ and Jesse

It is a little odd having DJZ and Jesse together without Robbie E. I can see DJZ actually fitting this role of a Broman better without either Robbie E and Jesse and finding someone more “hip” styled rather than Jersey styled.

Jesse works best with Robbie, and actually I think Robbie is awesome on his own.

Little by little, DJZ is creeping up on my favourites list, I’m still not entirely there, but I’m getting there. A huge, vast improvement from the days of Zema Ion with silly hair and hair spray with ridiculous attire. He suits this much better.

The Tag-Teams dominated this week’s Impact, and I have no problem with that. Though I do get a little sick of throw together story developing Tag-Team matches, I love Tag-Team matches with actual Tag-Teams.

So a tournament is right up my alley, and having The Hardyz kick it off with a Win. It’s like going back in time. What a wonderful thing nostalgia is right?

Blind Tag – Twist of Fate – Swanton Bomb – Hardyz pick up the win.

Low Ki and Samoa Joe vs. Samuel Shaw and Gunner

Speaking of throw together tag-team matches purely to further Story development. We got this match.

I’m unsure of where to stand on it. Like all kinds of on air friendships in Wrestling, they must BY LAW end up turning on each other with a video package stating how close they once were.

RoodeEyBrothers

The interesting dynamic here is Brittany, and more to the point the pairing of Shaw and Brittany, I like that idea.

Clearly Shaw was going to turn on Gunner, it just seemed to happen a little too sudden. A tiny backstage segment between Shaw and Brittany, which was the first we’ve actually seen them together in as any kind of friends.

I suppose this will evolve out into Anderson getting back involved maybe. Who knows.

Brittany grabbed Gunner’s leg who then fell victim to a kick from Low Ki right back into the clutches of Samoa Joe for the choke victory.

Then Shaw went to town on Gunner with a chair.

That right there is the money shot, I’ve never seen that side of Shaw or perhaps anyone sell beating down a guy with a chair as sadistically and deranged like Shaw did to Gunner.

I liked it a lot.

And then the unnecessary make-out rolling around the ring between Shaw and Brittany. Least they literally rolled over Gunner, which made that worth watching from an entertainment perspective.

blueline

Rebel was set to do battle with someone. I don’t remember. Did we even know? Could it have been Madison?

Havok then decided to come out and beat up Rebel. You know, taking out the threats. Like Rebel.

Yes, that is a joke.

HAHA!

Was there really anything to get? I’m not sure, it’s getting late.

Gail Kim then made her return with an injured arm, her own arm that was injured, of course. She didn’t just turn up with some severed arm. That would have been most unexpected.

gail arm

Gail took the fight to Havok and then the TNA guys in the back (and Earl Hebner) had to rush out to break up this fight. How many times have we seen this? I thought the days of security breaking up fights were over, but it appears not.

I suddenly miss D’Lo.

Also why is Earl Hebner always there? He never actually breaks up the fight, he just walks back and forth observing.

Bram vs. Devon – Hardcore Match

This was scheduled earlier on in the night, but it didn’t go according to plan. Nope guess what, they had a brawl, and the TNA security (and Earl Hebner) ran out to break it up… and pace back and forth…. respectively.

Kurt booked the match, and here we have it. Bram trying to make a name for himself by picking on Hardcore Hall of Famers, now that sounds like a Reality Show waiting to happen… although it might not be about what we would hope… or maybe it is. Maybe the viewer would be the one disappointment.

tnahalloffame

All of this is to continue to build on the foundations of Bram’s success against Abyss, making him a big star, and also the contrast that places between Bram and Magnus… despite the physical contrast.

bramandmagnus

In the end it was in fact Magnus who got involved and attacked Devon from outside the ring which led to Bram picking up the victory. I’m sure this will become “I didn’t need your help to win” territory in no time, and of course right on time for the “They were once like Brothers!” Video package and inevitable grudge match.

Mr. Anderson and Chris Melendez vs. MVP and Kenny King

It does amuse me at how little of a beating guys get in a Tag-Team match to make them need to tag out in no time, yet in a singles match, that’s just a scratch.

Anderson was beaten down and controlled though-out the majority of the match, but finally got the Tag to “Sarge”.

See, Melendez is very impressive, I get it. I think he seemed a bit better this week. But he can pull off some amazing sights given his condition, it’s awesome. But then, it’s also given his condition, which makes it a weird kind of territory to be in.

Thankfully the right team won as King had a sneaky roll up with trunks for the Win.

Right after the match however The Wolves did one of the worst “fake” promos I’ve ever seen followed by James Storm doing one of the worst promo’s I’ve ever seen by trying to convince Davey Richards to join his revolution.

I’m sure nothing will come of Storm’s strange medusa prowess on Richards, but say if it did…. it’s only a matter of time before issues between The Wolves began to surface. Then they’d be forced to run the “They Were Once Like Brothers!” Video Package and inevitable grudge match.

Yay for Tag-Teams! gunnerandshawandanderson

Shame this dream will never come true =(

Ethan Carter the Third and Tyrus vs. Eric Young and Rockstar Spud

EC3 laid out the challenge earlier on in the night to Spud, but it was EC3 who did his best to get Spud fired up for this match.

Spud had his old music again, which was pretty awesome, it’s a cool theme. Only now it meets with his Chief of Staff intro.

It appears as though Spud is now full throttle Face.. another good T-shirt idea.

A new movement of “I’m With Spud”, which isn’t quite how a movement works.

I was under the impression that a movement was something that naturally got started. Now Spud has been gaining a following, but TNA put out the “I’m With Spud” T-shirt quite a while ago. Yes people cheer for him, and yes he’s being turned Face, but that doesn’t make it a movement. The fact your telling me it’s a Movement, which also happens to coincide with the merchandise your trying to sell, makes me think it’s not a Movement at all and your trying to market it to me.

Tyrus pulled out a “Heart Punch” which incidentally was made famous from old school Pro Wrestler – Ox Baker.

I won’t pretend like I knew that before watching this match, but it turns old Ox ol’Pal was in Escape from New York – which just happens to be one of my favourite movies of all time! So big kudos, much respect and RIP!

Spud did an awesome Flip from the Top Rope, then lost the match by being Chokeslammed by Tyrus.

Looking forward to seeing where Spud goes from here and I actually hope Tyrus sticks around.

TNA ended on the Contract Signing between Bobby Roode and Bobby Lashley for Match #2.

All night there was this big “surprise” which was being thrown around by TNA and Kurt backstage. Just turned out to be that Kurt has made himself the Special Guest Referee.

Which really isn’t all that exciting. Special Ref’s usually are a waste of time. However on the odd occasion having a good “authorities” figure in the ring can make for a memorable match.

I really hope Roode vs. Lashley #2 Delivers.

I’m looking forward to watching it next week.

A good solid Impact, lots of lovely Tag-Team Wrestling and a good show set up for next week!

Till then!

THE JOBBER BLOGGER #128 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 8/10/14

Jobber-Blogger

The Jobber Blogger

I shall start this off again by Apologising for the delay in last week’s Jobber Blogger. It’s now 11:15pm on Friday, and I’m super tired, but there’s no way I can afford to get behind!
It’s Bound for Glory week, if I miss Impact for even a day it’s then all on top of me again.

Impact saw a slight, minimal increase in the Ratings this week, no doubt due to the Full Metal Mayhem match, but it really is a shame that TNA have put on these awesome matches, and they just don’t draw in the attention they should.
Personally it makes little sense to have this on a Televised show of Impact, rather than say Bound for Glory.
I know they had other plans, but moving this Full Metal Mayhem match to a PPV would have made it all that more special.
I’ve said it the last few weeks running, but the Crowds just don’t seem great, and that can really suck the energy out of a show, especially viewing it edited and obviously taped back to back.
But hey, that’s the current situation, least Impact is putting on History worth matches!

TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 8/10/14

Angelina Love (w/Velvet Sky) vs. Taryn Terrell vs. Madison Rayne – #1 Contender Match – Knockouts Championship

Okay so Impact didn’t kick off with this match, it kicked off with Bobby Roode, MVP and Kenny King, but there’s little point getting into that build up when I have to write down the match later on, so I’ll get to that a little later.

This match as it is, is more confusing.

The Winner of this match will face the Winner of the Bound for Glory match between Havok and Velvet.

It’s a little odd to throw Velvet into a match against Havok as it is, clearly because if Gail got dominated, then Velvet isn’t going to stand much of a chance.

Shame ODB is no longer with TNA because that would have been a better pairing. Even better still would be Lei’D Tapa, and hey, it might happen once she’s had a little more training.

Lei'D Tapa Train
Classic… If I don’t say so myself! 😉

It’s all a bit jumbled up, but obviously TNA only had so much time to fit in as many TV Tapings as possible before they are off Spike TV. So they’ve taped beyond Bound for Glory, hence why BFG can’t have any title matches etc, so it’s more of a One Off Special on a grand scale.

My gripe with Wrestling not being consistent with following the rules when it comes to Faces and Heels always seems to involve Angelina. Of course you could make a good argument for me being as biased as I am.

However should Angelina and Velvet have double teamed anyone in this match (though Velvet did interfere a little) Tenay would have been all over the place for such shenanigans.

Yet as it is, Taryn and Madison double teamed Angelina, and that’s just put down to “putting aside their differences).

The very phrase putting aside their differences also makes it sound like Madison is a heel, which I’m sure she is building to, given she cheated by pulling the Trunks of Taryn to get the win.
It just makes it sound like it’s more defined than it currently is. I like Madison as a face, but she probably is a better heel…. but then, aren’t most?

I don’t see anyone being a Threat to Havok anytime soon, which makes me think someone else might hiding away, like the aforementioned Lei’D Tapa.

James Storm and The Great Sanada vs. Low Ki and Tigre Uno

So one of my absolute favourites – Tigre Uno shined as always in this match. But, what I wanted above all was for Storm to take Uno and bring him into his Revolution.

That didn’t happen… yet.

I’m still hoping, mainly just to give Uno some Air-Time.

I much prefer Sanada in his current role and look, not so much the “Muta” inspired, just a bit more toned down and edgier than he previously was.

Still have no idea why James Storm is creating brightly coloured shiny plastic wearing High Flyers. He doesn’t really “fit” with that style. But I do like his leadership, I’m still hoping for Storm to have a proper World Title run, hopefully next year sometime, and this faction could be his “rise”. Unless of course Muta and Tajiri put a stop to that at BFG. Which given the Japanese crowd, they might play it safe.

Low Ki and Uno both very impressive, it was actually nice to see Storm tangle with the High Flyers for a change, Sanada sprayed the mist at Uno leaving him open for the Last Call Superkick and the Win.

tigre uno fn
How many times have I used this now?… seriously?

Samuel Shaw vs. Bram – Street Fight

I don’t remember if they billed this match as a Street Fight or not? Doesn’t matter, many different names, all the same thing.

I actually don’t know why this match took place. I enjoyed it.

TNA is now claiming Shaw has been and Tattooed his Arms because of his connection / obsession with Gunner.

OF course anyone who remembers, will know Shaw had these Tattoo’s before. But it’s a somewhat clever way to get him out of his Dexter clothes and develop the story…. if not a little weird.

SamShaw

Bram who is still on the rise took quite a beating in this match, which is odd. I actually don’t know who the heel is, or if they are both heels. Are we supposed to like Bram more because he’s successful, or are we supposed to route for Shaw given his redemption and connections to Gunner?

Or are we supposed to dislike them both, but enjoy the match.

I like both Bram and Shaw, and enjoyed the match. Option D…. or C. I didn’t check.
Also Math.

Also… Also.

also elmo
I didn’t know Bram was married to WWE’s NXT Women’s Champion, I know Bram was released from the WWE. But it’s a cool connection. Not to mention that Charlotte – NXT Women’s Champ is also the Daughter of Ric Flair. So Bram is the Son in Law of the Nature Boy.

Kind of cool.

Bram then hit Shaw in the head with the Turnbuckle and won. Brittany wondered down to the ring and cradles Shaw’s fuzzy chop face.

Bobby Roode vs. MVP and Kenny King – Handicap Match

As I mentioned at the get-go, Impact kicked off with Roode again going on about wanting “One More Match” with Lashley. Least he didn’t keep repeating it to get the Crowd chanting this week. Nothing looks more pathetic than a Guy trying to get a match after losing fair and square by “trying” to get the Crowd chanting for the same goal.

I do miss Heel Roode. I’m sure should Roode get the World Championship again, I will miss Heel Roode all the more.

It will also mean he won’t have the belt for very long – good guy champions are rather boring…
MVP still speaking for Lashley turned down Roode’s attempts for a Re-match once more. But instead from the aid of Kenny King added this stipulation and match – should Roode beat them both, he gets a Title Shot, if not, he can never Wrestle for the World Championship again. Which Roode agreed to… sounds smart.

Clearly Roode wasn’t going to lose this match, and I’m glad Lashley came out and DQ’d King by beating up Roode. Makes it much better, and much more interesting.

What was far funnier was Kurt Angle’s little backstage segment with MVP stating that MVP doesn’t run the show anymore. Given that this was toward the end of Impact, I question the logic of if Kurt Angle was even running the show!

Given that he wasn’t there at the start, or even during the match, he clearly wasn’t paying too much attention.

Roode technically took the win by a DQ, but none of the stated Stipulations took place as Angle set a Number #1 Contenders Match for next week.

Ethan Carter the Third and Spud continue to develop their little break up.

Spud himself as stated that he was so happy TNA gave him the chance to re-invent himself with this Chief of Staff role for Dixie Carter. I was sure Spud was going to get fired sooner or later, we barely saw him on TV, I think he maybe had two, three matches tops and really didn’t seem like a good fit. He said the same thing about himself, which I admire.

But thank god he had the chance to be the Chief of Staff, because Spud has been a highlight in TNA ever since.

As I said last week, I don’t know the longevity of a Spud face turn, I’m not sure it would be the same should he not be a heel character. But I can totally get behind him against EC3, in terms of being bullied and Spud’s little defiance turn.

Spud eventually Slapped EC3, but then EC3 fired Spud from his services. I just thought, should EC3 and Spud face one another, I think EC3 should beat him down, badly, but in a “good effort” kind of way.

The Hardyz vs. Team 3D vs. The Wolves – Full Metal Mayhem – World Tag-Team Championships

Was this series better than Beer Money vs. Motor City?

Honestly I don’t remember that Series amazingly well, but I would say yes. Only given the heights of the series and the participants.

I didn’t make any notes, only as to who won.

The Wolves retained their Championships, which I think is fitting. I’d have liked to see The Hardyz with the belts, and I hope that actually happens. But really, Team 3D should have won if the titles were going to change hands.

But putting over The Wolves was the right move.

The only thing that taints this match was the fact we know it was Taped and that the Crowd just wasn’t electric enough as you’d like.

The match itself – phenomenal.

The very first Full Wrestling PPV I watched as a regular Wrestling fan was SummerSlam 2000 – the very first TLC Match, and that PPV will always be special to me. The Hardyz have been my favourites since I got into Wrestling, to have them and 3D to do this again, 14 years later, is crazy.

It might have been 14 years, but the level of the match, the intensity of the match, was right up there with the best.

Which is also depressing, this Match is worthy of being Remembered in Wrestling History, so many of TNA’s matches are. But will they ever be?

It’s hard to say, I really hope so. If TNA ever go under, I really hope the WWE buy out their tapes just to have it on Record.

Can I sit back and say that this match, was THE match of the year. No.

But it’s definitely the front runner, and I can’t wait to go back and re-watch it!
This is the Wrestling I grew up Loving, with 80% the exact Same guys, and I love that.

So that’s another Impact, yet again a Solid show with a Fantastic Main Event. But it does seem no matter what they put on, TNA just drags along at the same level it’s always at.
Which is a shame, it really is.

Bound for Glory is this Sunday, I will do my best to get it Written up for Wednesday!
I’d like to do the “Predictions” segment for the PPV’s, and I shall, but obviously it’s not really a Storyline driven PPV, and it features 40 – 50% of talent I don’t know.

The Great Muta & Tajiri vs. James Storm & The Great Sanada
– James Storm and Sanada win – (least I hope, probably wrong)

Samoa Joe vs. Low Ki vs. Kaz Hayashi – X-Division Championship
– Samoa Joe retains.

Ethan Carter III vs. Ryota Hama
– EC3 win

Team 3D vs. Abyss & Tommy Dreamer
– Team 3D Win

MVP vs. Kazma Sakamoto
– Kazma Sakamoto win

Manik vs. Minoru Tanaka
– Manik win

Havok vs. Velvet Sky – Knockouts Championship
– Havok retains

Andy Wu & El Hijo del Pantera vs. Jiro Kuroshio & Yusuke Kodama
– Jiro and Yusuke win (no idea?)

Looking forward to Bound For Glory!
Till then!

The Jobber Blogger #122 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 27/8/14

Jobber-Blogger

The Jobber Blogger

Well it’s 8:30pm, Sunday the 31st of August, and I’m knackered.

It’s my second day off after my lovely 10 day stint at work, and I think it’s just finally hit me.

Having a nice nap during the day seems to have made things all the worse! But, here we are!

Quick shout out goes to the Cage Amateurs UK team of Jon and Dan, not only for posting up my ramblings for as long as they have, but just for them being awesome guys and sending me a free t-shirt!

Yes, a picture might follow! Just not right now!

bluelineTNA talk time, and it’s quite easy to say that TNA is Getting Wild!!! No, don’t get ahead of yourselves, it’s only getting wild because they’ve been offered a TV Deal by the Discovery Channel, not a bad idea, linking EY’s Off the Hook show with TNA. However the budget they will give TNA will drastically change their product, so it’s a last resort I believe.

Apparently Netflix forked out some ridiculous fee for the rights to some TV show I forgot the name of. That’s a pretty damn good budget. I still think the Online Streaming Market is a good market to get into. I suppose you can say that the WWE Network is under performing. Though I would bet the vast majority of their audience and TNA’s have Netflix, or a product similar. Put it on there, worldwide, no pesky TV limitations, try Live shows? Small extra charge for a PPV, and put out the show at the same time, World Wide. Awesome idea!

I’m sure there’s a lot more to it than that and I have no idea about anything.

blueline TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 27/8/14

Kurt kicked off the show by standing up in the crowd of the New York fans. Maybe too close to the fans… especially this guy

kurt fan love

I did find it funny that the show went all “Wrestling” quickly, and I mean that in terms of being a typical Wrestling talking match, rather than actually Wrestling.

MVP, Lashley and King hit the ring and poor Kurt just stood next to those fans for quite some time saying nothing…. doing nothing. It’s like they forgot he was there. And also how I used to feel when standing near people. End up sort of in a group, just standing there… too embarrassed to walk away, then people I didn’t know would turn up, people I did know left… and I was just stuck, standing near people I didn’t know, starring at them whilst they talked about crap I had no interest in. Ahh, to be shy again.

Waste of my frickin’ time!

Thankfully MVP was back on form at actually being good on the mic, then for no reason, At All, Tommy Dreamer got involved.

Tommy Dreamer, who has no relevance to this situation was put in this situation. My god! I’ve never noticed how much of a whiney git Dreamer is. Has it always been his “thing” to be a suck up?

Why does he need to get involved in everything and tell people how good they are? How much better they can be. I don’t remember him doing this before?

dreamer loveDreamer who took it upon himself to tell Fortune some years ago how good they all were, then got his ass kicked. He recently came out to tell Dixie how lovely she is, and got hit in the nuts. Now he’s come out to tell MVP, King and Lashley at how far they’ve fallen, to once again get his ass kicked.

Isn’t he supposed to be a talk from the heart in an edgy kind of way. This is just pathetic. Also hilarious. If it’s meant to be serious, then it’s a terrible characteristic. However, having Dreamer tell everyone how lovely they are and he getting beaten up for it, I’m down with that.

bluelineLashley vs. Dreamer – Street Fight

So here’s the problem, and it’s called Lashley vs. Dreamer.

Dreamer has always been the guy who looks like he least belongs in a ring. That’s not to say he can’t wrestle or perform. He just doesn’t look like a Wrestler. He looks like a crew guy who got caught up in something.

Whereas Lashley is arguably the most well built Professional Wrestler going.

I supposed that’s the dynamic of this particular booking.

Lashley took a few good shots from the weapons, but he kept it a Wrestling match and that is how he defeated Dreamer and thankfully it wasn’t too much of a struggle for him.

See they’re building Lashley well now, making him the Destroyer, a true Wrestler, who can’t be beat. Aside from the fact he’s won two of his toughest matches because they made an error, rather than his superiority, that’s the only downside.

bluelineSo the new Knockout – Havok is making her debut next week. Not sure if everyone knew it was a Knockout yet?

Either way, looking forward to it, she looks like a Female Bane….. I’m judging that purely on the mask, no idea what she actually looks like. (Just to cover my tracks on what could have been an insult!) Yay!

Lei'D BanebluelineGunner was hanging out in his Room with Samuel Shaw. Yup, it gets weirder believe it or not.

This was one of those strange to place Wrestling backstage segments again. Because it’s meant to look like a “scene” yet it’s Wrestling, which is based in reality, so there is obviously a Camera Man in the room.

It’s a weird mix, top it off with some bad acting, and well, it’s Wrestling I guess?

Shaw pretended to be drawing, then decided to wear Gunner’s military jacket and salute him.

I’m guessing we’re supposed to see that either Shaw IS crazy, or he’s developing a kind of affection for Gunner.

If this thing turned into a Gay storyline, I think it would catch people off guard. I’d find it funny, so why not. Can’t be any worse than Claire Lynch.

bluelineMadison Rayne vs. Taryn Terrell – #1 Number Contenders – Knockouts Championship

Whilst on the topic of the Knockouts, it appears that Velvet might be distancing herself from TNA. Bully’s contract is now up, so he’s effectively left the company, though he will be at Bound for Glory for the Hall of Fame.

I’m still hopeful Bully isn’t done with TNA. But this apparent relationship between Bully and Velvet, one would imagine that her distancing herself could also be in part due to his departure.

See, this wasn’t a bad match. Taryn is good, she’s good at the more unusual things you wouldn’t see a Knockout doing. The crazy things.

But she’s not that technically good either, though miles better than Velvet… but that’s another story.

I’m easily more of a Madison fan, but whatever, there’s still something about Taryn that just doesn’t seem to “click” as a full package.

What was interesting was Madison’s attempt at cheating, putting her feet on the Ropes. Maybe they think there aren’t enough Heel Knockouts, perhaps they think Madison works better as a heel?

I’m open to her being in the Beautiful People again, hopefully Velvet does stick around, if she goes I don’t think Angelina would be far behind her. That would suck.

But hey, let’s stay on topic, Taryn won. Now she’s off to face Gail Kim for the Knockouts Championship, and guess what, she shouldn’t win.

But she might…

bluelineHomicide, DJ Z, Manik vs. Tigre Uno, Crazy Steve and Low Ki

Random but awesome 6-man X-Division Tag.

Interesting pairing between all of these guys too, given that DJ Z is the only real Heel.

Again, the latter part of Low Ki’s entrance was the only one Televised, so quite obvious who is getting put over.

Uno took his time to shine once more, and he is just excellent! Hopefully he will be put in a match again soon, where he isn’t just “there” to fill in the gaps. Uno vs. Low Ki, I’d like to see that.

Awesome, Fast Paced, Excellent match! Low Ki, picked up the win.

bluelineBobby Roode and Eric Young had one of those “Respect Talks” to each other for their match next week to determine the Number One Contender.

I love how this was played off as a big deal, and struggle to decide the correct action. Despite this was the most obvious course of action, with a Triple Threat not being out of the question either.

Sure, EY and Roode have a history, but it’s not like a really well documented on screen Friendship, aside from their time in Team Canada all of those years ago.

Don’t think they really need to let them telling each other how much they like one another, but it didn’t not work either. Them getting fired up about tearing the Roof Down next week seemed to get a big pop, and no doubt nice Video Footage.

Here’s the thing though, and it gets sticky.

Eric Young defeated Bobby Roode twice, yup, TWICE! To retain the World Championship.

And EY has never been able to defeat Bobby Lashley, at all, or even get close.

Yet Roode seems like the most legit guy to challenge Lashley, and he’s being billed as that. But on paper, Roode couldn’t beat EY, so therefore Roode shouldn’t be able to beat Lashley (as far as logic goes). And EY has been defeated by Lashley so many times, that he’s not going to stand a chance.

So what’s the point? Unless they do swing a Triple Threat. Either way, I’d like Lashley to keep the belt. I’ve wanted Storm on top for some time now, and I’m into this idea of him forming a Revolution, he’d be a good figure head. So my perfect idea, is Lashley remains dominant, till the onslaught of Storm and his Revolution. Heel on Heel.

I like that idea.

bluelineEthan Carter the Third vs. Rhino

Remember that guy I made fun of in the crowd a few weeks back? No… well up yours!

shyguy^ This guy. Yup, even TNA are mocking him now, gave him some more screen time and Taz and Tenay burst out laughing at the poor guy. I found it funny.

creepy fan 2Something else I found rather funny, was when Tenay and Taz were talking about Dixie’s interview from last week, Taz making some comment about how Mike should have asked her something. Tenay responded saying it must have got edited out, to which Taz brilliantly replied “I thought they didn’t edit anything on this show”. Who knows if that was scripted, but Impact is so badly and poorly edited at times, that I enjoyed this comment.

I also liked how Taz and Tenay had to tell Rhino’s story during this match to try and make you think he’s the good guy. His alliance with EC3 and Dixie was only about money, and they were never friends.

Yup, you want people to be against EC3 and on Rhino’s side, well apart from the fact Rhino has some history people will latch onto, Rhino does look like an idiot in all of this.

So yeah, I routed for EC3, and much to my enjoyment he got himself a Chair and beat the high holy hell out of Rhino with it. To the point where Spud told him to Calm Down.

I enjoyed this, it makes me like EC3, and I’m against Rhino throughout this crappy storyline, so I enjoyed that more.

bluelineThe Great Sanada vs. Austin Aries

Storm came out to introduce Sanada, talk about his Revolution and that Sanada is the “first of many”. So I am liking the idea. Again, Storm being on a losing streak doesn’t exactly make him a good mentor.

Sanada debuted his new look, which is also The Great Muta’s old look. Not very original of Storm really.

I did quite like it though. What I appreciated more is that Sanada is supposed to be the one put over, but he didn’t bury Aries.

Aries was as legit as ever, but Sanada was playing dirty and Storm was getting involved, so I’m cool with Aries taking the fall.

I particularly liked Sanada’s counter to the Brain Buster by Biting Aries’ hand. “Biting” is obviously used a fair bit in Wrestling, but to have Sanada with his arms out, Aries’ hand in mouth, as he pulled himself out of the hold. Nice touch.

In the end though Storm shook the ropes to make Aries fall from the top, Sanada sprayed the mist in his face then finished him off with a Superkick for the win.

I look forward to where this goes, and in a lot of ways this felt like old wrestling. Having a manager out there, debuting his new talent, trying to put him over. I don’t know why, but the appearance helped too, I liked it. I look forward to where this leads and hope Storm actually brings more people into this revolution.

bluelineChris Malendez had his Debut, least in appearance.

It’s a weird one. I get why he’s impressive, I get why it’s an amazing thing to achieve, I get why he’s respected. I just don’t see longevity in his career.

I honestly feel TNA’s signing of an “American Hero” is more for publicity than anything else. I liked the story of Anderson putting him in touch with Bully and Devon. But then Bully and Devon were called the “best trainers” and I think Rob Terry came from their school, either way Jesse Neal did, and he sucked.

Not to mention he was in the Marines, Navy? I don’t think he got free training.

I don’t mean this to sound harsh, but the idea of a one legged Wrestler doesn’t interest me, if anything I find it off putting. It is fantastic to be able to get where he is, but there will always be a limit of what he can do, always.

Zack Gowen is obviously the comparison, and I hated him. It bugs me to this day that his only win, ONLY WIN, was against Matt Hardy. That should never have happened. EVER!

bluelineTeam 3D vs. The Hardyz vs. The Wolves – Match 1

Honestly, I put no notes. Well, I wrote down that Team 3D won, and that the match was awesome.

This is what I will say, this match was fantastic! We knew it would be.

There isn’t anything I can really say to do it justice, just watch it.

However, as good as this match was, I didn’t put it forward for a Match of the Year Nomination.

Now, why didn’t I do that?

Two reasons, number one, this match though special, isn’t as special as the first two matches between Hardyz and the Wolves, and Hardyz vs. Team 3D.

Number two, and this is the main reason, this was Match Number 1, these are going to get crazy good, I know it. So this won’t be the best, and the best, will be the best, and then that will be put forward I’m sure.

I love Tag-Team Wrestling!

The Jobber Blogger #120 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 14/8/14

Jobber Blogger hardyz copyOne Hundred and Twenty times, and I’ve blabbed on about crap! Oh yes, good old TNA: Wrestling, Impact Wrestling, WRESTLING WRESTLING WRESTLING!

What a weird and wonderful place you find yourselves in. So putting Dixie through a Table boosted the ratings to continue TNA’s current run of “a good month”, putting the much hyped, four month build up of putting a Woman through a Table the highest rated Impact show since February. Which means! Back in February they had a higher rated show and Dixie needn’t have gone through a Table.

ALAS!

This means nothing really. Well aside from the Network bosses who decide to pump money into your programme. And given that Spike TV isn’t looking so keen on renewing their deal with TNA, I suppose ratings mean everything.

Which is good news to know that the ratings dropped… a lot, this week. Despite this being a better show, but it’s wrestling, so who knows.

Also they didn’t spend four months building the main event. Though the WWE spent a whole year building The Rock vs. Cena and that sucked…. like, really sucked. Which is an interesting point I just made to myself, so I shall mention that later on!

So Spike might renew their current deal, who knows, but they won’t go out of business, but it’s certainly not good news.

What is worse news however is that Alberto Del Rio got the axe from the WWE for slapping some social media guy. Rightfully so, I’m sure. I’ll let you decide if I mean getting fired or slapping the guy.

… getting fired, obviously.

We all knew it would be the next step, there is the big news of a WWE talent getting fired, or quitting or being “released” then it’s the “Why?” then it’s the TNA factor.

TNA have made a career off of bad business moves of bringing in bigger named talent, dropping the belt on them, doing nothing, getting a few weeks of ratings, pissing off a lot of fans, pissing off the talent then big name star quits and it’s done.

Happens, every, single, time.

So yes, TNA apparently went right after or at least wanted to go right after getting Del Rio with the added boost of wanting to drop the Heavyweight Championship on him right away. So that’s awesome brilliant thinking. Are we seriously thinking that in 2014, after 12 freaking years, the same stupid guy has a job that does this and thinks it’s a good idea. Lets be honest, Del Rio, really isn’t all that good. Del Rio most certainly isn’t better than the talent you already have. And are you really, really, going to throw away your build up and planning and developing to just put it on the new guy whose name has some cache with a bigger company? Are we really still doing this?

For a company that has the best locker-room in the industry, they are damn lucky, most of them have still decided to stick around, because when your as stupid as to do this, all the time, you don’t deserve to be in business.

Sorry but, James Storm, Bobby Roode, Austin Aries. Sort them out first. Samoa Joe, Eric Young, Jeff Hardy, Bully Ray sort them out next. Then focus on your new talent in the following years. It’s just frustratingly pathetic, that I hope, and pray, this actually is a work, and TNA have finally decided to poke fun at the same mis-steps they always take.

Want to solve your ratings / network problem? Here’s a hint, Don’t Do The Same Thing Every Body Hates! AGAIN!

TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 14/8/14

bluelineWell I started productively then thought you know what, I wonder how many guys came from the WWE and won the TNA title in little to no time at all. That goes to wikipedia, that goes to youtube, then you find your not even watching anything remotely relevant to why you went looking in the first place, and I guess that’s the beauty of the internet.

Or in other words, a waste of time.

Clearly.

Hot off the heels of Dixie going through a table, and yes to keep up to date with the time scheduel, this was 7th of August that the Impact show aired with Dixie’s power-bomb, funny enough days after this current TV Show was taped.

So they must have had to ruin a lot, or just one show?

I lose track, but it’s confusing, it doesn’t really matter, but I like to know that the Audience are at least up to date with what’s happening, otherwise it’s distracting.

Bully kicked off the show talking about, of course, putting Dixie through a table, and then went on to talk highly of Devon, and so Devon showed up.

Yes, we’ve all forgotten how Bully kicked him in the head, then joined up for The Aces and Eights, then also betrayed him, now they’re a team again.

It’s wrestling, got it.

Then something rather cool happened, we knew from the week before about this match, but just having Matt and Jeff confront Bully and Devon, in 2014, in TNA. It’s a little weird.

In a lot of ways the Hardyz seem much less accomplished that Team 3D, given that Jeff by himself has had more singles success than all of them combined.

Also this guy obviously didn’t know Matt was in town

handfan

Obviously we all know the history between these two teams, but again, it’s just weird to have the Hardyz back together as it is, through them in the same ring with Team 3D and it’s like what happened. I grew up with this, now it’s 2014 and the ring has six sides and everything’s gone crazy.

I guess we didn’t really need a banter filled history lesson, but I can let that slide for nostalgia purposes, what I really didn’t need was TNA’s horrible editing.

They do it all the time with the taped shows, maybe the segments go on too long, but it’s so un-organic it ruins what magic can be found.

The chants don’t build up they just “appear” with a crowd shot, then they’re gone and it’s back to talking, or a quick reaction from Bully, then back to Matt.

It’s very jarring and very annoying. And it really taints the moment they’re trying to create. The moment is there, it’s happening, but you’re cutting it out. I suppose I can live with the horrible editing of a forced history lesson promo to set the main event, because it’s one hell of a main event.

bluelineLow Ki vs. Homicide vs. Manik vs. Crazy Steve vs. DJ Z vs. Tigre Uno – 6-man Tag Team Scramble – X-Division Number One Contender Match

Yup, that’s a match type you won’t forget in a hurry.

Because of how the show is presented, you already know which guy will win. Given that only Low Ki got a Televised entrance, you know from that alone they view Low Ki as the favourite, biggest star, and clearly the one going to win. Given the last few weeks of TV Time, it’s no surprise either.

The jury is still out on whether Low Ki is even sticking around. I don’t think he’s signed a contract.

But whatever, he’s awesome, so I can get with it. I’ve never understood the appeal of Homicide. I don’t get why he keeps coming round. I know he has a fair history with TNA, but he doesn’t come across impressive in the least to me.

He does the odd flip or crazy jump, but that’s about as far as it goes, and he does that with no grace.

Poor Crazy Steve was the first to be eliminated followed by of course Tigre Uno. Yup, that trend continues.

Least he wasn’t the first to be eliminated, that would have really annoyed me. I’d rather Steve didn’t go straight away either, but given his character it fits.

What worries me is that it seems Uno knows he’s being underused, because he took his limited time and pulled out all the stops. He’s fantastic, I don’t get why they’re not using him better than just to fill matches.

I say it every episode he is on, but seriously:

tigre uno fn

In the end of course it was down to Low Ki and Homicide, again, don’t get the appeal.

But they did put on a good bout, hard hitting, fast paced, good wrestling.

Low Ki won… didn’t see that coming.

No chance he will defeat Samoa Joe in his first X-Division Championship defense, but it could start off a nice feud.

bluelineEC3, Rhino and Spud hit the ring to talk about last week’s actions of putting Dixie through a table. EC3 called for Bully to be fired, which brought out Kurt Angle – who is on the WWE track again, sick of hearing about that.

Kurt instead got them all arrested, I guess it was kind of funny. Maybe this is supposed to be the “end” of them too, but I don’t think we’ve seen the last of it. Which basically means, Dixie is gone, but she’s not gone.

The show was built around the footage from after the Show, Dixie’s condition, an interview with Dixie next week, EC3, Spud still around. It’s not done with at all. So what was the point? People don’t want it on the show, you’ve ended it, leave it. But we all know they won’t, so it’s going to go on, and drag out a little bit more, and a little bit more, until just like Dixie and Bully themselves, nobody cares anymore, and they didn’t care to start with. Move on.

bluelineMr. Anderson vs. Gunner

This match happened.

I’m not sure what the crowd was doing during this match but they seemed to go onto (I believe WWE’s Fandango dancing and theme) onto other random crowd chants.

Which means they were whole heartedly invested in this match up.

Samuel Shaw ran down to “break up” the fight, which led to Anderson punching Shaw, which led to Shaw beating up Anderson, which led to Gunner breaking them up.

It’s really not all that exiting, plus it’s on the same trend as TNA’s current trend of not trusting people. I’m fairly confident Shaw will turn out to be using Gunner all of this time.

And Anderson is really the one who is right, but looks like the bad guy. Been there done that.

bluelineBiggest news from Impact, JR Tweeted about Dixie going through a Table, and they showed it. Doubt this means anything at all, but JR has been positive about TNA for a while, surely they would listen to him and take his advice. I think it’s the actual “in ring” segments of Wrestling he enjoys… you know, from a Wrestling show.

JRTNA

bluelineAngelina Love vs. Velvet vs. Gail Kim vs. Taryn Tarrell – Knockouts Championship

Isn’t it far too soon to be playing the only card Wrestling can think of, the competition between friends. Angelina and Velvet are “butting heads” already, again, again I might add. We’ve been down this road before too.

With the same people.

Again.

I’m still rather confident there will be a “surve ball” in here somewhere and the Beautiful People pretending to have issues will be the downfall of Gail’s current Knockouts Championship run.

Least that is wishful thinking, I suppose that would have to go to Velvet. Which is cool, she’s only held the belt once, and it wasn’t for long.

Taryn dived off the top rope to the floor taking everyone down, living up to her crazy and short legacy.

Something I really liked about the New York fans is that they do seem to respond well to the Knockouts, and I mean the Knockouts actually Wrestling. I respect that.

To be honest I respect any Wrestling fan that actually gives respect to the Wrestlers. I was a little appaulled by some fans in Manchester when I was there last year who were booing the Knockouts and yelling for them to get out the ring. The Knockouts Division in TNA is one of their strongest assets, they need to grow it more if anything.

The Beautiful People wouldn’t let either of themselves win, and Taryn cleaned the ring (and somehow managed to take herself out of the ring with a clothesline), Gail then dropped Velvet with Eat Defeat and retained her Championship.

bluelineLashley, MVP and Kenny King vs. Eric Young, Austin Aries and Bobby Roode

TNA is a bit all of the place currently, I’m not quite sure where things are going to go.

Bully and Dixie has been centre stage so long now, that the World Championship really doesn’t feel that relevant.

They are obviously building Roode, but with Team 3D and the Hardyz etc taking the Main Events, it doesn’t feel like the right place for the Championship, or even that Roode seems to be the right guy to take the belt.

Another reason we don’t need Alberto Del Rio.

One thing is for sure though, and that this match was awesome.

MVP is still limping around, but King, Lashley, EY, Roode and especially Austin Aries are all on top form. Put them together in a match that is fast paced, impactful and continously moving, it creates something special.

It really is hard to look at Roode as the favourite, even though Aries lost to Lashley, and then again lost his match, just in the ring, Aries is on another level to everyone, always is. How do you put that in second place.

MVP hit Aries with his Crutch behind the Ref’s back leaving Aries ripe for the Lashley spear, and the win.

bluelineThe Hardyz vs. Team 3D

What can I say. Team 3D walked out in their old school Camo, Matt and Jeff, well they’ve always looked fairly similiair to how they look now. Though if they both rocked the black jeans, Matt with his black shirt and white stripe on the sleeve his big arm bands and Jeff the same with his arm bands (also how cool are Jeff’s Arm Bands) I would be giddy if they did that.

Still don’t think the music is impactful enough, but it works alright.

I don’t know if it’s just my childhood nostalgia, but this was something. My favourite Wrestling Promotion, my all-time favourite Tag-Team the Hardy Boyz facing off against their best opponents, Team 3D easily the best Tag-Team in Wrestling history. Just something to behold, in 2014.

From the get go I was hooked, but to make it all that much better, this match was fantastic!

Which if you remembered at the start of The Jobber Blogger I had a rant about The Rock and John Cena. Well as a young Wrestling fan, obviously The Rock was one of my favourites too, who didn’t like him?

Though 2003 Hollywood Rock heel run – his best work, ever!

Aside from that, let’s move on.

Rock wasn’t all that great as a Wrestler, obviously he as an entertainer, untouchable.

But as a young Wrestling fan, you don’t really pay attention to the neuances of Wrestling technicality.

Which is why when Matt and Jeff go up against Team 3D, it was magic then, and it was magic now.

Though the difference would be all of them have stayed active in Wrestling, Bully and Devon completely re-shaping themselves psyhically and mentally, Matt and Jeff going through what they have, and Jeff easily being in the best position he’s ever been, with his best Work he’s ever done, right now.

So yeah, it’s not apples to apples here.

If there is anything that bugs me about this match, is two things.

One, I feel Matt and Jeff could have pulled out a few bigger patented Hardy moves, but then, they should also save them for another time.

Two, Devon kicked out far too easily from the Twist of Fate and Swanton.

But of course the 3D is just pure awesome as a Double Team move, so credit goes to Team 3D, and even though I’m a Hardy fan through and through, no matter what. Team 3D should have picked up the win, and they did.

What more can I say, if you grew up in the same Generation as me, then you will no doubt feel the same as a I do.

Fantastic match, utterly awesome from in the ring, just to the moment of itself, to nostalgia to everything.

Match of the Year nominee, no doubt about it.

Team3DHardyz

bluelineImpact was a packed show and it was a great show. A shame they took a dive in the ratings, because TNA do deliver a lot of great work, it just falls short.

Hardcore Justice is coming at us next week, and given that it’s still in New York, it’s going to be brutal.

Bram vs. Abyss – Stairway to Janice

Samoa Joe vs. Low Ki – X-Division Championship

Six-Sides of Steel – Number One Contendership Match for the World Heavyweight Championship

bluelineShould be awesome.

Something that is probably smart, but also not as awesome is TNA moving to Wednesday nights in America.

Thursdays have always been their thing, aside from when they had the guts to go head to head with RAW, and didn’t really make a dint. But kudos to trying.

TNA want the ratings, and WWE is thinking of shifting Smackdown back to Wednesday.

I think it really sucks that TNA at least won’t try and go head to head with WWE’s second rated programme. I understand it.

It just feels a shame, and it almost feels like a step toward the end of their Spike TV contract.

I hope the Spike bosses love the shows and Wednesday prove successful, either way, TNA needs to find a new home, because even though they make dumb errors almost constantly they still put on a great show.

And when they get it right, They Get it 100% right.

TNA fan till the end!

Till then,

THE JOBBER BLOGGER #116 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 17/7/14

Jobber Blogger logo2Yes, Finally, we hit the New York shows.

And guess what. They’re alright. Not… great? Well, it was good! Really good!

But it had one main issue, least for me. They tried too hard. It was ECW all over the place. Taz kicking off the show, in the crowd. Doing his old catch phrases. Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer, then Rhino, Devon returning. Everything was BS from that one time in Wrestling that they managed to do something “different”. But it was a select kind of different, not a main stream type of different. “Everyone’s got the same look in their eyes!”.

TNA’s been plugging this whole ECW thing since day one, trying to be the edgy company, trying to find the similarities, now TNA is going back to their “roots” with the 6-sided ring. All this does is encourage people to chant ECW. I for one get a kick out of the organic TNA Chants. This isn’t ECW. Nor should it ever be. And the only thing more depressing than trying to re-create something that wasn’t all that great in the first place, is bringing back the guys that did it, for no reason other than that. Hey look, here’s Tommy Dreamer again, after his first really unsuccessful run in TNA, and now Rhino’s back. Hey Rhino used to be a big deal in TNA, then he left, then they brought him back for their ECW Revival, and got rid of him shortly after… now he’s back again.

TNA have just announced that they are bringing “Hardcore Justice” to their next TV Tapings in New York next month. Which pretty much means, hey look… ECW’s back…. again.

TNA is on a much bigger level than ECW, look at the stars they have. The calibre of talent. That’s not to say some of the guys from ECW weren’t talented, because they were, just not the majority.

TNA has the majority, and to label themselves, this company, which by all means is far Bigger and Better than ECW ever was, it just feels cheap. Focus on what makes TNA great. Rather trying to pander to an old audience of what, 4 years prime, 15 years ago, so that audience then see’s their old favourite under-ground stars telling you why you should like TNA. Here’s an idea, just show people TNA Wrestling.

Aside from the odd occasion, it seems liking TNA is becoming less of a “cool” thing. TNA chants used to dominate like the old ECW chants did, and still do. Yet during this show, ECW and ROH chants took centre stage. So well done on promoting everything else.

Woo!

On the plus side, New York did bring out some lovely creepy folks I laughed at in the Audience, which is probably my new favourite section!

Queue Creepy guy staring at the back of TAZ!

Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer vs. Rhino and EC3

How bad is that, I just wrote above “vs. Rhino and ECW”… ugh

So yes, ECW kicked off TNA. Which as I stated above… was great.

Bully Ray is once again sporting the Biker Cut, this time it’s a Bully Ray – 5150, which looks much less cool than the Aces and Eights one. Here’s a thing, the one person the Cut looked worse on, was Bully Ray. So that’s ironic.

irony

Rhino and EC3 came out after, with EC3 obviously playing the doofus, which really stands out with an ECW type of spot light. I’m sure that was the point.

Bully then got everything chanting Tables, and much to my surprise TNA didn’t even attempt to plug the fact that Rick Moranis was in attendance…

rick moranis

Well the 6-Sided ring is back, and I completely forgot it was till I started watching the show. I remember that being one of the big excitement moments, and now it’s back! It almost doesn’t look or feel quite as it did, given that it has the Impact Wrestling branding rather than the old school Black and Red from TNA Impact. Either way, it’s awesome to have it back, and I actually really enjoyed seeing how everyone Wrestled in it, who I haven’t seen compete in it before.

I think I mentioned this earlier, but for this Storyline to be where it is, and to the level it is, with Dreamer and mainly Rhino just coming back recently, feels a little odd.

I suppose when you have the history in place it writes itself… again. No idea how long Rhino will be sticking around for, we all know Dreamer is working with TNA behind the scenes, so he can easily pop up every so often.

Spud being the breath of fresh air he is in this old fashioned revival caused the distraction and EC3 pinned Tommy Dreamer. How much longer will this go on for you might ask, probably quite a while… maybe not, maybe even next week will be the end of it? So says..no one.

blueline

8-Man Gauntlet – X-Division Championship

Yes Kurt Angle is booking matches out of his ears, least no cheat sheet this week. But newly crowned X-Division Champion Austin Aries has the deck stacked. But I like the fact Aries’ character is one of “bring it on, I’m better than everybody you’ve got”. And we all know it, believe and encourage it.

He’s like the legit Eric Young.

Not that EY doesn’t mean it, only Aries backs it up with reality.

So here’s the thing that bugs me about the X-Division currently, and certainly this match. Well two things. But they go hand in hand here, almost.

Sort of.

fish manI Legitimately did NOT make that photo!

Kurt FishI did however make this one! =D so proud!

Austin Aries, Eddie Edwards, Davey Richards, Manik, Crazy Steve, Tigre Uno, Sanada make the 8-Men competing for the X-Division Championship, pretty much guaranteeing he who wins will get the chance to cash it in next week for a World Title Match at Destination-X.

It’s just like last year, only if Aries lost (which would really suck) it would far, far better than having someone, like, oh I dunno, Chris Sabin, be the World Champion. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!

Chris Sabin champ sucks

Moving on.

Here’s the problem, Crazy Steve, one of the best new-comers to TNA, awesome character, he’s different, people love him. I get that, it’s awesome. I love Crazy Steve. He’s the flip side to him, he’s a goof character, we all get it, that means he can get away with some things, maybe eliminate Robbie E, or something from a match. But no, The FIRST, FIRST!!! Person to be eliminated was Tigre Uno.

tigre uno fn

Hey, I praise Uno every time he steps in the ring, no-matter who he is with, Uno stands out. Hence why Uno vs. Aries would be amazing. TNA beat this guys drum when he joined the company, but now he’s being the first guy eliminated, by the goof character. Really? Is that how you sell people on this highly talented athlete. This makes me think, if it’s budget cutting time, Uno is gone. If his contract comes up, he’s not going to re-sign. Why would he?

I hope he gets a really good outing at Destination X, and I really hope after the World Title picture cools off, Uno actually gets the chance to raise to the challenge. Say going into BFG as the X-Division Champion, even if he loses, that would be sweet.

So yes, in the end, it came down to Aries and Sanada, the last two left then becomes a Pin-Fall / Submission outcome, and your down with the over-the-top-rope stuff. So it was like a mini rematch from last week’s fantastic bout. This, was also fantastic, which on the flip side, last year was similar with Aries and Sabin.

Only Sabin just didn’t cut it higher than that.

Aries once again kicked it up a notch, and defeated Sanada, rightfully so and retained the X-Division Championship. Here’s the thing, Aries is either not going to cash it in, because he’s “too smart”. Or he will cash it in, and lose. I don’t see Bobby Lashley dropping the belt anytime soon, (spoilers for the main event) and quite honestly, I don’t want him too either.

blueline

Kenny King and MVP vs. Bobby Roode and Eric Young

EY and Roode are officially Team Canada’ing it up. And it works. Roode is awesome.

What I’m confused on, is MVP’s injury. Because either he’s really good at selling, or he really isn’t fit to compete. Which I get it, he’s not really doing any kind of Wrestling, but just being back in that environment is bad news. He might have agreed to this, he might be 100% fine and just putting it on. OR he might be injured, and if he’s injured, this match wasn’t fun to watch. I get the storyline bullet dodging, I’m cool with that. If he actually isn’t 100%, he shouldn’t be in that ring, at all. I’m perfectly fine with that and perfectly in support of that.

The New York Tapings left me very confused as to where on earth the fans were in relation to being up to date with TNA. I’m fairly sure they’ve missed almost a Month’s worth of Television and Storyline Development before this show. So nothing would have made sense. Let’s be fair, that really sucks if you’re a fan going to watch your favourite Wrestling show and having all of it spoiled for you.

In the end MVP and King used the Crutches to beat down Roode and EY, getting a DQ.

However next week, Angle booked Roode vs. MVP in a falls count anywhere match. So either MVP is actually fine, or something shady is going down.

blueline

Madison Rayne vs. Brittany – No DQ

It’s weird putting the Women on a show in front of the New York fans, the “ECW” Crowd.

But guess what, Brittany and Madison Brought It!

The Knockouts are fantastic! I love them. I want more and more of them, one Knockout match a show used to be un-common for a brief period of time. Hey, I love it when they main event. I know on average there aren’t as many “high quality” Women’s Matches on the same scale as how the Men compete. But Angelina and Gail tore it down, and Madison and Brittany hit it right back. If this keeps up, I’ll have to re-think my categories for Match of the Year.

It was hard hitting, highly entertaining and just awesome! It makes me so happy to see Brittany in this light, because it emphasises what a great asset to the Division she is, and that’s what you want to see out of new talent. Madison we all know is great, but she’s been on a different level lately too.

Madison dropped Brittany with her “Package DDT” which is an awesome move, and took the win. Also on a side note, seriously happy Madison seems to have switched her finisher, because what she did before, the “mood swing”, knee to the back fall over thing, it was a little awkward, and not always that impactful. This Package DDT… is fantastic!

blueline

Jeff Hardy vs. Bobby Lashley – World Heavyweight Championship

So I gave ECW a lot of crap, and related it back to TNA. I love nostalgia more than the next guy, I guess ECW just wasn’t my thing. Not that I didn’t watch it, own some of it. I just don’t like a lot of it. I like the talent that came from it, and I understand the paying your dues, but Bully Ray is far more synonymous with the WWE and certainly TNA.

Regardless, this was a great show, the X-Division Gauntlet was great, Brittany vs. Madison was great, but it was easily Jeff Hardy and Bobby Lashley who stole the show.

I’ve said it before, but as a life-long Jeff Hardy fan, it’s amazing to see him at this stage of his career right now, doing the best work he’s ever done. Sure he’s had crazier matches in his past, and that part of his career could certainly look like his prime. But he’s never been delivering matches to this quality since he came back to TNA a few years ago.

So I shall say it, he’s certainly not for everyone, but I do feel those that are put off by his popularity or stance as a Face, respect his abilities and respect his position with TNA.

It actually felt really good to have Jeff Hardy back.

And Lashley, is legit. And I love that.

I love how he’s just big, tough, confident and highly talented. I love that he doesn’t talk, doesn’t back down. He’s what you want in a World Champion.

Not that I’m against EY, or Jeff or especially Austin Aries being Champ, just right now, I’m enjoying the Lashley train.

Lashley train2

It seems to be around this part of the year where you tend to get most of your “Match of the year” matches popping up, usually getting more and more as you head into the big PPV’s to close out the year.

This match, Hardy vs. Lashley, goes right into the Nominations. And it’s weird how just one moment in a match makes you feel on a different level, and that rises your excitement and involvement, and it’s that which boosts how you view it, for its entirety.

Yes, I’m talking about Jeff doing a Swanton Bomb from the Top Rope onto the Steel Steps. I’ve never seen that before.

I was shocked.

I expected him to do a Leg Drop or something, I didn’t expect him to a Swanton and Lashley to Move. Obviously they planned it, but it was awesome! Totally unexpected and a perfect finish. Jeff took himself out, Lashley speared him and got the Win. Perfect.

blueline

Dixie, EC3, Rhino and Spud closed out Impact, with Dixie showing she’s not afraid of Bully by going to the ring in front of his fans to protest the whole being “put through a Table” lark. Which obviously feels like it’s being put on far too thick, that sooner or later Dixie is going to have to go through a Table.

Bully has been losing for Months, getting his ass kicked, being put through Tables, by everyone. Yet he’s still built as this force. So sooner or later something is going to have to give, and you are in a Betting mood, I’d put a safe bet on the gears shifting next week.

Bully and Tommy Dreamer came out to battle, getting really close to putting Dixie through the table. Everyone escaped but EC3, and with the return of Devon, poor EC3 went through a Table.

So I might actually throw out my early prediction of Bully being a Heel. I think he’s face, with Devon, the hall of fame, and Dixie is going to have to go through a Table.. which seems absurd.

Till then!

THE JOBBER BLOGGER #115 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 10/7/14

Jobber Blogger logo2

Welcome, my legions and legions, at least a few, fans! Yes, TNA IMPACT has commenced, and finally! FINALLY! We’re hitting the New York shows next week! Now you might come forward and ask me, hey, Jobber Blogger, hey, Dan, why no TNA News over on TNR? I’ll tell you why. Because everything was leaking about these awesome New York shows…. nearly 3 weeks ago! 3 WEEKS! Well two and a bit, but I like to be dramatic and exaggerate. Also who knows when you read this?

The fact is, TNA taped these shows and from the very early things I read, they were awesome! And that’s all I want to know. I don’t want any spoilers, and unfortunately the internet is riddled with them. So, I just decided to avoid reading anything related to them. Thankfully currently it’s old news, yes that’s right, next week’s show is old news. I HATE TV Tapings. It’s terrible. Live! That’s what you want. Filming two shows back to back also sucks, we know you did it, why keep everything on this crazy blurred lines “next week” “I had a week to think about it” blah blah black bollocks.

Was that too much?

too much face

So yes, I’ve put off actually getting started with Writing this in favour of drinking large mugs of tea and watching The GameOverGreggy show. But hey, there’s only so many times you can watch an American eat ridiculous American foods right. Am I right?

I feel I’m right.

i'm right

TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 10/7/14

Guess what everybody! Kurt Angle is no longer the Director of Wrestling Operations! Which was the role MVP somehow managed to get with a title that makes no sense. But he got fired and that job went to Kurt Angle, but he’s had a name promotion, he’s now the TNA Executive Director!

Yep, these titles mean nothing.

TNA’s Executive Director of Wrestling Operations will surely be next, with his replacement being The Executive responsible for Directing the Operations of TNA’s Wrestling Based Television Programming Schedule of allotted Time Slots and Storyline Developments for all on-air Talent and Television Tapings which MAKE NO SENSE!

Good title.

Kurt Job Title

It’s very nearly the world we live in

Kurt kicked off the show with his “Cheat Sheet” once more, yay! There’s a good characteristic of the guy running the show – the one who has no idea what he’s done.

Kurt Fish

I’m sure he’s used that line in court too.

Was that too much?

blueline

So Angle announced the matches which TNA over-laid with Video, so if the start of your show was utterly boring enough having some guy yet again stand still talking about the matches you’re going to see, we instead will therefore make it that bit much more exciting by putting video over the top of him. Oh Wait? Couldn’t you have just have done that in the first place to explain the matches on the Card, WITHOUT having Kurt read from a piece of Paper?

jesusfacepalm

To make matters worse, they re-dubbed Kurt’s announcement of the Knockouts Match, which just made the entire thing look so poorly made and cheap, and just, really, put a little more effort and thought into these things. It felt very “that’ll do”, we’ve put Reverb on Kurt’s obvious voice-over, so it’s close enough. Pfft.

So yes the interesting part was Kurt calling out Willow, and then calling Jeff Hardy “the most competitive Wrestler on the roster” which really, against the likes of Bobby Roode, James Storm, and clearly Austin Aries, it’s a little bit of a stretch. But Kurt wanted to reassure Jeff that he’s not MVP

Kurt not MVP

And certainly, that he isn’t Dixie Carter

Kurt Not Dixie

So with that being said, Willow can leave and Jeff doesn’t need to hide behind “violent” reasons of being “wrongly treated”. And yup, that was supposed to be the main theme of the show, it was just underplayed physically, and then with Mike Tenay’s constant ramblings on commentary about whether or not Jeff Hardy will show up just annoyed me a little.

Magnus and Bram vs. The Wolves – World Tag-Team Championships

So Magnus has shifted from the World Championship scene straight to the Tag-Team Championship scene by being teamed up with a new comer who is better than he is. So that’s something.

Not to mention a new comer who would be much, MUCH better off being teamed with the likes of Gunner or Storm (aside from the fact we’re all sick to death of Storm in new tag teams).

Here’s the problem, Magnus feels like the afterthought now. The Wolves are more impressive and entertaining in the ring. And Bram is just generally more entertaining, he’s very unhinged, he looks better, his music is better. He doesn’t wear a body warmer thinking it makes him look like a tough guy.

bodywarmers

So I’m Immature…. what of it!

Davey Richards (again) turned up the pace, getting a Sun-set flip on Bram, with Eddie doing the pin-with bridge for the Win. This led to Bram getting annoyed and attacking the Wolves straight after the bell with Magnus trying to pull him off of them. So I’d say Magnus and Bram might be getting the belts sooner or later. I don’t know if that’s good or not?

Bobby Roode (who already looks awesome) just with a few weeks back to being a baby face, but his music is cool and Roode is just awesome. Totally down with it.

I did like that Roode talked about doing anything possible to keep the one thing you want the most. Which at first thought was a little gay as I assumed he meant beating up MVP. But he was talking about his World Championship run, so that was awesome, it was Roode levelling with the fans as to why he did what he did. Which makes sense, not to mention he’s still (in my opinion) the best World Champion of recent memory, in any Company. Not sure if that holds its weight as a Face to the same degree.

Anywho, MVP came out in a wheel chair, Roode went on the attack, King got involved, EY got involved, Bobby Lashley got involved. Etc.

I like it because you sort of forget that MVP, King and Lashley was “going somewhere”. This whole – no one’s put together a stable like this before, for only a matter of weeks before they’re now irrelevant.

Which to me, brings forth the most interesting Question in this current predicament, “What is MVP’s Place in the Company now?”

He came in as the new investor, it was different, interesting, turned heel and all that crap, but it wasn’t “horrible” despite we’ve seen it I don’t know how many times before. But now, he’s just MVP. He has no power, he’s not really a Wrestler on the roster. I don’t know where he is.

I don’t see him rising up to the Main Event scene any time soon. I think that time has gone with his injury and a new direction (a better direction).

So what is there that is going to keep MVP in TNA? Because I don’t think just being a Wrestler in endless grudge matches, is going to be enough. Time will tell.

Austin Aries vs. Sanada – X-Division Championship

So first of all, I do apologise to Linda, I made a note of course to mention this match up last week, but then it’s sort of like, why?

Because nothing really happened, so it just made more sense to give the back story when I have the actual match to talk about.

Yes Aries sat down with Kurt Angle last week to talk about his re-match for the X-Division Championship since losing it to Sanada before Lockdown. And so Angle gave him his re-match. This led to Aries and Angle having this weird “mutual respect” kind of talk about wanting to Wrestle each other to see who is the best. Funny thing is, Angle said he wants that match, but Angle won’t be cleared to compete before his contract is up. He’s already (apparently) turned down a new TNA Contract, and he’s recently stated that his next Contract could quite easily be his last, so everything points to him being out of TNA by the end of the year. So no Angle vs. Aries. Besides, there’s only one person who would disagree with Angle, and that’s Angle. Kurt probably was the best Wrestler, but Aries holds that position now.

And let’s look at the facts for that opinion, purely with this very match.

It was AWESOME!

Of course if you’re a Wrestling fan, I don’t need to tell you it was awesome, hell if you were like me, you’d know it was awesome before the match even got started.

This puts Sanada in a great light, and obviously, just further increases the credibility of Austin Aries.

So it’s simple really, I was struggling to find reasons for why Aries could be the “Wrestler of the Year” again this year, but this match, makes up for all of those matches where he wasn’t even on the Show, because in one match, he’s out-done everyone else in the Roster for the last half of a year.

AustinAriesthebestSure we had James Storm talking to Sanada again, which I still feel is really out of character for the Cowboy, but I hope they have a good “development idea” for that story.

Also something else which was pretty awesome, there was one hell of an Austin Aries chant going on during Sanada’s entrance, and that Chant fit Sanada’s music perfectly!

Another reason Aries should be at the top, no-one else draws that much of a reaction, and it’s entirely based on his Work. Doesn’t matter where he is in the card, what kind of silly storyline, Austin Aries = legit, and Wrestling fans know it. On the flip side you can say Jeff Hardy draws the biggest reaction, maybe so, but his fan base is totally different, not to mention, he can also draw a negative reaction, especially when pitted against Austin Aries. So it’s just kind of baffling why Aries isn’t always in the lead within TNA’s rankings.

So what about this match? Just freakin’ watch it.

Awesome stuff, Austin Aries picks up the win and becomes the x5 time X-Division Champion.

Which comes to a realisation I had, which I shall get back to later!

And of course, this goes down into the “Match of the Year category” without a doubt, probably the runner…. not that I remember the others… also a good sign.

Bully calls out Rhino, and Rhino comes out with EC3 and Spud. So I liked the “shoot” kind of feel about this confrontation. Aside from the fact it’s firmly stuck in Storyline “whatever”. They mentioned Paul Heyman, WWE, being fired from TNA, all kinds of stuff, it’s cool. But also, somewhat irrelevant.

One thing I’m 100% against is that everything needs to be done for “reasons” and that people need to know them. I’ve always hated that. I like the fact that people want to know, but then why tell them? So Bully was over-bearing with his “WHY!!!!” “WHY RHINO!” “You were my friend” crap. I hate that too, especially from a guy like Bully Ray. He shouldn’t be after answers, it should be as simple as “I don’t care why, but I’m going to beat the crap out of him anyway”. Done.

In the end Bully got attacked and Tommy Dreamer came to his rescue. I also hate that the ECW guys have this “reoccurring” thing every other year or so. For someone that doesn’t give a flying crap, I’m even more sick of seeing it, again…. again…. again. I have a horrible feeling we’re not seeing ECW has-beens, and I’m sure it’s not the last time they all come out to play… again.

Angelina Love vs. Brittany vs. Madison Rayne vs. Gail Kim – Knockouts Championship

Totally legit complaint that Angelina didn’t get a fair one on one re-match for her Championship. I know it’s storyline crap booking, but it just makes no sense. If you have a face fighting Champion, or face wanting a rematch, and they WANT as many challenges / opponents, fair enough. But to screw them out of it, and then they’ll just play it off as Angelina complaining. But if she was a face then it’s “this isn’t fair!”. Meh, you’ve made the rules, stick to them.

Brittany was very impressive in this match, which is awesome. We need more Knockouts with interesting characters and awesome in the ring. The ending of the match was quite an eye-opener. Brittany ran and jumped over Gail did a handstand into the ropes, bounced back into a standing Moonsault, which was impressive. Madison then dropped Brittany with this over weird hug, trapped head, drop thing. Madison then got took out with Angelina’s awesomely cool Botox Injection, for Angelina to then fall prey to one of the most Creative Finishers – Gail’s Eat Defeat.

The majority of the guy’s finishers suck in comparison to all of those.

Not to mention I believe Gail is now a x4 Time Knockouts Champion, Madison x5? Angelina x6. Which makes the Knockouts Championship, and the X-Division Championship the best Titles to hold. Also the Tag-Team belts too, with actual Teams, like Beer Money back in the day.

So you have developed Wrestlers, in this very competitive focussed Division and not everyone has Championship runs, some have a few, and the best have a lot. That’s how it should be.

Look at the World Championship Scene, Austin Aries, once, Bobby Roode, once, James Storm, once, Eric Young, once, Jeff Hardy twice with a possible (won back quickly), Mr. Anderson once (with a quick win back I think?), Bully Ray, once (again with a quick win back, so doesn’t really count). The list is sooooo long. It’s stupid. AJ Styles, Sting, Kurt Angle, these guys held the belt a lot. But now it’s flavour of the month territory, whoever fits. Magnus was supposed to fit, that’s gone. It’s a mess.

Things seem to be shifting in Roode’s favour, especially with the Bound for Glory series up and coming, so he might actually (eventually) and hopefully get there again. But hell, I want Aries there again. They rotate the players so much that over half of their roster at some point has been World Champion once. That sucks. I get that you have a lot of good talent, but people reach limits, then drop so quickly, the turnover is far too great. Yet when you have guys who should always be in an arms length of the belt, they should remain with that distance. Rather than going off of TV or just being shoved in some stupid storyline or naff tag-team.

20 Man Over-The-Top-Rope Battle Royal – World Heavyweight Championship Number One Contender Match

I didn’t bother Writing down everyone who was in the match, because it’s not relevant.

Jeff Hardy came back which was supposed to be the big part of the show. It kinda worked… just not enough.

The only thing I like about that, is it gives Jeff enough time to be Jeff, so that one day, he can bring Willow back should he need to go to that “certain place” for a crazy match.

Crazy Steve was the first eliminated, that sucks. We’ve barely seen him do anything, yet he has a huge followed, an awesome character and people want to see him. Yet The Freak has a good bit of TV Time in this match, and he’s terrible.

Knux seemed to injure his leg I thought, not heard anything (but then not been looking?) hopefully he’s alright. I honestly hoped for a faceoff between Knux and Bully as a “look where we are now” type of moment after the Aces and Eights.

Abyss (who wasn’t in the match for some reason) came out to fight Bram. Storm and Roode seemed to be trying to build toward something, but it just got passed by. It’s weird how Roode is becoming a top Good guy again as Storm is now the top Heel (in my opinion).

In the end it came down to Eric Young and Jeff Hardy. It’s almost difficult to now look at EY as a threat, I know he was Champion at one point in time, but really, what’s the point now. Is he ever going to get there again?

Also what if he did win, Lashley would just go through him with ease.

So yes, the returning Jeff Hardy won the Battle Royal and will go on to face Bobby Lashley next week for the World Championship. I bet he doesn’t win, and Kenny King gets involved, and then the Hardy Boyz reunite to fight them… probably.

Jeff gave a promo after his win (and I really didn’t miss those) where he described himself as “Extremely Rougher than most” which I think amounts to “nothing really”.

jeffrougherthanmost

Lashley then came out and stood facing him. Which is better than a fight, I like a good stare down, and really, Jeff shouldn’t even stand a chance.

I’m excited for the New York shows, and you should be to!

Till then!
