Jobber Blogger New Year

Well it’s not Christmas Eve anymore, but then it’s not the New Year yet also, so it’s time to end the year with a bang! Least, from my perspective currently whilst Writing this blog, I hope it ends with a Bang. Not like my computer blows up, or someone knocks on the door or something, more like I hope this is a good one!

It’s been an Amazing Year folks, and thanks go out to all of those whom have Read my many ramblings in my first full year of doing this. It has flown by to be honest, and for anyone who wants to get into Writing and keeping up to date, then telling yourself you’re going to Cover a Weekly show is the way to do it. They provide the material, you sit back and make fun, and huzah! Let your Three Readers at best roll in to witness it all.

Well it’s soon to be a New Year, and like everyone, The Jobber Blogger hopes it brings new heights! And with certain plans in my pockets, who knows what might happen! Of course, until then, it’s time to do this for the consecutive Eighty Third time!

 TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 26/12/13

I suppose before we kick it into “Covering the Show” let’s plug Total Nonstop Rewind’s / Jobber Blogger presented – “Best of 2013”. Each day for the next week a new Category will go up on www.facebook.com/TotalNonstopRewind where you can view, comment and vote on your favourites from the chosen Nominees. So go get yourself over there now!

newcomer nom

Speaking of best new comers, Nominee 2013: Rockstar Spud kicked off Impact this week, with new Entrance theme… even less Rockstar than before. I think it’s time for a name change. Spud as a name is something I despise, I knew a guy named Spud.. so it’s degraded because of that, my other half knew a different guy named Spud, a girl I went to Uni with got nicknamed Spud, so yeah, I despise the name a little. But you know what, Rockstar Spud has a lot of qualities to best resemble “Spud”. I once created a Wrestler back in the old “Smackdown” games called “Neon”. He was a “Edge” inspired guy, mixed with GTA: Vice City, which the Magazine spread I was reading had a whole article on how the 80’s Neon Glow of the City set the stage and tone of the Game. So then Neon was born, and he was kinda crappy. I liked the idea, but he needed a make-over, so he became Neon Red, and Dark Neon, etc, each persona carried his abilities and general theme, but over time his look and attitude changed (as it so does in Wrestling) and his name was versatile enough to make the transition with him. He then became “Devil Neon” to team with my top CAW – Wild Thing and they sported similar looks. Till of course, inevitably they broke up as a Team and were forced to battle each other over who keeps the image. Wild Thing won, being the original (though it literally could have gone either way) so poor Neon had to once again go under a new style, and lose the one gimmick that brought him success. And so he became Poisneon a mix on neon and poison, and re-branded himself ala Sting. A look which proved very successful.

Okay, so I shall stop talking about the insane amount of Hours I spent on my own Make Believe Wrestling Federation, where I filled every single available Create-A-Wrestler slot, and spent so many hours planning storylines and what not. My Nerdiness runs much, much deeper into my history of “Wrestling Federations”, I had Draws and Draws full of Wrestling Figures, and I used to plan out my Storylines “years” in advance, (a month was like a Week to me, so I get through a year pretty quickly). I then used to plan out RAW and SmackDown with matches, and interview slots, all of it to make sense for the right title changes and storyline development. I had many Note-Books full of PPV’s then when it got to the PPV, I used to set up my Tape-Recorder and do running commentary on it. I had a pile of CD’s on my left with my CD Player, I knew every track for which Theme, I knew every last Second of the Songs for the Right Entrance Music to the perfect “Winning Theme” point in the song. I had a load of Tissue Paper to elastic band round my desk light to create the right lighting for the Wrestlers. I had rolls and rolls of PVC tape I used to customise my figures for the right Wrist Tape and new Ring-Gear. I even made (with help) real fabric T-shirts for when I pushed my low-card guys to the Main Events. I had loads of elastic to make new and nifty Ring-Ropes, and I had loads of blocks of Polystyrene to create these huge (one of a kind) Stages for my PPV’s every Month. Well, top that off with my Video Game (CAWs) and eFed’s, then I think you get a pretty good idea of how Wrestling obsessed I was.

My figure Storylines peaked when I “retired / fired / quit” some of the guys from the WWE, and I had customised many of my old Figures to match the TNA guys, because back then Jaxxs made the WWE figures, and Matel I believe did the TNA ones (like the old WCW ones) so they did not match in size. So I customised the likes of Abyss, AJ Styles, Raven, Ron Killings, BG James, I retired Jeff Hardy, bought a new DDP, everything was getting ready for this big TNA Invasion and then I grew up. Change that with (I didn’t want to be embarrassed) and you have the real answer. So my TNA love goes back many, many years too. I really should get a job in the Wrestling Industry.

So anyway Rockstar Spud kicked off Impact this week with new music, how the hell did I get on that rant? Oh yes, name change. Spud suits him, Rockstar not so much anymore. I think if he went through “Changes / Gimmicks” Spud can stay intact, and he go back to being a Rockstar, and he can be Chief Spud, or something like that. It’s a Mick Foley esk character change, that works amazingly well. Mick himself put it best when he reverted back to Cactus Jack in time for his infamous Street Fight with HHH nearly 14 years ago!!!!! o.O

He went from Mankind to being Cactus Jack, and all he really did was “take off his shirt” but it’s the legacy and mind set he established with each gimmick that made him a New Character, and that Character was capable of different things. It’s an awesome idea that has only ever been done with Mick in Wrestling to any success. Not that Spud is the right guy for it, but that idea could certainly carry.

Spud was out to introduce the “Woman Responsible for everything” who is the equivalent of “Lady Gaga, Santa Clause and Queen Elizabeth” rolled into one. Which is strange, because Dixie Carter came out, and I was expecting someone more like

Queen Lady Santa

The running Gag being that Dixie had this big “Announcement” or in reality (a desperate struggle for Ratings) but before she could announce it, Jeff Hardy headed to the ring.

Jeff didn’t really have much to say, just going on about how he doesn’t care about Dixie, and Dixie’s “Champion” and blabbing on endlessly about being sick of everything. Spud however got in the face of Hardy, which is the more noteworthy part of Hardy’s involvement, noteworthy more so because I wrote it down in my notes. Still, Hardy throttled and threatened Spud, which is when EC3 attacked Hardy.

Dixie then went to finally make her announcement when Sting got involved. Sting’s whole point was that he is also “Sick and tired of these entitled punks” and demanded a match against them.

Which is where Dixie rejected the match, then made the match, and took credit for it. So that’s cool. The match being Sting and Hardy against Spud and EC3.

Gunner was then next in line to disrupt Dixie, wanting to Cash-In his World Title Shot against Magnus, but alas, Magnus was “abroad celebrating”.

And then Storm got involved stating Gunner owed him and wanted a Match for the Briefcase.

Storm is now getting more paranoid that Gunner was the one who tipped off Bobby Roode that he was in that Bar, and led to Storm getting beaten down, then got his ass kicked in the match with Roode, till Gunner “threw in the towel” Either way, Dixie agreed to letting Storm and Gunner fight it out for the Briefcase, and that being punishment for Gunner interrupting her, and therefore she isn’t going to make the announcement till later on in the show.

James Storm vs. Gunner – World Heavyweight Championship Shot – Briefcase

What do you call this Stipulation?

Anyway, the opening of Impact was actually pretty good, I liked the chaotic-ness of it all. Sure it was a tad anti-climatic but it worked well.

I was just about to get into this match, after noting Gunner is wearing is Iron Maiden attire again. Till of course, Tragedy struck.

I went to get comfy and inadvertently kicked my empty bowl of Noodles sending a stream of “Noodle Juice” across my carpet. The whole was like a horrible flash back to I believe Undertaker vs. Mark Henry many years ago on Smackdown (soon after he reverted back to the Deadman).I ran down in the commercial break to get a glass of milk and dropped the Milk… I have never, ever, seen anything like the mess it made. I literally covered every single Kitchen Cupboard in Milk. I just looked around with dripping Milk everywhere. The whole floor…. MILK! It’s safe to say I missed the match cleaning it up.

Least this time round I just pressed Pause, and cleaned the Carpet. But while I was at it, I figured I might as well get another Mug of Tea. Now I have this HUGE Mug, and trying to stir my boiling hot tea proved to be just as problematic. For I ended up dropping the Tea-Spoon into my mug, so to stir it, I needed the spoon, to get the Spoon I had to stick my fingers in boiling hot tea. Of course the Spoon is Metal, so even when I got the Spoon, it was boiling hot and I dropped it back in the Tea,…. many, many times. Sure I could have got another Spoon, or used a cloth or something. But you know what, screw it! I was determined to do it, and suffer! God Damn You Noodle Juice!

I since learnt you say that 3 Times in a Mirror and nothing happens. Maybe.

Noodle Juice

In the end though, Gunner Speared Storm through the ropes, and right then you could see how it was going to end. But alas, Storm bounced Gunner’s head into the Steel Steps when Hebner counted them both out. Funny how normally they do it so everyone pays attention, but when they want people to get counted out, they do it as quietly as possible. Still, it didn’t end there as Storm and Gunner carried on beating each other up.

But I don’t know if that’s such a good match for Storm, as Taz quite clearly said, Gunner is built like a “Brick Sh*t House”…. now that’s a Lego Set kids wouldn’t want for Christmas.

Brick House

Brooke and Bully shared a nice little segment, which might actually have been my favourite from this week’s show. It started with Brooke approaching Bully backstage and claiming to have not heard from him in weeks, and “Who is this?” she asks about his current persona. She then threatens to tell the World all his little secrets, to which he says “that’s not a good idea”.

But she goes to the ring anyway, she is now a “bimbo” or at best I could gather by her current gimmick. She’s always been a weird mix of awesome and slutty. And funny enough depending on where you stand on those boundaries, you will either find her entirely awesome or entirely slutty. Still, with new music she has ditched the “Don’t Mess with Tess” and become this more “biker ish, sort of, groupie”. But, I quite like it.

I think now is the perfect time for her to ditch the “Tessmacher” it’s been gone since she just became “Brooke” with The Aces and Eights, but just let her be Brooke Adams, it’s a good name.

Still, she refused to be held accountable for the demise of The Aces and Eights, even though she threw the Hammer, which Anderson caught and that led to his Victory, all of it was Bully’s plan, it just didn’t “go to plan”.

Bully then came out, with his 2003 Undertaker look

2003 taker

Bully quickly went from the Clay Morrow running the Club (minus the awesome ideas and great planning) and quickly has become the Clay Morrow with no club mooching around doing nothing.

Brooke encourages Bully to “Tell the Truth” which, who knows what that is. But what’s actually rather awesome is when Brooke shed light on the fact that she has watched him “Destroy and lose everything”. Bully is left with no Heavyweight Championship, no Club, no Brother, no Family, and that’s actually yet another really cool Character Development. Even if it is a little bit “AJ Styles”.

The fact she compared Bully to a “Weird High-School Kid with no Friends” is what topped the Segment for me. Now there’s a good Wrestling Gimmick they haven’t fully explored.

Bully then of course stole the segment by saying he doesn’t blame Brooke because “you’re not much in the Brains Department” “Kept you around for other uses, but you weren’t much good at those either”. The little “sometimes when we were together I used to picture Brooke number one” was an excellent cheap shot. Though Bully has one final use for Brooke, and that’s to spread his word.

Which is when the Segment got really good, and weird, and kinda cheesy as they played this ominous dark tone whilst Bully spoke about how “Evil” and “Sinister” he is, and that it’s only going to get “A lot Worse”.

So whatever they are building to with Bully should be awesome, no doubt going in a more Hardcore Direction, which seems fitting. Perhaps Tommy Dreamer plays into that with their match coming up soon on TNA’s One Night Only PPV.

Joseph Park vs. Bad Influence – Monsters Ball Match

If I can find it, I shall embed the Awesome Video Package they ran before this match. It was a great look at the whole Joseph Park / Abyss storyline, but it’s certainly running dry, which is why I fear they have just kicked it into over-drive to get it done with. Of course the bad side of that is I don’t think it will have reached its potential. Which is TNA’s greatest quote “It’s good… never reaches its Potential though”.

I’ve been saying it for years, TNA have great ideas and terrible execution with an even worse pay off.

EY got Park to enter with Abyss’ music, but they kept Joseph Park’s video. So that made a whole deal of sense.

Park kept Janice close, till of course Bad Influence knocked her out of Park’s hands, which is when they just beat him down for the majority of the match.

Speaking of beating things down, or even beating things in. Here’s a good plug for IGN’s Let’s Play with Christopher Daniels!…. yep, the whole wording of Beating, and then a title of “Let’s Play with Christopher Daniels” certainly paints a rather bleak image in one’s head.

IGN – Christopher Daniels – Let’s Play

Kaz was about to smash Park over the head with a Steel Chair till Daniels stopped him, so they didn’t make Park bleed, hence not bringing out his “Abyss mode”, strange how they’ve only just come to this conclusion a year later, and only because Eric Young pointed it out.

It was all a little odd, it mixed humour with this weird type of horror story thing. Obviously in the end Park tried to run away from Kaz and Daniels who were just beating him down till Eric Young came out to encourage Park. Though EY’s best efforts of “making him bleed” didn’t work out, in the end Kaz swung the Kendo stick which EY dodged and it busted Park open badly, sending him into Abyss mode.

Park then won the match with Blood everywhere and picked up Janice. So I don’t know if that means he is Abyss, or he has found Abyss or what. It didn’t involved barbed wire or thumb tacks, it didn’t really do a lot.

The thing is, if Park is only sent into this “Abyss” mode by seeing his own blood, why would you want to revert him back? Also if you want it to be a permanent thing, how is that going to work. Personally I think EY should just hit him over the head with different things to see which worked till it did. Though a weird mash up of a crazy Joseph Park with Abyss would be good. If the whole experiment went in a complete different direction and they made a hybrid, unstable, monster that tore through everything and everyone. That would be cool. I should write this show, I’ve got years of experience with Toys.

Lei’D Tapa (w/Gail Kim) vs. ODB

Gone are the days of “The Unstoppable Force meets The Immovable Object”  like the great Hogan / Andre battle. Nope, Taz summed this one up as “King Kong vs. OctoPussy” so that says a lot.

kong octopus

Before I go off into a semi-rant, let’s cut to the finish, Gail Kim slid the Knockouts Championship in the ring, which distracted the Ref, so when ODB picked up Lei’D Tapa to slam her, Gail pulled ODB’s hair and Tapa fell on top of her and got the victory.

I put “Weak” and underlined it twice.

Now what I mean by that, is Lei’D Tapa is built like a Female Wrestler we haven’t seen before. Sure we’ve had our Chyna’s and Awesome Kong’s and I’m sure there are similar Wrestlers like Tapa out in the indies. But on Television, Lei’D Tapa is “SOMETHING DIFFERENT”. For my money she’s better than Kong, she is built like the perfect giant, Amazon type. The way Matt Morgan was a giant built like a perfect Man, Tapa is the exact right proportion she should be, she’s just really Big. Now that makes her an attraction.

When she debuted she started by taking out all of the Knockouts with ease, now that was awesome. Then they made her Gail’s lackey and she’s been rather terrible ever since. Sure she would just be a Female in Squash matches, but the fact that Gail needed to help Tapa win? Now that makes her look incredibly Weak. The fact Madison Rayne beat Gail Kim last week, what the hell does that do for Lei’D Tapa.

You are going to have to flick a switch to be able to build her into what she is naturally built as. To say this was THE meeting between both Tapa and ODB it was forgettable. They should have devoted time to build it as a feud, to actually have suspense around their encounter. They missed every opportunity and in the process just flat lined Tapa’s potential.

During the show we had a “Rise of Magnus” video package that was Magnus talking about his journey to where he is now. It was one of those weird “Shoot / Work” videos, where he had genuine gripes of is shaky start and years spent to get somewhere. Mixed with the Work angel of his new Heel persona and cashing in on that opportunity to become the World Champion. With Magnus set to appear next week on Impact, I personally want to see him be full out Heel, new Music, new look, new attitude. I half suspect he will be, but time will tell.

Jeff Hardy and Sting vs. Ethan Carter the Third and Rockstar Spud and The Bromans (w/Zema Ion)

No you didn’t read that wrong, and yes you probably already watched the Show. Dixie finally made her announcement which if that got people to stay tuned to Impact and didn’t want to, then no, it was not worth their time. She purely said Magnus will be here next week. And then announced that The Bromans will be teaming with EC3 and Spud in this Handicap match.

Throughout the night Jeff has been a little off, Sting was trying to get him fired up, but Jeff didn’t seem to be biting. Then we saw him on the phone with his Wife Beth where he said “I need to do this”.

Anyway, Jeff hit a Senton Dive over the Ropes to take out everyone, so it made up for it. Also have I mentioned how good The Bromans are now that Zema is with them. I miss his DJ Desk, the idea of him making stupid noises and shouting out over the match is a highlight I want to see every week.

I guess the main story is that EC3 avoided fighting Sting, Spud avoided doing anything, which they are building this thing about Spud not actually being a capable Wrestler. Which I like, the work they’ve done with Spud in a matter of weeks has really paid off. He is perfect for this Role, and to have him seem like the “incapable” Wrestler is perfect. I never knew Steven Richards could Wrestle, I didn’t know that at all when Right to Censor first came on the scene. So to some, they won’t know anything about Spud, though Spud was Wrestling with the TNA guys 8 years ago in the UK, he’s been on the circuit a long time.

In the end though, Sting was cleaning house when EC3 caught him in a Roll Up from Behind and got the win. Which of course just annoyed Sting further, though with EC3 having a World Tag-Team Title Shot, I guess it’s quite obvious that Spud could indeed be his Partner. What is more interesting though is that they are friends with the Bromans, the Champions, so how they will resolve that issue will be interesting. It could be to turn Bromans Face if they refuse to “lose” to Dixie’s “boys”.

And then the show ended with Jeff apologising to Sting for last week, and for tonight. And did his really awkward screaming “I’m not buying into a single word your saying” speech where he said Dixie is driving him crazy (funny, because he went to meet with her two weeks ago, and clearly didn’t realise she was different then). He said he wants to Fight, but has no Fight left, and that he has Wrestled his Last Match for TNA – and then regrettably added “Until the Sun Shines on this Great Kingdom Once More!”. So much for going out with your head held high, just ruined a good speech.

Either way, this is the news that got people in a huff on the Internet about Jeff leaving TNA. The very idea someone in that crowd witnessed that Speech and thought he was actually leaving and it wasn’t storyline, just Baffles my mind. It is quite obviously Storyline and Jeff will be back at some point. Probably with AJ Styles, Chavo Guerrero, Sting maybe and Jeff Jarrett.

As they assemble to battle Dixie’s Power Trip. Hell, Hogan might even show up… hopefully not though, I don’t really miss him.

Here is my problem  though, sure this whole TNA Originals vs. Dixie Carter Power Trip thing is an awesome idea. Though it is still an invading Faction esk Idea. The bigger problem comes with the fact that having The Good Guys run the show is not anyway near as good as having the Bad Guys run the show. Dixie’s Heel Run has been some of the best work TNA has done, period. She is a great catalyst for everyone else to work off from, the friction between her and AJ was great. When Anderson came back and she was getting him arrested was awesome, shame that has died down. Hogan in charge was a little bit of a bore, so was Sting. So this is great currently. And she has EC3 and Spud who can take an Ass Kicking for her.

Still, whatever that are working towards excites me! And it should excite you too!

See you all in the New Year!

Till Then,

Dan Wilkinson

Come one, come all, and maybe a third! But that’s it. Ah yes, what seemed like a Funny idea in my head has quickly become that of a harsh reality. And my potential Three Readers… and that’s pushing my luck.

Speaking of pushing things though, I would like to take the time to Recommend this fine nifty album from a very multi talented individual, I give you – Misanthrope – by – Brian Altano.

BrianAltano-MISANTHROPE

http://misanthropealbum.com/

I feel like I have done good, but seriously, for anyone who might be an IGN reader, then of course, you’ll probably already know of this. But it’s a Great Album so send your support! Also it’s COMPLETELY FREE!!! You need to Pay Money to get things worse than this! So check it out!

It’s like Christmas has come early with my over-bearing generosity, but what has also come early has… nope, my mind didn’t work quick enough to make that into a joke… but then an innuendo did appear rather vividly, so I shall leave it at that. I might pride myself on bad jokes, poor demeanour and a stink so foul it makes your computer screen cry a little, but dirty jokes are beneath me!… like a Hooker.

 TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 12/12/13

One year later, and 12/12/12 is firmly behind us, gone are the chances of the same day, month and date landing on each other. But the world is still here, so there is that. And also on the Wednesday it was 11/12/13, and for those idiots out there who struggle to count, god bless the year!

Impact kicked off in a type of “impactful” way, though I do love a Wrestling show to start with Wrestling once in a while. A developing story through-out the night was Spud heading to Gainesville Georgia to bring back the TNA: World Heavyweight Championship from AJ Styles. But in the ring was the “Feast or Fired” briefcases and the Wheel of Dixie set up, though Kurt Angle turned up, trashed the set and moaned about Bobby Roode eliminating him from the World Title Tournament last week. Roode then blabbed about how he should be annoyed because he slipped off the Apron and went through a table, and then they had a fight! Angle declared he could beat Roode twice in one night… if only we knew what was coming next. So yes, clumsy start to the show aside, the 2 out of 3 Falls match set for next week should be awesome. Whilst on the topic, I miss themed 2 out of 3 Fall matches, but I don’t think we’ll be getting that come Final Resolution, and with Angle vs. Roode, that’s probably a good thing.

Bad Influence vs. Eric Young and Joseph Park

With a little pep talk backstage, EY told Park that he had a plan and not to worry “I know what’s inside you”. To be honest, this thing has escalated quicker than I thought it would have, but again no bad thing seeing as it has taken over a year to actually do something. During the match Park was held down and literally being slapped around by Christopher Daniels and Kazarian, EY stepped in to help, then tried to motivate Park, but in the end resorted to punching him in the head until he bled, so Park would go into “Abyss Mode”, which of course led to the victory.

EY then actually told Park to his face “18 Months ago you came looking for your brother, but you couldn’t find him, the reason you can’t find him, is because, You Are Abyss.” So hopefully this will get more interesting again soon, personally I would have preferred it if this Story didn’t drag out quite as long as it did, and it would have been better to play less on the fact that he turned into Abyss at the sight of his own blood, and have little sections where maybe Park would become more nervous backstage. Maybe looking through his Wrestling gear, then quickly shutting his bag, and later find out that he had the Abyss mask in his possession, things like that. Where the story is currently, I don’t know how they are going to tie it all together. What happened after Abyss fought Bully Ray and Bully led him outside, and he was never seen again. Surely that could be linked to The Aces and Eights, which made sense with Joseph Park showing up and finding out things for the faction. But that obviously never progressed, and now they aren’t together anymore. So what the hell happened to Abyss, why does Joseph Park exist as a “split personality” and just what was the point? I really hope they have something planned, but I can’t help but feel that closing the door on the Aces and Eights, and quickly wrapping up this Storyline is a way for them to shut out Eric Bischoff and start a fresh. So my hopes of it actually having an “ending” are unlikely.

Ethan Carter the Third issued his latest challenge, to one Jeremy Borash. Instead of a repeat from last week, The Icon Sting stepped up and ranted about “Entitlement” and told EC3 to “Man Up” and enter the Feast or Fired match later on in the night. Either that, or to face him one on one. Sting is the perfect guy to show a reflection between the old TNA and the new “Heel Dixie” TNA, and his whole issue with Entitlement either toward EC3 or eventually Magnus, is going to come full circle very soon, I’m sure. EC3 however got in Sting’s face and claimed he accepts, and then left to go enter himself into Feast or Fired. Though apparently Sting and EC3 are on a collision course, and personally…. I don’t know if that’s a good pairing. But time will tell.

Gail Kim (w/Lei’D Tapa) vs. —

Gail’s Open Challenge continues, and this week it was ODB who stepped up (sort of). Despite the fact that Gail’s Challenge is to people outside of TNA, though ODB was out gunning for Lei’D Tapa. So their inevitable bout can’t be far away! But as always, Gail and Tapa managed to beat down ODB, which is when the second best Surprise of the Night occurred, and Madison Rayne turned up to help out ODB.

Honestly, all these people moaning and complaining about TNA letting Madison go, obviously she was going to come back. And I am more than happy that she has, Madison is awesome, though she is still doing her “Heel Wave” thing, which doesn’t really suit a “face” Madison. She’s always been better as a Heel, so will be interesting to see how well she handles herself as a Good guy, or whether she will really quickly join up with Gail once more and be a Heel.

Dixie Carter headed to the ring to hold the “Face Off” between Magnus and Hardy one week before Dixie get’s “Her World Champion”. Also I hadn’t noticed before, but Dixie’s Eye’s are 100%, exactly the same as Jeff Hardy’s Painted on Eye’s. I wasn’t even sure if she had her eyes open or closed for the segment, till she blinked, and it was like, holy crap… they are her real eyes! FREAKY REAL EYES!!

dixie eyes

Magnus did the usual crap of “I Respect you more than anyone else in this business” which obviously will eventually turn out to be “I said it, so I got further, I hate you all”. As he has said the same speech to Sting, Angle and now Hardy…. so now we know he’s lying. Hardy then did his weird screaming speech about last year at Bound For Glory he won the World Championship by Defeating Austin Aries, and this year at Bound for Glory he only “Defeated Purpose”. Which to me… sounds like he was insulting himself.

Jeff defeat purpose

Though it could also be a slogan for Kurt Angle… as he defeats himself also.

Still Dixie then announced the match type for Hardy vs. Magnus next week, and it will be “Dixie Land”. A great idea with a crap name, so I’m sure after she’s done being a Heel, that the match will probably get a new name. From what I can gather, the idea is, the Belt is hung up high on the Entrance Ramp, and the match starts with both guys in a Steel Cage. You can only escape the Cage by going over the top, running up the entrance ramp, climbing a Ladder and getting down the World Championship. I love new Match Types, and this sounds like a blast, with some horrible injury potential. But should be good… maybe that’s why they put Hardy in the finals, as he will probably gladly fall off a Ladder, off a stage, through multiple tables… I called the ending.

Austin Aries vs. Chris Sabin – X-Division Championship

This match seemingly came out of nowhere, I saw a Graphic for it to promote the show, but it wasn’t built up at all. Which is great, I love random Championship matches, even more so when they have great endings and new Champions.

Though this match doesn’t live up to their X-Division Title match earlier on in the year (also with Manik). The ending itself made it an awesome match. Also Aries has a great beard…  I think that’s relevant Wrestling commentary right there.

Velvet played a part in the match, namely Sabin grabbing a hold of her and she getting dragged in the ring, and then tried to be used as a Distraction. But in the end Aries just dropped Sabin with the Brain Buster and won the X-Division Championship.

Given that Aries’ first run with the title was the longest in company history, I would be more than happy for him to hold the best till Destination-X next year, and Win the World Championship once more. Also for those of you who are counting, yes this is the Number One Surprise from Impact this week.

Spud trying to get the World Championship Belt back from AJ Styles was a true highlight of the show, I love random “backstage” videos on my Wrestling shows. And having Spud going through-out a Redneck country was awesome. Also I would like to say now that Spud has quickly become one of my favourites on Impact, he was alright before, but he really suits this role. He harassed some guy in a Petrol Station for Directions, talked in a racist manor to a bar maid, sang God Save the Queen really badly in a Pub, and in the end broke into AJ’s house to find the belt.. then sit down, then AJ caught him and Spud ran off. Great stuff! Here’s hoping for a new World title Design, coz I’ve never been a big fan of the Current one.

Feast or Fired

Anderson was the first out to enter the match, but then Bully Ray turned up and beat him up then Pile-Drive’d him on the Stage once more, and it was a horrible landing. But what was more horrible was Bully Ray instead of being the best Heel in the industry, not to mention one of the best Promo’s guys in the industry, he sat over Anderson for about 5 minutes quoting the Bible. I am sure there is a point, but I really don’t think it suits Bully’s character. Though it could also look like a new Bully Ray coming back with a Vengeance, which is really exciting.

Samoa Joe vs. Hernandez vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. Chris Sabin vs. Curry Man vs. Dewey Barnes vs. Norv Fernam vs. James Storm vs. Gunner vs. Zema Ion vs. Austin Aries vs. Ethan Carter the Third

Though there aren’t really any rules in the match, it’s simply grab a briefcase and get out, so people worked as Teams and it’s all out chaos. It was awesome.

A great concept, and I can’t wait to find out who got which Prize.

Everyone did this “Dive out of the Ring” thing, leaving only EC3 left, who toyed with the fans, then just grabbed a Briefcase and ran off, so I thought that was pretty good. Zema Ion grabbed the next case, and awesome to see him back in the Ring now that he’s back with the Bromans. Though I never cared for his Ring Attire, I like his new hair, so I hope he changes his Attire to fit also, then he’s cooking on all cylinders. Chavo Guerrero grabbed a Case with help from Hernandez, I really hope it’s not the Tag-Team one, coz that would really annoy me. And finally James Storm was well on his way to getting the last Briefcase when Gunner violently shoved Storm off the ropes and grabbed the briefcase for himself instead.

Earlier on in the night, Sabin and Aries both entered themselves into the match, given the change of hands with the X-Division Championship. Storm and Gunner also bumped heads once more, with them talking about the future of their team, plus Storm saying he could be the next World Champ, which Gunner obviously took offense at.

I hope it’s a good mix up, the whole potential of this match means it can shake things up. So Chavo having the Tag-Title shot would suck. I still think there is a chance that Storm will get the Briefcase from Gunner and end up getting fired. Who knows! But it would make sense to pad out Final Resolution before people find out which briefcase contains which prize.

After Magnus and Hardy had their Face to Face earlier in the night, Dixie invited them to her VIP banquet meal after the show, and it was Hardy who turned up, so that was awesome. Though we already know where things are probably going to end up, it’s still great to plant seeds.

Speaking of next week, Final Resolution is as follows:

Jeff Hardy vs. Magnus – New World Heavyweight Champion – Dixie Land Match

Kurt Angle vs. Bobby Roode – 2 out of 3 Falls

Gail Kim and Lei’D Tapa vs. ODB and Madison Rayne

and the results from Feast or Fired.

Should be a great show!

Till then.

The Jobber Blogger #79 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 28/11/13

Jobber-Blogge

Well it’s December, in what feels like no time at all. What’s worse is it’s Monday, I am officially well into my Fourth day into my Holiday, only Ten to go. Still, I am at least getting this week’s TNA: Impact written up with a glimmer regularity.

While it may no longer be Thanks Giving, I shall always give thanks to those whom made such a day possible. The American’s love to go out and celebrate their “American” traditions such as Thanks Giving, which has its roots firmly set in the English ways. But like everything they pride themselves on, we started it all! Not that this is a dig at the American culture by any stretch of the imagination, no, I for one would like to give them praise for creating “Black Friday”. Yup, they spend an entire day getting ready to Thank everyone for what they have, and not needing anything more. And then the next day they rush to the Supermarkets and beat the crap out of each other over inadequate pointless cheap deals on superficial materialistic gadgets. God bless America, and their weird, weird ways of living.

…Wrestling!

Impact Wrestling Logo

 TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 28/11/13

I am however thankful for TNA: Impact Wrestling, and they should be thankful for the UK holding their biggest Audience, what goes around comes around. Anywho! A special themed Thanks Giving show which highlight every year is who wears a silly Turkey suit, which I think sums up Thanks Giving perfectly. If anything, they should make it tradition that all Americans wear Turkey Suits on Thanks Giving and give thanks to all they have. And of course on behalf of the Englishmen who came before me, you’re quite welcome.

American Turkey

You guess it, for famous Americans, all I could think of was Obama, Bieber and Hilton! Huzah you lovely culture you!

Yup, nothing like a good bit of national ribbing and borderline racism to kick off a Blog! I do love a good rant!

Dixie Carter kicked off Impact… again, after a quick nosey through my notes it seems she hasn’t kicked off the show as much times as I’d like to make fun of. But that being said, the fact it feels like she does it every week is enough to make me complain! WRESTLING! DO YOU SPEAK IT?

Dixie’s first order of Business was to name a “Chief of Staff” to help her out in managing the Locker-room.  And I must be honest, I didn’t expect it to be Rockstar Spud, but apparently the British “know how to treat Royalty”.

Regardless of all that though, Spud for some reason has put on an even more over the top British accent, but he actually suits the role. What doesn’t suit the role though however, is the fact his name is Rockstar Spud, he created this whole “Rockstar” gimmick, and now he’s wearing a suit, so it’s a strange blend. I’ve always hated his name, though he is good at what he does. Being an arrogant small British guy is a great way to build awesome heat and for Spud to not only get his name out there , but to be the “fall guy” for Dixie.

Also to be announced are the World Title Tournament Matches – Kurt Angle vs. Magnus – Last Man Standing and Bobby Roode vs. Jeff Hardy – Tables Match. I expect Roode will help Angle lose, and Magnus till take advantage of the situation, then Angle will then play a part in Jeff winning, thus Magnus can fully turn heel against arguably TNA’s biggest Baby Face. But that’s just a guess.

The fact that Dixie now says she has “spun the wheel of Dixie” just makes the idea seem silly from the get go. Surely something went wrong with the spinning wheel, else what was the point.

But that’s little niggly bits in an otherwise awesome concept!

Ethan Carter the Third vs. Curry Man

One of Dixie’s other announcements was the “Winner Winner, Turkey Dinner” that everyone who wins on tonight’s show well be invited to a Thanks Giving meal.

EC3’s current trend is to chose opponents himself, and thankfully this debut has been awesome thus far, I know his matches are rather dull, and despite changing opponents, they are the same. But they debuted Three Wrestlers at the same time in a very clever way I didn’t expect, so big props for that, and now to have Carter choice some classic TNA stars is great also.

Though Curry Man happened to sound a lot like Christopher Daniels, I think that is pure coincidence, though what hair was poking out from under his mask also looked like a cheap party shop wig, but that’s neither here or there. What does matter is that Curry Man can dance! And boy did he!

Nope, that isn’t really all that relevant, so let’s just say, EC3 won in the typical fashion we’ve seen since he turned up at Bound for Glory.

What is worth noting is this:

Free Ticket dude

Velvet Sky vs. Lei’D Tapa (w/Gail Kim)

Despite that this marks Lei’D Tapa’s first match on Impact (aside from her Gut Check debut) TNA didn’t really do a lot to big it up. It’s something I’ve been waiting for since she turned up, personally I think they are building toward a Tapa vs. ODB, which would be an awesome bout for sure.

But that shouldn’t discount Velvet’s abilities, though obviously it’s sort of hard to take Velvet seriously when she goes up against… well anyone. So put her against Tapa and it’s just face palm territory should she gain any type of momentum.

One thing I don’t like about Lei’D Tapa so far is that she talks / shouts during the match, and also during some of her beat downs, I think she comes across much more meaningful and intimidating to just beat you down violently. Though I suppose she needs to talk, else her Ventriloquist act wouldn’t be quite as good?

Tapa Sock puppet

But alas, Tapa won in what was an impressive “official” debut.

Broman’s (w/DJ Zema Ion) vs. Dewey Barnes and Norv Fernum – Turkey Suit Match?

This all came about when Eric Young confronted the Broman’s and Zema Ion backstage with the Traditional Turkey Suit match. I’ve always been a fan of Robbie E, and obviously Jesse needed to be teamed with him, and thus far they have been awesome! But this segment is the absolute highlight!

Throw Zema Ion into the mix, and it’s perfect! And yes, this means that Zema is back in TNA! Zema left due to an illness but remained on good terms, and now he’s back! I always liked his in-ring skills, but I just couldn’t get into his gimmick. However upgrade that gimmick to work with the Broman’s, and he is awesome! A perfect fit to the team! Give him a DJ deck so he can shout and make stupid noises over their entrance and match is the best thing I’ve seen on Wrestling TV in a long time!

DJ Zema

It seems that Dewey and Norv are going to be sticking around as a Tag-Team, and their new music is still great, though they were defeated in around 20 seconds by the Broman’s, and then forced to dance around in Turkey suits. I think the idea was that they enjoyed the experience. Maybe “Turkey Boyz” as a team name?.. Struttin Wingz, Gobbled and Gooked,…. Weird Birdz?…. Giggly Flap Jacks?

Triumphant Turkeys?

This week’s the “Friends of AJ Styles” segment actually seemed to move things forward as Dixie shouted at AJ, for stealing her title, her property, and he was supposed to go home rather than build this world wide title defence thing. So apparently AJ has one week to return the Championship before she takes serious action. I can’t tell if it’s too soon for AJ to be coming back, or if something else will happen. I think personally we need to forget a little about AJ, and have Dixie rule with no doubt Magnus as Champion for a little while before AJ crashed the party. But I certainly look forward to seeing what they have planned.

Mr. Anderson held a Funeral for The Aces and Eights, which was attended by Samoa Joe, Magnus, Kurt Angle, Eric Young and Mike Tenay… still no Sting?

Though the idea of this segment seems stupid, and yes, it did run a little too long, however it was superb! Wrestling truly is the weirdest mix of everything you can think of, and shows like this week’s was a wonderful refresher of what Wrestling can be. Let’s be honest, since Hogan has been gone, TNA has been amazing… o.O I didn’t think I would say that.

Whilst Anderson and the Priest rattled on about The Aces and Eights, Magnus was on the phone, Joe was eating, EY was in tears! Tenay “Why are you crying?” – EY “I don’t know!”

Though Kurt had to make a stupid speech about D’Lo brown and through a Bobble Head into the casket, which was a little pointless. Joe decided to give them some James Storm Beer, but then handed it out to everyone but not Kurt Angle, which I found rather funny. Mike Tenay places Taz’s Cut into the casket but keeps Brooke’s shorts which he sneaks away into his jacket, which then led to a cut away of Magnus pointing and nodding which was even funnier if I’m honest. And then EY had the Turkey suit which he started crying over.

Bully however crashed the segment, looking like AJ styles in a homeless man kind of way, declaring that this isn’t the “end” it’s the “final awakening” so I hope to see some awesome things between Bully and Anderson which I imagine will be a great feud leading into the new year.

Bobby Roode, Kazarian, Christopher Daniels and Chris Sabin vs. Kurt Angle, James Storm, Gunner and Magnus – Elimination 8-Man Tag

Team Roode vs. Team Angle being the Main Event is an interesting one,  I feel fairly sure that they won’t meet in the Finals of the World Title Tournament, but will remain a top feud in TNA.

However the choice to have the entire Team Angle lose instantly was an odd one. Don’t get me wrong, I love that they did it. I personally hate the old “face looses first but fights back” crap.

The fact that Team Roode dominated the match was great, pinning out Storm and Gunner rather quickly, and then Magnus “hurt his knee”, leaving just Angle to fight.

Kurt did his best, actually building quite an offensive against Team Roode single handily. The numerous Suplexes and Ankle Locks was a great touch, but obviously his odds of Winning was not in his favour. And I love that they didn’t have Angle “defy the odds” instead he just wailed on them all with a Steel Chair, getting himself DQ’d in the process, but that made for a much better ending.

Though it does make Roode look increasingly stronger than Angle, given that Angle defeated himself twice too. It also makes Storm and Gunner look rubbish, given that they spent a good bit of Air-Time to build how powerful Gunner was originally. And no doubt Magnus wasn’t that injured and that will play a part next week when he faces Kurt one on one in the Semi-Finals of the Title Tournament.

Winner, Winner – Turkey Dinner

Spud was in charge of the festive meal, which actually led a good few backstage segments through-out the night where he was complaining from the lack of Fish and Chips, Sunday Lunch and Toad in the Hole. To top it all off was the “Bloody Yanks!” remark.

It’s a bold move of TNA to have their “Thanks Giving” show dominated by Heels. Velvet Sky accompanied Sabin to the Dinner, but was then kicked out, giving Zema Ion a place at the Table. What bugged me the most was Gail Kim sitting at the Table leaving Lei’D Tapa just standing there. I am becoming increasingly more sure that Tapa will eventually turn on Gail in her open challenge.

Bad Influence also kept up the bashing of Joseph Park through-out the show, no doubt this will eventually lead to his return or Abyss or whatever.

Either way, Kurt Angle crashed the Dinner, claiming them all to be losers, and cheated to win! Which actually no one cheated and clearly they all won their match. If anything it makes the good guys look really bad and sore losers. Though that didn’t stop Angle, Gunner, Storm, EY, ODB, Velvet, Norv and Dewey from having a big food fight / brawl to close the show amongst the loud “TNA, TNA, TNA!” Chants from the crowd.

The good ol TNA Chant is something that warms my heart, though I much prefer it when it’s spontaneous from awesome matches, rather than just random good guy vs. bad guy food fights. However this week’s show packed in enough craziness to make it stand out as a great episode of Impact. With the Semi-Finals of the World Title Tournament next week, not to mention AJ’s deadline to hand back the belt, it should continue to be awesome!

TNA’s new direction has been fantastic, so here’s hoping it continues to deliver!

Till then!

Dan.

The Jobber Blogger #77 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 14/11/13

Jobber Blogger Spray

I guess Saturdays are the new Monday.. well, with regards to having time to Write, rather than the horrible feeling of dread when it comes to School, Work or the Dole Office (say hi to AJ for me).

Of course, it probably isn’t a good thing that my Blog brings with it a certain amount of Dread, that should be something I should correct, but time is of the essence, and the best thing about essence is that it carries a Distinct Smell. Sort of like Disinfectant, least only by the fact they share the same opening 3 letters.

I guess I could make a Disinfectant themed Jobber Blogger banner, I shall add it in my Ponder Basket and see what happens after I re-evaluate my “Can’t Be Arsed” Basket’s current dilemma.

Impact Wrestling Logo

TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 14/11/13

TNA did a good job of keeping up its current standards. Since Bound for Glory the show has felt much more polished, even if it hasn’t quite gathered the initial excitement from the first show to follow the PPV. It’s certainly much better than having a big ranting issue about things coming just short of expectations.

The Aces and Eights kicked off Impact showing their new “aligned” faction. Part of me feels there were multiple ways this could have gone, BFG itself looked as if The Aces and Eights were going to show up in full effect once more, given Bully’s backstage promo had him talking to “unseen” former members. Then no one came to his aid, and Impact following looked as if Garret and Knux were responsible for getting Anderson out of Jail, and Anderson taking charge as a possible new leader. Then all of that was reversed to undo all of this “internal heat” and just keep Aces and Eights together as a faction.

Either way, I think it is safe to say The Aces and Eights are finished as of next week. Bully accepted Anderson’s match, and Anderson raised the stakes to if he wins The Aces and Eights disband, and if Bully wins, Anderson will leave TNA for good. Through in some nice heartfelt threats like “I would love to Pile-Drive you’re pregnant wife” and you have the opening of the show, with of course some lovely fighting to boot!

Knux vs. Anderson

Anderson didn’t want to wait till next week to get his hands on The Aces and Eights, so an impromptu match was added pitting Anderson against Knux. I think it’s fairly safe to say Anderson will be winning next week, though an unexpected twist or turn would be a lovely addition. Still, Anderson won’t be leaving just yet. I worry that if Anderson does the whole “solo” thing once more, will he go back to just being boring and irrelevant as he was before he joined The Aces and Eights. You need to find that sweet spot with him, and it’s between being Face and Heel, more Heel than Face is where Anderson thrives. He needs the old Stone Cold type backstage segments and great promo’s to keep him afloat.

As for the match at hand, Anderson spent the majority of it getting picked apart by Knux. Still seems like we’ve never really had a chance to see Knux be himself, I personally didn’t care till he stepped up with some great promo’s against Bully, but I would bet after next week we probably won’t see much of him again.

I can’t help but feel there is so much un tapped potential within the Faction, but on average I guess they didn’t hit it big with the audience, and they have probably dragged this all out far too much. The Aces and Eights will always remain as a stupid themed faction with awesome potential, that never ever achieved the heights people thought it would.

Anderson in the last second caught Knux with the Mic Check and won the match.

Also the mic check sucks, I’ve never understood that move, or even the desire for that to be you’re finisher. It looks awkward and messy to set up, and the payoff is minimal. But then Sting managed to make a Reverse DDT a Finishing Move, and that sucks just as much.

Christopher Daniels vs. Joseph Park

It seems a lot of “Story telling” is now going to be told by the Wrestlers themselves in their own time with these “365 – Where Action Never Ends” short videos. A novel idea, but if it pays off or not in the long run is what will be the deciding factor. On a personal level I find my own attention to Social Media to be lacking, it’s a cesspool of cowardly hate, and pathetic attempts to market apologies to anyone who should be remotely offended to the slightest thing.

Still, Park challenged Daniels because he through his Apple-Tini in his face last week. So Daniels in his own little video with Kazarian and later Roode, accepted, in his own hilarious manor of “He looked thirsty, so I gave him a drink, his stamina has always been in question”.

The story of Joseph Park is an odd one, I guess more on this later? But he seems much more capable in the ring, I know he’s been getting better. But straight away he seemed “confident or efficient” where as I only remember him being better, but anxious.

Joseph Park has also probably run his course, and really, when it’s all said and done, he is a great Character and extremely well played, but people want Abyss, and they want this to “go” somewhere. Rather than remain as stagnant as it currently is.

Daniels landed a Low-Blow on Park, and picked up the Win.

Ethan Carter the Third vs. Norv Ferman and Dewey Barnes – 2 on 1 Handicap Match

In what at first seemed like you’re basic run of squash matches, they have cleverly introduced 3 new Wrestlers. Whether or not Norv and Dewey will remain once EC3 has been “developed” remains to be seen. Either way, Norv and Dewey, little by little are getting more over with the audience, so a possible Team is not out of the Question.

What is more exciting though was the plugging of Playstation 4’s Launch Party Event on Spike TV following Impact. So I hope that helped pay off with some ratings. I would love to see Impact and Playstation form a type of Marketing Team. My favourite Games Company meets my Favourite Wrestling Company, it’s perfect!

Also EC3 won.

PS4

Well thankfully it seems that this “Friends of AJ Styles” thing is actually planted in the show, rather than it just being ran. I am pleased Dixie acknowledges this, because it annoyed me a little last week.

CONTINUED!

Yes, I took the rest of Saturday off, something about a String of early mornings and late nights at work seemed to have defeated me yesterday. I went from feeling rather “with it” to a more tired, rushing type of sense. And all of you don’t read this for rubbish purposes! You read this to be entertained, to laugh, to smile, to hate me and never read it again.

So yeah, Dixie had a big Stink over the Friends of AJ Styles’ video updates, and she is determined to get to the Bottom of it. So much so that we even have a clip of her on Impact’s “Where Action Never Ends” Storming out of a Spike TV meeting, as they stated that AJ has a “share” of TV Time slotted to him. I personally would have used that time to just stand still and fart with a stupid expression, but I guess showing the Title Defence’s makes sense too?

Dixie then headed to the ring to talk about her “Most Brilliant Heavyweight Championship Tournament in Wrestling History”, for the record, it is a great idea! What makes it even better is she goes on to say “last week Jeff Hardy defeated… someone”. So I guess she didn’t watch the show.. or she forgot? But can we blame her? Really, it was Chris Sabin?

Forgetting Sabin

Dixie went on to announce the Match Stipulations between Storm and Roode, Joe and Magnus. Storm and Roode will compete in a “Bull rope Match” which I assume means they are tied together. Always been a rather “silly” idea, but there have been a few which have worked out alright. I have 100% faith in Storm and Roode to tear it down, but whilst on the topic of them both, Storm looked like a Main Event guy again this week. He has a great style, awesome in the ring, and he’s gotten so much better on the mic, it’s just a shame he has been bogged down in meaningless stories of late, so hopefully some higher calibre feuds are in his future.

Joe and Magnus on the other hand will compete in a “Falls Count Anywhere” Match, whether or not these two will go full on with their physicality is unknown, given that they might play the “mutual respect” angle, before Magnus fully turns it up. Either way, Magnus will be winning this one, and I would bet Roode will beat Storm too.

However Samoa Joe wasn’t finished, as he took this time to get on Dixie’s case about her “Bad Business Decisions” and Joe is determined to Win this Tournament and then he will defend the TNA Championship against AJ Styles, wherever in the world, like any honourable champion would. This marks the first time anyone has actually stood up for AJ, so yay Joe? I still think Joe, or Storm, Hardy (because he has too) and maybe even Angle would have dropped out of the Tournament in favour of AJ’s recent quest for change.

Gail Kim (w/Lei’D Tapa) vs. Hannah Blossom

Hot on the heels of Gail’s “open challenge” from last week, TNA Boot-camp star Hannah Blossom makes her first TNA appearance since the London Shows back in February. It’s nice to know she’s still around, and this seems like as good a time as any to Plug a Podcast I did late last year once more! So have it!

Although Hannah actually put up a good showing, it was Gail who obviously took the win, with the help of her Figure Four on the outside around the Ring Post, and then of course “Eat Defeat” for the pinfall.

But perhaps the biggest thing to mention was that I believe the Crowd were Chanting:

Lei'd Tampon

Joseph Park came back to the ring, stating that he first came to TNA over a Year and a Half ago when he was searching for Abyss. Funny how he never actually found him and then since that point hasn’t bothered trying to find him. All I remember is that “Abyss” warned him that if he gets too close to the fire he will get burnt, and that he should stay away. And he didn’t stay away, and he was fine because of it. I am sure this was supposed to play into the Aces and Eights storyline, but nothing happened, so who knows.

Anywho, he loves the fans and can’t leave, blah blah blah. It seems after all this time, it’s only Bad Influence who have upset him, claiming he will never be as good as his “brother”, and to prove a point to himself, he is at least going to try. So Park challenges Abyss to a match next week.

This is interesting though, it’s like Undertaker vs. Undertaker, or Kane vs. Kane. Only this one is actually slightly more creative, given that he is playing both Characters, and doing so extremely well. They will either get a double to play as Abyss, or something more exciting will happen where he starts to come to terms with he is, his brother.

Austin Aries vs. Kurt Angle – World Title Tournament – Submission Match

Should I find it funny that Angle wore the “Main Event Mafia” T-shirt to the ring after they disbanded last week, maybe he didn’t want to be left on his own? Or maybe he just didn’t get the Memo?

MEMO

Before this match gets underway, it is cut to go backstage, earlier on in the night The Aces and Eights wanted to cheer up Knux for losing, and all decided to go to the Strip Club, then Anderson got Garret who was stood in a corner by himself for some reason. Anderson handcuffed him, and then un-handcuffed him and carried him away. Makes sense…

Everyone knows Kurt Angle is great, but Impressive is the word I use on Austin Aries, I suppose Angle was impressive when he went into “Wrestling Machine” mode rather than being the silly Heel he started out as. But Aries just has “everything” in his arsenal.

Bobby Roode made his way to the Entrance Ramp and sat atop the stage watching the match, causing certain distractions for Kurt. And no, he wasn’t sat there making Arm-Pit trumps… although

Aries and Angle had a good match though, no doubt about it. Not on the same level as Angle and Roode, and not on the same level as Hardy and Sabin had last week. Angle countering Aries’ fast paced Dropkick into an Ankle lock was awesome, Aries’ set up of Dropkick / Brain-Buster and Last Chancery is always impressive. The best chain of moves came with Aries’ attempting a 450 Splash from the top rope, but Angle moved, Aries went to Roll through, but couldn’t with his ankle “injured”, Kurt grabbed him for an Angle Slam, which Aries countered mid move to a front face lock, once again looking for the Last Chancery.

The end came with Angle using the “Cross-Face” Roode’s finishing Submission, to get Aries to Tap-Out.

To finish the Show, Anderson came out straight after with a beaten down Garret Bischoff, Anderson then proceeded to Pile-Drive Bischoff on the entrance ramp, leaving Roode and Angle looking on in shock. Anderson then tore off Garret’s Cut.

Overall Impact was a strong show this week, and with Turning Point coming in fast for next Thursday’s Impact back in Orlando, it’s going to get even better.

James Storm vs. Bobby Roode – Bull rope Match

Samoa Joe vs. Magnus – Falls Count Anywhere

Anderson vs. Bully Ray – No DQ – Club vs. Career

Joseph Park vs. Abyss

Just to name a few, personally, I can’t wait!

Till then.

The Jobber Blogger #76 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 7/11/13

November 9, 2013 by DiVineDiablo

Jobber Blogger 7 11

I am on the Ball! Not literally, I tend to find chairs work best at a desk, though I have often contemplated sitting on one of those bouncy exorcise balls and rolling up the hip count, like Dwight. By now I expect everyone to realise that I speak utter crap, and obviously the very thought of Exorcise should tickle your thought bones! A Wrestling Fan being into Exorcise, hah! I think not, as I sit on my arse to watch over an hour of Wrestling a week stuffing my face with Strawberry Laces and the most movement I get is writing down pitiful, pointless, irrelevant comments for my Weekly Blog!

Yes! It Is I! The most pitiful, pointless, irrelevant Wrestling Blog on the Internet! Shove that in your Sock Holes! BRING IT ON!

Impact Wrestling Logo

 TNA: IMPAT WRESTLING – 7/11/13

Yup… if my “bothered” o-meter actually vibrated with productive tendencies, I might have actually got the “Chutzpah!” to make a Seven Eleven related Banner. Why is that even relevant? It’s not… really, that’s the short answer. I was playing that “Logo Quiz” game on my Phone and I got stuck on it, and I knew what it was, but all I kept entering was “Twenty Four Seven” damn you GTA and the years you’ve ruined my chances at Logo Quiz Games! It’s not violence that has sunk into my mind, it’s the incorrect names for shops, like I often question is it GAP or ZIP… which one was the less stupid of the two to be a Real Shop.

Dixie is seen backstage with, and I quote my notes accurately “Black Dude” when Anderson confronts her, asking for a Match with Bully Ray. Dixie of course is happy to play along as Bully has been the “Butt” in her thigh for quite some time now, letting AJ Styles make a mockery of her. Funny enough though, it’s literally Swings and Roundabouts because AJ Styles made a mockery of himself, or at least his “Friends” did, but more on that later.

Also I do believe that the new Voice Over guy sounds a lot like the Grindhouse Movie dude, and if that is true…. I am in heaven and I take back all of my criticism of his vocal chords and I shall kiss his blood stained shoes and concealed deadly weapon coat tails to the day I decide not to. Which might also be the same day I decided to take part… coincidently of course.

Main Event Mafia kicked off this week’s Impact, at least the “in ring” opening of the show, in what I would like to say is the best thing the Main Event Mafia has done… ever. And that’s to say “We not going to be a faction anymore” YES!!! This show is off to a great start.

Sting took centre stage to say that MEM was formed once again to Dethrone Bully Ray and to stop The Aces and Eights, and mission accomplished. Well yeah, I guess, but not really. Bully doesn’t have the title, true, but The Aces and Eights are still around, albeit a much worse version of what they once were. The idea that they needed to be stopped is just ridiculous anyway, they haven’t been a threat to anyone in over 6 Months.

Sting though is off on his new journey to Battle “Entitlement” which is as good a time as any to point out that:

Entitlement:

“to give somebody the right to have or to do something”

“to assign a title to something such as a book”

“to confer an official position or honour on somebody that brings a particular title with it”

Well, on the heels of last week where Sting made no sense and angrily left Dixie’s office to whine and do what she said in the first place, I am thinking Sting’s new journey is of course to assign a title to something such as a book.

TNA Sting Book WWE Logic Wrestling

He did however make a point to have “Respect for the ones who came before you” to which he then Hugged Kurt Angle telling him he loved him, and then Hugged Samoa Joe telling him the same. He then tapped Magnus and walked away. Which to be honest, Magnus hasn’t really done anything wrong at this point, so it makes Sting look more of a sore loser, also no one really cares all that much, but I like the tension building between the two, so I approve.

Either way, no one likes Seeing Sting walking around with Shades and a Suit, what kind of look is that? Of course it could be worse as some horrible fan in the crowd pointed out, mocking the legacy of Sting.

Sting TNA Sign Bat

It’s either he was mocking him… or his Art really sucks…

Joe however had the best exit speech saying “we’re great friends, but I want to remind you why we make better enemies”.

Magnus blabbed about Winning the Title Tournament and going through Angle if he needs to, blah blah blah. Then Kurt whined some more about how his own moves defeated him against his Matches with Roode, and that he needs to Win the World Championship (for some reason again) to think himself worthy of the Hall of Fame. Of course, this all makes no sense, I don’t even know why half of these guys are willing to participate in the Title Tournament, surely Joe, Storm, Hardy, Angle etc would be on AJ’s side and refuse, and recognise him as the true World Champ?

Still, Angle’s rant caused Bobby Roode to come out and feel Embarrassed for Kurt who is “making excuses” this turned into a big Fight, that was on and off again for the rest of the show. At one point Angle remained in the ring on a chair and said he will wait all night, or even till next week if he has too, which is funny, because in TV World, next week is an hour and a bit away for Angle.

In the end MEM and EGO team mates tore Roode and Angle apart, then Kaz and Daniels attacked these Black Dudes in the crowd, the very same from the opening of the show, I’m not trying to be racist, I don’t know who he is. Turned out he’s PacMan…. which seems incorrect to me on many different levels…

Pacman Jones TNA

Also why is he taking a Dump?

Velvet Sky vs. Brooke vs. ODB – Knockouts Championship – #1 Number-One Contender

I think it is safe to say, no one cares anymore. The Knockouts Division looks awful currently, yes Lei’D Tapa is a fantastic addition, but she’s done nothing currently, and also “currently” her position looks as if she will be firmly kissing Gail’s backside for the foreseeable future… possibly.

Which means I am sick of Velvet, Brooke and ODB being in EVERY Match. But hey, they have no one else left, so they might need to work on that.

The main point of this match is for Gail and Tapa to keep getting involved, and then they just beat everyone up. The highlight however was a very intense face off between Lei’D Tapa and ODB who did not hold anything back as they wailed on each other. And no, I don’t mean in a literal alternative meaning / spelling sense.

ODB vs Lei'd Tapa

Gail then said she has beaten everyone in the Division, and there is literally no one left to Challenge her. Which is true. So she has issued an “Open Challenge” to any Female Wrestler in the World to fight her, and if Gail is beaten, she will even put up a Title Shot.

I LOVE Open Challenges, anything that has excitement about possible new comers. Of course this could also mean Tapa herself might attack Gail, which would also be great. But getting a new addition I think would be better, and then Tapa turned. Who knows.

Okay, so remember that Mockery of AJ Styles I mentioned, well because, as you know “he has left the company, and never to be seen again” crap, so on Impact, there was a Segment, which I kid you not, titled “The Friends of AJ Styles” who bring you amateur video footage of his recent Title Defence in AAA Mexico. An easy way to find out who is making these videos is find out where the team responsible for TNA’s utterly Poor Hall of Fame Ceremony footage are, and BINGO! Surely they could have found a better way to promote AJ Styles and keep him on people’s minds, without the need to bring you Video Segments, that is stupid. If you were watching a Match and then the video feed went, and you saw some footage or something, that would be neat, it would appear as if some people within TNA are on AJ’s side and pushing for the change in TNA. It could lead to great Segments trying to find the “Rat” in Dixie’s team who is responsible. Or they could just have Joe, or Storm talking backstage and mentioning AJ’s travels. Rather than a really naff looking title screen from the “Friends of AJ Styles” who send in video clips, which get played as part of the show.. because that’s normal.

The Aces and Eights have been blowing up backstage through-out the show, It started with Anderson confronting both Knux and Bischoff, telling them that the best thing they did was getting him out of the Cut, and for them both just to get out of the club. Garrett and Knux called Taz into the Ring, which would make this Taz’s what, Fourth Appearance with them in 10Months. Bully made his way to the ring also. This is where Anderson came down to Watch from the side lines, as Garrett complained about everything Bully has done and took off his Cut. Knux also said he was Finished with the Club, but a tie vote would rule in favour of the President, of course Taz off of the heels of last week saying the club sucked, said Anderson was right, and took of his Cut. Bully got in Taz’s face telling him to put it back on, and Taz went all high pitched and squealy as he said “Make Me!”

Bully turned all of this on Anderson’s meddling, and Anderson announced their Turning Point match will be a No DQ. Bully then said “for someone who worships Stone Cold Steve Austin so much, you forgot the first rule”. Which is when Knux and Bischoff attacked Anderson and threw him in the ring where Bully beat him down with his Chain.

Yup, I hope they keep this level of Aces and Eights shenanigans up, because that was awesome. I was totally sucked in to them shutting down the Club, I fully expected that was the way it was going, then all of a sudden, they were more united than ever. I honestly didn’t see it coming, so kudos, it was awesome. I want The Aces and Eights to grow, more members, more power, more chaos, I really want that. Like REALLY WANT THAT!!!!

Ethan Carter the Third vs. Dewey Barnes

I made a note to write down his name correctly this time, yup same old crap.

Though Dewey’s music is awesome, I shall look for it and embed it if I can find it.

EC3’s music is also good.

His finisher is the “One Percenter” and that is also good… but that is all.

Also two searches said I couldn’t find it… and that’s two searches too many!

Bad Influence vs. Eric Young and Joseph Park

Backstage Kaz and Daniels got at Park, throwing his Trick-Or-Treat “Candy” at him, saying how strange it is he is here this week, and Abyss is not. EY stepped up to save the day and challenge them to a match. Which led to a lovely awkward moment of EY and Park celebrating, whilst it was blatantly obvious Kaz and Daniels were stood at the other side of the room off camera watching.

I guess this is just building the feud between the two, and I hope it leads to Abyss / Park realisation, because I am bored of that story now, it just needs to “happen” or go in a different direction.

In the end Daniels grabbed the Time Keepers Hammer, ref went after it, Daniels through the Hammer, got his Apple-Tini, lobbed that in the face of Park, Kaz crucifix pin, and the Victory goes to Bad Influence.

Roode came to ringside a little earlier on in the night and shouted for Kurt, then left. So this time, Angle came out and shouted for Roode, saying he isn’t a hard man to find, which is ironic as Roode couldn’t find him earlier and Angle didn’t even come out to his challenge.

It was however Austin Aries that got in the face of Kurt Angle, as Aries and Angle will battle next week in the next match of the Title Tournament, and Dixie’s “Wheel of Dixie” determined it will be a Submission Match, so that should be awesome. Roode then came out and attacked Kurt, then all three of them were fighting each other. Yay?

Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Sabin – World Title Tournament – Full Metal Mayhem

Aside from the fact that every time they talk about a Full Metal Mayhem match which Jeff Hardy is taking part in, they feel the unnecessary need to label it “Tables, Ladders, Chairs…. and stairs”. When they did that before, I let it slide, but numerous times through-out the night promoting this match, they felt the need to include Tables, Ladders and Chairs, I get it. It’s his most famous matches, but that doesn’t mean you need to say those exact words, Full Metal Mayhem is a concept from TNA that explains the match type rather well. The fact they can’t say “Tables, Ladders and Chairs” which I’m sure is because it has some “copyright” issues, so they say, Tables, Ladders, Chairs and Stairs. Really? What matches do you remember where Stairs come into play as a deciding factor.

Also TNA plugged Jeff’s new CD, which without researching I assume is another TNA Released Album of remixed songs where Jeff badly sings on top of. I shall look into this further, but I am hopeful this CD, the aptly named “Plurality of Worlds” will sit among his other classics, such as:

“Disbandment of Soil” – “Eccentric Roll down the Hill” – “Waddle on the Wind” and my personal favourite:

Jeff Hardy Album

So with that rant over and done with, this match was Fantastic!

Everything you would want it to be, it delivered on. It actually took me by surprise, mainly because the majority of Match Types haven’t lived up to the hype of recent, Ultimate-X is the best example from BFG.  Adding that to the face that this is just Impact, rather than a PPV, they don’t tend to raise their game to big levels for a standard TV Match. But they hit big move after big move.

It was so destructive Jeff merely tried to open the leg of one table and pulled it clean off!

But in all seriousness he went flying off the Top Rope through a Table, even though the timing wasn’t perfect as Sabin started to move, then Jeff jumped, so whatever. Sabin also leapt off the top rope and Jeff put his knees up, still going through a Table.

I couldn’t tell if Sabin annoyed Jeff, he hit him rather hard, then Dropkicked the chair into his face rather violently, which looked to give Jeff some issues, I for one thought he might have lost a tooth, but I’m not sure. So in retaliation Jeff swung the chair over Sabin’s head in a fit of rage. It was brutal.

The finish came with Jeff literally throwing himself over a Ladder and free falling face first to the floor, to then last minute Roll it through into a Modified Swanton Bomb, and picked up the win.

I haven’t seen a match that delivered on this Brutality for some time, maybe not since Jeff and Aries tore it down with their Ladder Match. Regardless, I shall be happy to include this in my list of potential “Match of the Year” Candidates.

If you missed this match… go watch it…. NOW!

And if this is the standard the opening the Match of the Title Tournament sets going forward, then the rest of these awesome bouts should be fantastic to witness!

I can’t wait for Angle vs. Aries next week (hope Aries wins) and Impact pulled out some surprises with The Aces and Eights, and kept everything hitting hard and fast.

If they can keep this going, then TNA are chugging along with some major momentum in my opinion.

Till Then!

The Jobber Blogger #73 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – BOUND FOR GLORY – 20/10/13

Jobber Blogger logo2

I’ve finally come to the realisation that I just wouldn’t be able to keep a Full-Time job. Actually, like most, and the majority and especially every issue of The Jobber Blogger I start off with a Sentence and then utterly correct that sentence the sentence after. I have not just come to any realisation, nor do I think a Full-Time job is actually above my level of “doing things”. I like to keep myself productive, it’s like they say “Productivity is the heart of my arse”… pretty sure I just made that up and it makes little sense, but if that isn’t a T-Shirt Slogan, I don’t know what is. But I feel obliged to Stand By my slogans, tag-lines and grammatically incorrect phrasing. Does that make sense to you, you say? Well, I know how you mean. Take that, it’s on the Internet! You know who I’m talking about! And like Wikipedia proudly exemplifies “Everything you read on the Internet is true!”.

So TNA threw out their Annual “Bound for Glory” Pay Per View Event, and not in an “overall” opinion manor, but there were highlights, of course, and then certain things didn’t live up to the Hype. Now me saying not living up to the Hype is me saying it was bad in parts, because it really wasn’t, it’s just on average, my expectations were higher than what was delivered. This paragraph, especially the last Sentence is a trademark of my “Spiffing” Good Grammar…. another T-shirt idea.

BFG LOGO

TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – BOUND FOR GLORY – 20/10/13

First things first, this year’s Bound for Glory Banner (without going back and checking every other BFG Banner) remarkably resembles Ye’ Olde NWA / TNA font, a subtle hint / subliminary reference me thinks?

TNA BFG logo

As always, the show kicked off with a rather nifty opening Video Package detailing the journey of one AJ Styles leading to his Main Event Match with Bully Ray. For my money, TNA really has great Story telling, to think this all happened well over a year ago, with Claire Lynch, through to Christopher Daniels beating him, losing last year at BFG to not Wrestle for the title for an entire year. Leaving, the mysterious new look, new attitude, it’s a Rebirth of TNA and they put their “Poster Boy”, the Face of TNA front and centre and they broke him down, sent him down, brought him back better than ever. The old saying goes “Don’t put all your eggs in the one basket” but AJ Styles is what made TNA, and if anyone can shift them into a New Era, a new Direction, it’s AJ Styles they need on the front lines. And Bound for Glory is all about AJ Styles.

This for the record is a great thing. AJ has been on fire of late, since his Return he has been something new and extremely interesting / entertaining to watch, partner that with this ominous “New Direction” and TNA has become a very interesting place.

Jeff Hardy vs. Austin Aries vs. Chris Sabin vs. Samoa Joe vs. Manik – X-Division Championship – Ultimate-X Match

The whole “not living up to my expectations” is pretty much entirely centred around this match. I will first lay out why I was excited for it, 1- it’s the X-Division, “THE” Division that built TNA, and with a new direction, surely this match goes a long way to revamp the Division. 2- Chris Sabin has been an X-Division Wrestler since day one in TNA, Samoa Joe has been one of the corner stone’s of the X-Division, let alone TNA. 3- Austin Aries is in this match. 4- It’s Bound for Glory.

Now on the flip side, I can name one thing that I honestly feel let this match down, and not in a totally negative way that I wish it wasn’t there, just wish they did it differently. And that one thing is: Jeff Hardy.

Yes, Hardy launched his Career with Wrestling a totally different style, yes you can argue he helped to develop this “X-Division” Style of Wrestling long before TNA even existed. But the X-Division matches generally are fast paced, full throttle and of course that has it’s fair shares of errors and mistakes, but they naturally are expected, and part of the adrenaline, not to mention part of their talent in how quickly the performers correct them. There was however one point toward the start of the Match where Jeff just looked like a headless chicken, really at a loss of what to do, and tried to get involved but that made him stand out all the more. He was the proverbial “Sore Thumb”. To make matters worse, as I feared from Impact, but he introduced Ladders to Ultimate-X.

Sure, I get the appeal, I’m a lifelong Hardy fan, I love Ladder Matches, but bringing a Ladder to Ultimate-X is like wearing Wrestling Platform Boots.

Ultimate Boots Image

The whole idea and concept of this match is to struggle and climb your way to the Ropes above the ring, and shimmy across to the centre where you try and get the Belt down. The Belt isn’t That high off the Canvas in the first place. Bringing a Ladder into the match ruins the entire concept. You can reach the belt with a Foot Stool, the whole point of the Match is the concept of the match. If you could just go “you know what, screw dangling upside down trying to get the belt down, I’ll just wear stilts to the ring” then these matches would have sucked years ago.

I like the idea of putting Jeff Hardy in the X-Division, and yes an X-Division Ladder Match would be great. But this is Ultimate-X, part of the excitement is to see Jeff Hardy bring his Style to a new Match-Type. He claimed “I Want to do something I’ve never done before” which either implies he wants to be a part of an Ultimate X match… which he failed at. Or what he really meant was “I want to Ruin everything”… which he succeeded at.

On the positive side, Jeff had new music again as he always does at Bound for Glory, which is exciting, I always like new Music, specially from Jeff. Further more Joe and Aries got a great reaction from the Crowd… Jeff…. not so much.

There was some great high points in the match, Manik once again stood out the most for being so fluid in the ring, and he actually corrected a lot of the minor “errors” through-out the match that actually really played in his favour as a performer.

The ending was a bit naff, Jeff dropped Sabin with the Twist of Fate, Sabin instantly rolled out the ring then had a shouting match with Velvet Sky about her getting in the ring to Stop Jeff from winning. Should it bug me when someone connects with their finisher which normally would lay them out for a while, or result in a victory, but on the other occasion, it just takes them out of the way but they’re really not that hurt from it. Sabin could clearly get right back up and in the ring. Anyway, Velvet was pushed in the ring by Sabin, Jeff was distracted and moved her out of the way, and Sabin ran up the Ladder behind him and got the Belt.

Bad Influence made their way to the ring to have a good rant about how they should be on the Card at Bound for Glory. And in the truest words ever spoken from one Frankie Kazarian “Not since the Premier of Broke Back Mountain have two men been screwed more than Bad Influence”.

Of course this whole Segment served a Purpose, but anyone who is a fan of TNA will actually agree with their words when they spoke about this being about TNA, and they “Are” TNA. Still, they then went on to complain about not Winning the Bound for Glory – Pre-Show Tag-Team Number #1 Contender Match, but they should be put in the Tag Championship Match anyway.

Eric Young then confronted the duo claiming they Created a Monster. Now I didn’t see the Pre-Match, I’ve since tried to find it, but I will continue looking, because it does sound interesting. Either way, Bad Influence then beat down EY and Abyss Returned, with his old and awesome Music. Abyss took out both Daniels and Kaz then picked up EY showing an alliance. I really hope Abyss sticks around this time, he has had what, 3 appearances since Slammiversary? He won the TV Title, then was never seen again. I just hope they finally Wrap Up the Joseph Park / Abyss Storyline or at least get it going again in an Interesting way.

The Bromans (w/Mr. Olympia) vs. James Storm and Gunner – World Tag-Team Championships

Now, despite what I wrote in the title of this match, at first I thought Robbie and Jesse were just being occupied to the ring by a Walking Cloud. I would say “discoloured” or “pollution” but no doubt that would be flagged as Racist. But really… when did this ever become a Good Look?

mr olympia image

Gunner was wearing a new Ring-Jacket, which actually is pretty cool, though it’s just something to Wear to the Ring, it goes a long way to creating a “Look, Style, Gimmick” that really suits him. I still think some crazy Face-Paint wouldn’t go a miss either. The Tag-Team name of “The Sinner and The Saint” was thrown around. But let’s face it, Americas Most Wanted, great team, Beer Money best team (in terms of home grown TNA), but yet another James Storm team, again. Enough is enough.

Unless Storm just wants to be a Tag-Team guy all the time, with multiple different teams, he’s like the Band you loved but keep coming back with new members till you just don’t care anymore.

If anything AMW put Storm on the Map, Beer Money put Roode in the Main Events and this new ensemble is just making Gunner look good and Storm look increasingly irrelevant.

Gunner Jacket Image

Here is a good bit of Blog Journalism that not everyone might have got, the Image on the back of Gunner’s Trunks is the Eddie Logo from Iron Maiden’s 2006 Album – “A Matter of Life and Death”. Clearly Gunner is obviously more of a “Rock” guy anyway, but “AMOLAD” is an Album Written about War, and Gunner being a Former Army Man himself, obviously the connection fits perfectly. Part of me thought I could hear an “Iron Maiden” chant breaking out.. but then I probably just made it up myself like when you see faces in your carpet… watching you… whilst you sleep. If you sleep face down on your carpet anyway. A good tip is, get a bed.

Gunner Maiden

Speaking of Gunner being impressive, he performed a great Fall Away Slam from the Top Rope. James Storm fell of the Ring-Apron and had a Nasty Cut on his Leg (not that this was his contribution to the match).

My favourite thing about this match, even though The Bromans are easily the “Clowns” of TNA, both Jesse and especially Robbie E are great in the ring. And they showed it in spades, and the crowd ate it up, which was an awesome reaction to get for them both.

The ending was fine, albeit somewhat confusing. Robbie E threw one of the Tag-Team Belts into the Ring, this distracted the Ref, then The Bromans performed a Double Move and Won the Match. But the whole Throwing of the Belt was really unnecessary. Mike Tenay was yelling on commentary about “illegal double team!” but both teams were performing Double Moves with the whole “Breakdown” of the Tag-Match lark going on, so really they did Nothing illegal.

I am glad that they picked up the Win, since Gunner and Storm won the Belts the Division has been bland, and we’ve barely seen them since. So hopefully New Champions might shed some new light on the Division going forward.

The Hall of Fame – Induction

Let’s not beat the drum anymore on just how pointless the TNA HOF really is. For a company that’s 11 years old and all of its home grown talent hitting the Prime of their Career, it’s going to be many, many, many years before any of them should be in a Hall of Fame. Which means the guys TNA puts into the Hall of Fame are those who are older “legends” from other companies… which defeats the point. It reeks of “We’ve inducted Sting before you WWE, and we’ve inducted Kurt Angle before you too!.. So Nerr!”

Regardless, just like last year’s HOF Induction Ceremony, it looks… awful. TNA have some of the best Cameras on the Market, they released a whole Video about how good their Cameras were because of the great Resolution and Frame Rate they capture at. You watch any of their “Super Star” video reels, they look awesome. Their video packages are such a high standard. So why the high holy hell, for the last 2 years running does their “Hall Of Fame” ceremony look like it’s been filmed from a proud Father sat in the Audience using their Trusty Old Cam-Corder. It’s terrible. They get people’s heads in the shot, it’s resolution is crap, there is only the one camera the entire night so it pans back and forth badly. The sound is naff quality. And the room looks like a School Play with some badly lit curtains a projector screen and a basic Microphone.

Nothing says “Hall of Fame” like an Amateur production.

Furthermore, everyone knows this is Wrestling, it’s a Storyline based show, so the President of TNA: Dixie Carter was not at the Ceremony because it suits her “Current Heel Turn”. Who cares? It makes more sense she is there. For Christ’s sake, Jeff Jarrett who hasn’t been seen on TNA since Kurt Angle himself beat him at Lockdown a few years back in one of TNA’s most personal feuds for Jarrett to leave the company was sat next to Kurt Angle. Not only that, but Kurt’s ex-Wife who is Jarrett’s current Wife was on the table too, and they are all clapping and having a great time. Surely that’s more confusing to the average “fan” than having the Boss in the Audience?

Anyway, so to Induct Kurt into the Hall of Fame, Sting was sent out, seemingly without a Script for it was the most half arsed speech I’ve ever heard. I sort of like the idea of the previous Inductee to Induct the new inductee. But Sting had a great lot to say about Kurt’s in ring skills and relevance to the industry, then he went on to say “he’s also a family man… he’s got kids, in the audience.. a nice wife… errr” it’s like, what is that? So Kurt came out to do an even more half arsed “thanks” for saying “you have no idea how much this means to me”…. “I can’t put do it justice with words”. Well that sounds like the most polite “this is sh*t” to me. Sting then gives Angle a Watch, and also Angle knows how to open a box, unlike Hogan who tore the back off the thing, then the front.. then just opened it.

Angle then “respectively” declined the offer to the Hall of Fame, which I couldn’t tell if it was a Work or not, but did genuinely seem upset, it could be legit. Because everything was going well till he got arrested yet again for DUI then went to Rehab and came back just in time for his Induction. That doesn’t sound like a very good legacy to leave behind. So I get it. I just don’t get it also.

Gail Kim vs. Brooke vs. ODB – Knockouts Championship

There is a huge “Why?” about this Match. As I mentioned last week, since when did Gail Kim earn the chance to be in this match? As she was defeated by ODB for ODB to Wrestle for the Knockouts Championship in the first place. Since then Gail hasn’t been near the title picture, nor was she involved in the Brooke / Velvet number one contenders matches. She did feel somewhat out of place, for at least ODB and Brooke are both relevant for this Match and for Television / Storylines currently. Not to reiterate, but Gail didn’t do anything to earn her way into this match.

Brooke was impressive, though her lack of a second name still seems strange to me. ODB did a really good job of carrying the match forward for both Brooke and even Gail. To be fair though, the most notes I wrote about this match was just quotes from Taz on Commentary. Getting Fan Access (WWE) mixed up with Fan Interaction (TNA) and the rather hilarious by play between him and Tenay. Plus Taz’s continued rant about Referee “Stiffler” was just classic.

Either way, the Ref was taken down, and then Lei’D Tapa made an appearance, like I’m sure most people expected. ODB had a drink from her flask but was beaten down on the Entrance Ramp, Tapa then made her way to the Ring where Brooke jumped from the Top-Rope on her, only to be caught and Power-Bombed back into the Ring. This is where Gail pinned Brooke and Won the match.

Lei’D Tapa then got the Knockouts Championship, and what I was hoping, was she would hand the belt to Gail in a, “I’m next in line” type of Manor. But instead she handed it to Gail and Gail jumped on her and hugged her. So this is my problem with that. One, I still don’t think Gail deserved to be in this match. Of course she is deserving of it, but if you’re going to put in the match, actually make that known rather than just having your commentators announce the week before “also Gail is in it”. More than that though, Lei’D Tapa was interesting because she was different, she’s this big, powerful Knockout, that I really want to see more of. She’s like a Good Awesome Kong. The problem now is that she’s just Gail’s lackey. She is no longer threatening, she’s just a “bodyguard”. She instantly looks weak because Gail is jumping all over her and celebrating. She isn’t intimidating, or dangerous, or anything like that. She now just comes across Wimpy and Pathetic, like a Female Bane.

Lei'D Bane Image

Bobby Roode vs. Kurt Angle

Simply Put – Match of the Night.

With Angle turning down the Hall of Fame it pretty much just made everything about why these guys are fighting,… true… or wrong, depending on how you look at it. Angle was annoyed because of the “mockery!” and how Roode claimed he was undeserving. Angle retaliates with Violence. Then he gladly sits at a Ceremony, eats catered food, listens to loads of guys spill their guts on what he means to them and the industry. Then walks out and says “meh”, what a jerk. And he has the audacity to get annoyed with Roode for being completely and entirely Right about Angle from the get go.

Reasons and Logic be damned, I like the fact that this match wasn’t a big “built up” Story feud. It felt like a good old fashioned Wrestling Match, perfectly Placed on the grandest Stage TNA offer.

The match was fantastic, and I love it when I get so into a Match that I just really want someone to Win, even though I know it doesn’t work like that, but still. I cringed when Angle applied the Ankle Lock on the other Ankle to which he normally does, it bent horribly… the wrong way. The counters back and forth were fantastic, not to mention Angle countering the Cross-face, rolling through and turning it into an Angle-Slam.

One of the best moves was from Roode when he dropped Angle with a Death Valley Driver turned into a Neck-Breaker ish Cutter move. Roode uses a number of “Signature Moves” like the Spear, Cross-face, Spine-Buster and Northern Lights Suplex, but he’s never had that one “FINISHER”. So I really hope he develops this, as that.

I even got high hopes when Angle applied the leg-vine to his Ankle Lock and it looked as if Roode was going to “Pass-Out”, Brian Hebner (ref) picked up Roode’s arm for what I imagine would be the “drop 3 times it’s over rule” but Roode looked up on the first time he lifted his arm, and it looked as if Brian put Roode’s hand on the Rope. This was met with a huge “Boo” from the Crowd. But at that moment I thought, what if Brian Hebner is going to Screw Kurt Angle because Angle turned down the HOF Induction. I thought that would be awesome. Evidently not, it all became rather confusing though, but then just was forgotten.

The finish was just as impressive with a Top Rope Angle Slam which led to a 9-Count, Roode made to his feet, Angle didn’t move, Roode then fell on Angle and got the 3 Count. Angle still didn’t move.

I can’t tell you how glad I am that Roode won. To be fair I want Roode to win everything, he’s fantastic, but with everything else surrounding this match, I wanted him to beat Angle all the more. I would be happy for Angle to be Heel to be honest, it almost felt “right”.

The stupid thing was the EMT’s run down and bring out a Stretcher, and yet again, for the second time in Recent Memory, I Hope and Pray, that these people are just Actors or wanna be Wrestlers, not actual trained Health and Safety EMT’s.  Because they badly placed Angle on the Board, and didn’t fasten it, and then tried to Push it to the Ring Apron where it looked amazingly Awkward, and Angle nearly fell off the board multiple times. Comedy aside, this looks worse than the amateur HOF Ceremony.

Anywho, Angle then did the “I’m too proud” and got up and walked off. I only wish he actually sold the fact he was injured in the first place, because he seemed just fine.

Ethan Carter the Third vs. Norv Ferman

I think that was this guy’s name, local Wrestling talent, picked for his “look”.

A good debut by EC3, the idea he is Dixie’s nephew is a little odd, see how that develops. But I really like his gimmick, his music and his charisma thus far.

A basic Squash match, but no bad thing either. I wrote down “Good Finish”… I don’t remember his move.. .but apparently it was good….. Carter won.

Magnus vs. Sting

For those of you who read my Blogs, I mentioned I hope this match actually is a “Classic” that will put Magnus on the Map, like the Flair vs. Sting match of old. Well, it wasn’t.

It was a weird mash up of confusion. And I love Sting, but let’s be honest, he’s never been “that” good in the ring. And these days he just seems to do the same thing… multiple times…. a lot. It’s just back hands, Splashes, and Suplex’s, with his finishers and the occasional Drop kick. Sting is very good at getting you on his side though, a la vs. Bully Ray in Sting’s last ever World Championship Match. I still think Sting needs to fight Aries, and it needs to be “big” because Aries will get Sting to perform at the best of his ability, because Aries wouldn’t let him do any less. Their brief bout before was awesome, so it is something I highly anticipate.

Anywho, Magnus had new attire, I like new music and new attire for Big PPV’s it’s good. His new attire is good too. But this weird mash up comes off of them being “friends / allies” yet Magnus who isn’t really moving that quickly to being a “heel” is taking “opportunities” like underhanded things and un-sportsman like things. Sure the whole, do what it takes to win thing makes sense, but it just seemed a bit strange so suddenly. What was more Sudden was Magnus flat-out mocking Sting, that seemed bizarre.

And then that bizarre got more bizarre with Sting doing Ric Flair’s infamous “fall on the face” which made no sense.

Is Sting trying to be Flair, and Magnus trying to be Sting? Is that their only claim to fame, Magnus’ best chance of being great is to try his best at replicating something that happened 20 years ago. And was Sting trying to emulate Flair? What was going on?…

It was fine, but average, which was what I feared, it certainly isn’t going to be something you look back at and think, yep, that put him on the Map. Because it didn’t. Magnus vs. Aries… that might.

Magnus made Sting tap with his Kingsland Cloverleaf, again, the Tap came suddenly.

Magnus then went super pompous and celebrated at every Corner, leaving Sting to follow him around trying to Shake his hand, Magnus then shook his hand in a very belittling manor and left.

Bully Ray vs. AJ Styles – World Heavyweight Championship – No Count-out, No DQ

The No Count-Out, No DQ was a stipulation added after Impact. I don’t have a problem with it, but it could have been emphasised better than Dixie putting it on Twitter.

It also means “Something is going to happen”.

Earlier on in the night we Saw Bully Ray talking to what looked like open Shower Cubicles… which is… weird on many different levels. But he went on about The Aces and Eights fooling everyone once more “They thought you just Split, they thought you were Dead, and they thought you would never Trust me Again”. Which in turn sounds like he means DOC, Anderson and Devon in that order. It was interesting to say the least.

Bully had a Promo before the match where he quoted Axl Rose… this hot on the heels of him claiming to be Darth Vadar makes for a very mixed signal.

Darth Bully Rose Image

Since AJ came back at Slammiversary to fight Kurt Angle and he walked out to “Evil Ways”, I knew that he and Bully would clash at Bound for Glory. They had that look, that theme, and just from the music and the setting / atmosphere both created around it, it was a Collision Course.

So I was so happy to have AJ walk out purely to Evil Ways and not his Phenomenal Theme, it was the perfect setting for the Match. To make it even better Bully walked out to the Lyrical version of The Aces and Eights theme.

Little subtle details like this, but it’s those little details that really set the Stage for the Match.

Obviously Bound for Glory over the years has been the PPV where something big went down to determine the Storylines going forward. The formation of Immortal, The Aces and Eights invading just to name the most current, and obviously this year is will AJ Styles take the title / power and change TNA for the better. But a No DQ basically means all bets are off, Aces and Eights could turn, Dixie Carter could align with The Aces and Eights, Hogan could come back, anything big. But nothing like that happened, which isn’t a bad thing by any means.

But it also means that Bully and AJ are capable of having a fantastic 5Star match, they’ve already had one before in their Last Man Standing match last year. But the run-ins made for a stop start type of pacing. But the idea was AJ Styles was battling to Win, because he had to Win at any cost.

Bisch ran in first, gave Bully a Hammer, this led to nothing in the end. AJ standing up to Bully and taking his powerful Chops to the Chest was a great scene, as each Chop left fresh hand prints on his chest, yet he wouldn’t back down. Knux then came down, Chokeslammed AJ, Bully pinned him, only got a Two Count.

AJ did a Spring-Board 450 Splash from the Ring through the Announce Table… pretty much landing Face First on the floor, which looked horrible, but then a great Big Spot for the Match. Taz gave Bully a knife, again, he cut the Canvas to expose the Wooden boards of the Ring beneath. Bully then called out “The Boys” who I guess is whomever he was talking to in the Shower earlier on, but no one came down to Help him.

Dixie then made her way to the ring and handed Bully a Chair, AJ spring boarded back in the Ring hitting the Chair at Bully. He then hit another Springboard 450, but Dixie threatened Heber if he counted the Three, causing Bully to finally kick out with Hebner’s slow reluctant count.

In the end of course, AJ hit Bully in the head with the Chair, landed Spiral Tap from the Corner and Won the Match.

He celebrated and then left through the Crowd with Dixie looking on as AJ secured the TNA World Championship.

Clearly the odds where in AJ’s favour to Win the belt, but you never know. I can’t say how happy I am to just have AJ back as World Champion, it’s been far too long. Though I do love the journey he has gone on, and I seriously hope and can’t wait to see where this direction goes next. I think everyone is hoping for a “Revamp” to TNA, with AJ to lead the change.

Regardless, a great Main Event, and a great Bound for Glory.

Let’s hope this coming Year in TNA is fantastic and takes them to the Level they deserve to be at. Say what you want about them, but their Locker Room, their Story Lines and their product of Wrestling, is what I always loved about Professional Wrestling, and it just baffles me more people don’t like it, or don’t get it, or don’t watch it, or don’t know about it.

Till then.

The Jobber Blogger #71 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 10/10/13

Jobber Blogger logo2

Let’s all rejoice, my loyal “Blobbers” for the imminent and somewhat untimely release of my Blog is once upon among us. Yep, that opening sentence will indeed make as much sense, if not more sense than the estimated 3000 words which shall follow.

You know something that plays on my mind, I have been doing this Blog for a little over a year, and by little over a year, it’s probably a Month and a Bit, probably because I already forgot which date marked my year. But that is irrelevant details, clearly I want more people to read my ramblings, the very thought of having Discussion let alone criticism and death threats, is something every Writer wants. I feel my “Blog” gives off a different style of opinion / break down of the Events over in TNA: Wrestling land, but of course I want some Feedback.

What do you guys like, or dislike about my Blog? What would you want more of, any ideas to help it grow? Certainly an audience is keen motivation to continue it, but after 70 issues out there in the world, with one comment on IGN and a few other loyal readers along the way, the reception to these are minimal.

Tell me where to stick it! But do so in nice thoughtful ways, with humorous ideas and mannerisms, like the old fabled “Shut Up You Git, Else I’ll Poo In Your Hat!”

 TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 10/10/13

The newly hated Dixie Carter kicked off Impact this week by addressing the Closing segments of last week’s show, and the somewhat “flat” Quitting of Hulk Hogan. He who shall remain nameless from hence forth, she declared whilst riding on a trusty steed. Nope, not quite, she did however insist Hogan renames nameless from this point forward and had a big rant about how “Egotistical, self-serving” he was. The funny part about all of this, is that Hogan has a great Fan-Base, no doubt about it. But he also has a lot of people who don’t like him, either they get caught up in Hulkamania in person, or they just get shouted down. Regardless, Dixie spoke the “internet tongue” about Hogan, yet was met with a negative reaction. Which is only funny because Dixie has turned Heel on the back of the current complaints about the Company, all of which is yet again blurring the lines between TNA’s Storyline and “reality”.

Dixie continued her heated rant moving on to AJ Styles about putting Bully Ray in a match with Samoa Joe last week, so she is going to give Bully a Break, and do the return this week. Which really, seems rather fair, let’s be honest.

There is a strange divide building, The Aces and Eights were created to Battle TNA Management and bring the “power / belts” into their Faction. Half of this was sort of achieved, but now it seems Bully is siding with Management. And on the public front, everyone’s favourite TNA Star – AJ Styles has done nothing but spoke positively of having Hulk Hogan with TNA. So could a possible AJ endorsed Hogan alignment be coming up after BFG to bring about New, Old Changes to TNA, but at the hands of Hogan to try and swing the “haters” in the other direction? Who knows!

Sting stepped up, as he usually does to play the “Good guy – in the middle” to solve everyone’s problems, but this act got Dixie on his case also, saying “Everyone’s contract (in relation to the recent Lay-Offs?) are under Review” and how dare Sting book his own match for Bound For Glory, so Sting was given a Tag-Match partnering with Magnus, and if either of them lost, they won’t make the BFG Card.

Something very noteworthy of this entire segment was just how much the Crowd hate Dixie already, and it is impressive, sure they have used the “Changes” as motivation and she as a Figure Head, but Dixie always got a lot of love and praise from the Crowd, maybe it’s because she’s a Woman and playing the “Dumb, Rich” card to create more Heat. Obviously on the flip side, Sting always gets a good reaction, but he got a Great Reaction just from playing off of how much the audience loathed Dixie. An interesting thing to come which could create great tension, especially with the rise / push of AJ Styles to represent the “old”, this really does make you think TNA have been planning this “Change” for quite some time, and wherever they are looking to take the Company, I think a lot of people are going to be pleased.

Austin Aries vs. Jeff Hardy

I guess when most people Write Blogs, they either just break down the show, throw in some narrow minded “they should have done this” crap and then “Score” it. Well, sure, I like to include my opinion, but I know full well my opinion is Worthless, I am not going to let it feed any negativity toward TNA should my opinion be of that nature. And I am not going to be so moronic as to “Score” a Show or Matches. I will give you my opinions, but that will be as far as it goes. I like to mention each Match / Segment so that readers can read which part they wanted to, and to give little break downs of the match / show / opinions and news.

I find it incredibly tedious to actually break down and write about a match, I will simply tell you to watch it or not, again, my opinion. Most of the time I just mention details or talk about irrelevant things. For instance Jeff Hardy was sporting his more Old School attire once again, this I approve of, he looks like the Jeff Hardy I grew up watching, not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things, but he looks awesome, it’s always been one of his appeals.

Aries on the other hand seemed to be wearing new ring gear, or at least not much worn ring gear, which with Bound for Glory right around the Corner, you would think he would save them till then. Aries also dropped an Elbow Drop just as Jeff was trying to move out of the way and he caught him properly on the head, it looked Painful!

“It looked Painful” is a crappy description from a Wrestling Writer.

Put it this way, in a straight forward “Wrestling Match” between both Aries and Jeff, this has to be my favourite. And sure enough, they are both going to Raise the Bar for Ultimate X coming up at BFG, so if this is just two of the “5” guys competing, then we are going to be in for a Treat.

Speaking of being in for a treat, a Brain Buster from the Top Rope to finish the Match, I simply wrote “What!!!????” How insanely cool / dangerous did that look!

Aries picked up the Win in what I class as another “Match of the Year Contender”.

Samoa Joe made an appearance straight after the match to put himself in Ultimate X also, now making it a 5-Way, all I can think of is “Poor Kenny King”. There is still time for King to join the Match too. It does seem like the X-Division is being focussed on, no doubt again in relation to the “Change” fast approaching TNA.

Jesse vs. ODB

It has been a while since a Woman has Wrestled a Man one on one, and off the heels of Jesse’s loss last week, he threw out the Challenge to the Knockouts Champion. Rather silly really because EY would have beaten him off of his Elbow Drop, and Park would have beaten him off of his Splash, put them both together, plus ODB’s Splash, he wouldn’t have won anyway.

But logic be damned,  it’s Wrestling, and that’s why we love it!

Logic Be Damned

The more important points to mention are Eric Young and Joseph Park’s “Road Trip to Bound for Glory”. Where the duo take a 10-day Road trip to the Biggest show of the Year. This could of course mean they might win in the Tag-Team Challenge before the Event starts for the chance to Wrestle for the Tag-Championships. Pure speculation.

TNA Wrestling

Also Lei’D Tapa made her second appearance (Post Gut-Check) and beat down ODB in yet another impressive display. But more on this later when that pesky Logic comes back into play.

The “Extraordinary Gentleman’s Organisation” or E.G.O Held their “Hall of Fame” Ceremony. However first of all, I managed to spell each word of EGO wrong on my first attempt, so yay for spell check, and furthermore, Kaz and Daniels’ Comic-Book nerd background certainly comes into play for the name in the first place.

That being said, this Hall of Fame ceremony was blatantly obvious where it was going to end up, and frankly it’s “Pay Off” wasn’t as entertaining as the Ceremony itself. Also I seem be using quotation marks an awful lot in this blog, isn’t that good, I feel like Fred Durst writing “Hot Dog” to see how many F’Words I can fit into one song and then counting that number as part of the Lyric. In a completely unrelated manor, as a Young little Limp Bizkit fan growing up, one I find it highly amusing that at one time the WWE Called them their “Favourite Band” publically, and then shortly after they performed a song called “Crack Addict”. Oh how I wonder if they would publically endorse them now, and yes, I finally bought myself a Copy of “Gold Cobra” their newest album, and it’s rather good!

E.G.O’s HOF Ceremony had numerous high points, like Kaz and Daniels’ dressing up as the fans with a hefty throw back and insult with their homage to “Dumb and Dumber”. Taz’s “I want a suit like that” deserves a good ol mention too.

The Jobber Blogger

But the highlight came with Bobby Roode playing just as Stupid as his EGO Partners, and for someone like Bobby Roode who as at once a dangerous top of his game competitor, can also be the more bumbling fool too. We have seen this side of him before, even though he was always the more serious side of Beer Money, his run with Aries was nothing but comical, and he weeping over Kaz’ home made “Video Montage” was great. Also the Video Montage had me in stitches.

And then the moment everyone was expecting, Kurt Angle returned after Roode’s speech about how he deserves the Hall of Fame spot more than Angle. And yes, Angle looked in great shape, so I for one hope he put as much effort into his Alcohol Addiction that he did into Working Out, but he came back on fire. So much so, that he German Suplexed Kaz right on the back of his head, maybe even on the Microphone placed on the floor that seemed to really shake him up. Angle is now set to compete at Bound for Glory taking on Bobby Roode in what could be yet another potential show stealing match-up.

Velvet Sky (w/Chris Sabin) vs. Brooke – #1 Contender Match – Knockouts Championship

This was the rematch from last week after Lei’D Tapa delivered a beat down on Velvet. And since that match Velvet is now “injured” and ripe for the pickings, to one Brooke Tessmacher. Also now she has officially dropped the “Tessmacher” name, it’s been a long time coming, though “Don’t Mess with Tess” was a good Slogan. It still baffles me why they don’t just call her Brooke Adams, because one, it’s her name, and two, it’s a good name. Just calling her “Brooke” sounds disappointing on delivery, or just strangely over emphasised on her Ring Entrance.

Sabin is now full-on rocking the 118 guy look and being more of a jerk by covering up Velvet. Personally I think most men wouldn’t want their “Better Halves” to display themselves as much either, but we all know this is just a joke. Though it is weird to see him with his Girl Friend that flirts with everyone and rubs her ass on the ropes, it’s like he’s hired a Hooker to accompany him to the Ring.

In the end it was Sabin trying to give Velvet advice that led to Velvet being caught by a Roll Up from “Brooke…..” and losing the Match.

Even stranger is that apparently the Winner of this match goes on to Face ODB AND! Gail Kim at Bound for Glory. We all know Gail is great and everything, but since when did she qualify for this match? If anything, she is the most undeserving as it was ( I believe) ODB that beat her to get to Mickie, to Win the Championship in the first place. Surely it should be Lei’D Tapa who should be in with a Shot after her recent attacks, or just ODB vs. Brooke….

Bad Influence vs. Magnus and Sting

It appears as if the Main Event Mafia is pretty much no-more, though I guess Angle is finally back, but then The Aces and Eights are pretty much done for as well, so who really cares. What everyone should Care about, is Bad Influence and how great they are.

Like expected the theme of this Match is that Sting is better than Magnus. As Magnus was the one who took the main Beat Down, and Sting had small runs of being on the attack. In the end it was Magnus who landed his Impressive Top Rope Elbow Drop, but then proceeded to be “cocky” and try to win with the “Kingsland Cloverleaf” which Daniels broke up.

This leading to Sting tagging himself in and cleaning up the mess and Winning the match, leaving Magnus to be shown up.

It’s simple, but clever matches, sure we’ve seen it time and time again, and there hasn’t really been much “innovation” brought into matches since the days of “Lie, Cheat And Steal” from the late Eddie Guerrero. Still, it served its purpose and Magnus’ Heel Turn seems even more prominent. He’s pretty much always been a Heel, and every time they’ve tried to Push him, it sort of seems flat, least this past Year seemed to have worked well, but to Turn him Heel once more, could work in both directions. Personally I think he works either way, so long as he isn’t the typical Heel or typical Face in both regards.

The Aces and Eights vs. AJ Styles – Handicap Match

Bully chose which Match AJ Competed in, and he obviously gave this chance to his Brothers, Knux and Bischoff. Earlier on in the night they complained at Bully for only being the Three of  them left. But Bully didn’t miss an opportunity to blame it all on Mr. Anderson. Saying that Anderson is the one who caused the break-down of The Aces and Eights. Interesting, as his Mention brings him back into Story, specially where Bully is concerned. So a possible Anderson return is very likely currently. Personally I still want Anderson to come back, de-throne Bully and re-build The Aces and Eights, I think there is a lot of Gas left in the Faction, with or without Bully. I fear they are just planning to End it altogether though.

Just before AJ took to the ring, Dixie Carter confronted him, offering him a Check that was “More Money than he has ever seen” to just pack his bag and leave the Company. They haven’t really explained why Dixie hates AJ so much, they just seem to Clash. Obviously AJ tore up the Check and through it back at Dixie.

Long Story short, AJ showed just how Phenomenal in the Ring he really is, he looks the best he’s been in a long time, if not ever. I personally really like AJ’s new look and I think it suits a change, and also acts as great motivation for him as a Character to grow, both in the ring technically and as a Character whilst not competing. He defeated the Odd’s doing what he does best, and not in a “Super Cena” kind of way, in an out-smarting, quick moving, impressive, never giving up attitude that actually gets people behind you.

It eventually boiled down to Knux and Bischoff making an error and AJ winning from a Quick Roll-Up victory. However the celebration was cut short as Bully made his way into the Ring and proceeded to give AJ a Beat Down with his Chain in an act of “Getting the job done himself” in front of Knux and Bischoff.

Of course we expect AJ to take a beating going into Bound for Glory, but it also cements Bully as a Bully and as the toughest guy on the Roster that you don’t want to willingly cross paths with.

Though it was a steady (get the job done and stories in place) show from top to bottom, it still is building great momentum heading toward Bound for Glory. And what we see next week, and especially Bound for Glory itself, I think TNA is going to be coming out of their biggest show in a fantastic position.

Till Then,

Dan

The Jobber Blogger #70 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 3/10/13

October 7, 2013 by DiVineDiablo

Jobber Blogger logo2

Back to Ye’ Ol’ Mondays! Aren’t they fun, and no, I haven’t been working this Weekend, just how things have fallen. I knew I had Monday evening free to Write it up, and of course IGN’s own Matt Fowler doesn’t get the Wrap-Up online till Tuesday, of course he does mainly Cover Raw, but I like to look at it as a One Up regardless!

I have been giving my loyal “fans” some thought this past week, also because Jobber Blogger Super Fan – Linda, didn’t leave feedback from last week, so that’s a rather Hefty Black Mark against her name now. I’m sure she won’t take that seriously.

Also “Blobs” just don’t seem to cut it as a Snappy Enough name to continue the Theme of what I was going for. I am, however, The Jobber Blogger, so I would like to now claim that my Loyal Fans are, Blobbers! Yes, it’s a much more sensible title that I didn’t just randomly think of on the spot.

Speaking of randomly thinking of things and also rambling about things on the Spot, behold the remainder of this Blog!

Impact Wrestling Logo

 TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 3/10/13

I’m sure everyone noticed this, but the “Previously on Impact Wrestling” Voice Over Guy, and of course TNA’s usual Voice Over Guy  was different this week. And I shall be the very first in saying “he sucked”. And let’s leave it at that.

I for one would think I could do a good VO for TNA’s video packages, of course I would try and read it like a Half Arsed Solid Snake with grizzly throat pronunciations and strange face pulling. Long Live David Hayter!

Keither Sutherland Image

AJ Styles’ kicks off Impact this week, and continues to use his “Evil Ways” theme for the opening of his Entrance. Something really awesome about this Theme is just how quickly it numbs the crowd into Silence. I think that is a testament to AJ’s current position. AJ had a few things to say, number one that he likes Hulk Hogan, which he has in fact come forward in interviews and said Hogan has been nothing but Positivity since he joined TNA, and he has stuck around for 4 Years, he is only looking at leaving now purely because TNA might not resign him. AJ was out to talk about Bully Ray, and this marks the first time they have actually really acknowledged each other since AJ won the BFG Series.

TNA continue to push the fact that AJ is not under contract, which I highly doubt, least if he is not, then he will be agreed to something, I am sure of it. Still with AJ having “nothing to lose and everything to gain” he declares he is “All In” against Bully Ray.

Bully made an appearance to talk back at AJ about how AJ claimed he “Hopes to Win”. I honestly don’t remember him saying that, but I’m sure it was in the script. Still, AJ arranged to have Samoa Joe battle Bully Ray in the Main Event, which seems a little odd. It’s like Bully needs to prove himself, rather than AJ taking the fight to Bully. Still, it looks as if AJ is creating a “Old School” TNA Faction, his “Band of Brothers” and Samoa Joe is at the top of that list.

Kenny King and Chris Sabin vs. Manik and Jeff Hardy

So this was a little unexpected. It did actually take me a little while to think who would be teaming with Manik, seeing as Aries was Ring-Side. Then of course it makes perfect sense to have Jeff be that guy, seeing as Manik’s “Dream Match” a few weeks back was with Jeff.

I honestly found it hard to fathom why King was in this match, least with how it ended. I for one am a big Kenny King fan, and I am glad to see him back, but he does seem to be used as a “Filler” currently. Either way, I was also surprised he didn’t have his head bandaged up from his Match against Aries, which only took place an hour or so before this one (taped on the same night) which of course led to the wound being re-opened.

A good solid match overall with Sabin continuing his “Heel Ways” but the finish came with Manik doing his front knee drop thing, and Jeff following that up with a Swanton Bomb for the Win. Sabin then attacked both Manik and Jeff, and Aries ran in the ring to attack Sabin. I was expecting a One on One Sabin vs. Aries match, but instead Aries challenge Sabin to fight himself, Manik and Jeff Hardy in a Four-Way Match. Which I don’t think is quite how it always works. And then Jeff Took it up a Notch, BAM! By making it an Ultimate-X Match, which Jeff has never competed in. So basically, both Aries and Jeff made themselves an X-Division Championship match at Bound for Glory, and poor Manik had to go along. Apparently he Agreed, but of course he would. My point was, what happens to Kenny King now? Is he just back on the Side-Lines? And why does Sabin get to be a Jerk and get Two Title Matches back-to-back. He jumped Manik one week, got a Title Match the next, and now he acts like a Jerk to annoy Three Guys, and they include him in a Championship match just to get revenge. Wrestling Logic, how I love Thee!

Book of Logic Image

One of my favourite scene’s of this week’s Impact was Hogan and Sting shooting the breeze backstage. Sting saying he has Hogan’s back, and both of them discussing Dixie Carter’s “Power Trip”.

Dixie’s assistant then hands Hogan a Watch, which he “HULK’S UP” to Tear Through, and rips the top ribbon, and then the bottom of the Box off, before he just lifted the Lid to reveal a Watch.

Though Hogan’s line of “She is worse than Bischoff… he never gave me Anything” was priceless.

Magnus vs. E.G.O – Gauntlet Match

After EGO’s continual assault on Magnus he has taken it upon himself to Single-Handily defeat them all one after the other to prove himself the better man. It’s been a running thing now to have Magnus lose and for him to take that loss hard.

First up was Christopher Daniels, who really doesn’t get much chance to Showcase his abilities, because Daniels’ is fantastic between the Ropes. After a BME Attempt, Magnus’ caught him with his Foot, and then dropped him with a Driver (Magnum Driver?) to pick up the Win.

Of course next out was Kazarian, who yet again is fantastic between the ropes. But it was Magnus with the “Kingsland Cloverleaf” that led him to a Submission Victory. Also whilst on the topic, the Texas Cloverleaf has always been one of my favourite Submission Holds, and Kingsland Cloverleaf has an awesome ring to it. So kudos for that!

And last but not least, Bobby Roode. Before Roode made his way into the Ring, Kaz hit Magnus with a Low-Blow, a good back and forth match between the two, but in the end it was Roode with an “Ankle Lock” funny enough, to which he also lay down and applied the leg scissors for the Win. It was a Blatant “Kurt Angle” Finisher, which I am sure is planting Roots for Angle’s Return. What annoys me about this is that it makes Bad Influence look Weak, and they are far from it. Let’s be honest, Magnus has just become a more “Main Event Player” since the BFG Series. Put him up against AJ Styles and Magnus comes across the Under-Dog, yet TNA is built on AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels, and Daniels has and can beat AJ, which means he has the better chance of defeating Magnus. I know the logic behind it, but still, to have them defeated for Roode to be the “Big Dog” of the Pack, is kind of Silly. Roode is the Cemented Main Event Star in EGO, but Kaz and Daniels are top contenders in their own right and more than capable of beating Magnus in a Singles Match, rather than being defeated back to back.

Either way, Magnus stood up after yet another Loss and was treated with a good reaction from the TNA Crowd, Magnus of course flipped out and through yet another Strop. Which is when Sting decided to come and calm him down.

What followed was much better than I anticipated. Magnus, after Months and Months of being called “the future” of Wrestling, obviously just fell short of Winning the “big one”. And with everyone “seeing “it” in him” he doesn’t see it in himself. The whole thing was cleverly crafted, obviously Sting went on to talk about grabbing the opportunity, and Magnus saying he fell just short of it and that Ric Flair was who put Sting on the Map, and who is going to put Magnus on the Map. Which is when Sting offered up the Challenge of he facing Magnus.

It was well done, though Sting’s “ME!” came a little out of No-Where, the idea of Magnus vs. Sting is great, I actually hope they can have a big “Put him on the Map” type of Match. I’m sure it will be surrounded with Magnus turning Heel and joining Dixie Carter, or at least turning heel against Sting. Time will tell.

EGO had an awesome backstage Segment with Kaz and Daniels singing Roode’s “Off The Chain” Song, and then dropping the Bombshell that next week they are inducting Roode into EGO’s Hall of Fame taking the spot light from Angle’s BFG Induction. For one, who cares if they have their own ceremony, two TNA’s HOF is dumb and stupid, I can admit that, and everyone can see it’s their way of trying to Grab any kind of Glory away from the WWE First. And with a Company whose owners are considering selling the business, when you’re future is unsure, why do you have a Hall of Fame?

Brooke vs. Velvet Sky – #1 Contenders Knockouts Championship Match

First of all, Chris Sabin didn’t want to come out and help Velvet, that might be because he was about to go shoot the next 118 Ad

Sabin 118

And the biggest mess of all, Brooke Tessmacher is now simply “Brooke”.  I don’t have a problem with them dropping the Tessmacher name, it’s dumb and crap and they might as well just name her “THE SLUT!” because Tessmacher sounds like a Porn Name. Her Real Name of Brooke Adams is an awesome name, why not use that?

Before the match got started Lei’D Tapa turned up, BROOKE!!! ran off, and Velvet got the crap kicked out of her. It was a good debut, though it perhaps could have done without this

TAPA Tongue

Either way, having Lei’D Tapa debut like that was Strong, sure she’s going to be compared to Awesome Kong, but I’ve always found Kong overrated. Tapa’s debut would only be better if she hadn’t already turned up in a more “Human” form via Gut Check, this kind of Debut works much, much better!

Speaking of Debut’s, we even got our first “glimpse” of Ethan, and personally, I loved it! But words don’t do it justice:

Samoa Joe vs. Bully Ray

It was a rather odd idea having this match, my thinking is they wanted to show an alliance between AJ and Joe, but if AJ leads a new Old School TNA Faction, and Bully Ray or Anderson leads The Aces and Eights, and then there’s EGO and Main Event Mafia, TNA is breaking up into Factions. Too many Factions!

Regardless, Joe is looking more Old School, which I’m sure is no coincidence, he and Bully went back on forth in a good match. In the end it was Hebner who got taken out, Joe made Bully Tap (yay predictable!), Bully got his Chain, hit Joe, Hebner saw it, Bully got DQ’d.

Bully then threw Hebner to the floor and proceeded to removed the Matt’s on the outside to expose the Concrete to Pile-Drive Samoa Joe onto. This is when AJ jumped the Audience Barrier and attacked Bully, then retreat to Celebrate in the Crowd.

Yes, AJ got kicked out of the Building earlier on in the night by Dixie Carter, which would be better if he and Bully talked, Carter threw him out, then AJ made a deal with Hogan to get Joe to fight Bully. That would make more sense. Either way, doesn’t matter.

AJ’s celebration in the Crowd is also reminiscent of CM Punk, still, AJ has the added bonus of being the Face of TNA, and issuing in a possible and much requested Change for TNA.

Hulk Hogan’s Decision

Hogan making his choice of either being a Team Player or not was the Theme for this week’s Show. Obviously the ending was what they were building to, but what it was really seemed a little dull for an entire theme to be based around. I mean Dixie didn’t really give him much of an ultimatum, nor did she give him a time frame.

The whole segment seemed to be a little flat, even with the “pay off”, but basically Hogan blabbed about how he’s not happy how Dixie has been doing her Business, but he gets it. And that her “offer” whatever the hell it was, was an amazing offer, for somebody else, and he quits.

Her offer was pretty much work with me to run things, which wasn’t really much of anything to be fair. And yes, Hogan’s contract was set to expire, and both parties are looking for him to Re-Sign but it all comes down to Money. So Hogan quitting is just a way to get him off of TV should they not come to a deal. I actually think Hogan as a new Aces and Eights President to battle Dixie would be cool. The main issue I find, is I think Hogan is a team player, I don’t know how much of this “backstage heat” is legit or not. The fact is, I think having Hogan paid to be an On-Air character is limited. A role of GM is good, sure, but he’s not Great at it, nor I don’t think he is needed, he would be better used elsewhere. Or they should have a bigger plan for him than just in the role of GM.

Still, say what you will, I would prefer it to see Hogan stay with TNA, his name is priceless in gaining any professional attention, either from Fans and of course from Marketing to Business Deals.

Not to mention having Dixie cling to his Leg down the Entrance Ramp was a great touch. Though it is funny how quickly the Audience has gone against her, and how quickly she has been reduced to a Tramp, the phrase “Take a Ride on the Dixie Train” did wonders to the Crowd. Now she’s a grovelling, clueless, rich, sleazy mature woman. But, she is very convincing on Air, and I actually think I prefer her in this Role, and going forward, that could be Pivotal for TNA.

Good things one would hope are around the Corner!

Can’t wait for Bound for Glory where they really Shake Things Up!

Till Then,

The Jobber Blogger #68 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 19/9/13

The Jobber Blogger

Well it appears my fake retirement speech last week got the attention of at least one person. I’m sure more than one person rejoiced at the idea. Regardless of any of that though, I did however make a slight claim which isn’t exactly entirely true anymore. I claimed that this week will the first from a Brand New 400 Page Writing Pad! And here on the side sits my Brand New 400 Page Writing pad, but unfortunately I used it before I watched impact, and being a soppy bugger Wrote out a letter and now it only has 399 pages left. Of course things could correct themselves as there might have been a manufacturing problem, and there could indeed be more or less pages than the 400 advertised on the front… you’ll be happy to know I have not been through and counted them all.

Why am I so tired, that’s a good question, if I’m honest I don’t think I’ve caught up with my sleep from my trip down South.. I had to go through London… I swear visiting that place even briefly is like taking years off of your life. I’ve never found anywhere I hate more and more each time I go. Ah, the joys of being a Country Lad, sitting on Sheep and throwing Poop at the Farmers. I’ve never done either of those. Though there is nothing like coming home to the Manure filled air!

Speaking of Manure Filled Air, let’s get chattin’ about this week’s TNA: Impact!

TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 19/9/13

Yup, a special date indeed.

That is all I’m going to mention on it being a Special Date. Last week was a good show from Top to Bottom for TNA, and obviously with No Surrender being out of the way they are back to the usual TV Schedule, so out with all the matches and in with Promo’s and behind the scenes Segments.

Magnus kicked off the show, first with getting beaten up backstage by Ego, but then out in the ring. He claimed to the crowd to be injured, hurt after a gruelling battle for the BFG Series Finals one week ago, asking if the Crowd remembered! It is still weird, because we all know this was filmed mere minutes after the end of No Surrender, in front of the same crowd. I guess they have to drop these “TIME MENTIONS!” into the Promo’s to solidify to the crowd that they’re watching next week’s Show, and to remind people at home what week it is.

I suspected Magnus and Roode would end up feuding to fill a Grudge Match for Bound for Glory, maybe even for a Number One Contenders shot. With Magnus so irate from last week’s interference from Ego, and the beat down before the show, he calls out anyone for a fight.

Kazarian runs to the ring as if to accept Magnus’ challenge, followed by Christopher Daniels and finally Bobby Roode as all three of them beat down on Magnus. Which is when Sting and Samoa Joe run down to help out and scare off Ego. I fully believe Magnus claimed he didn’t have his “Family” with him when he challenged Ego, also wasn’t The Main Event Mafia put together purely to stop The Aces and Eights.. so why are they venturing off into other Faction Wars. Either way, a Big 6-Man Tag was set for the Main Event.

Jeff Hardy vs. Manik

Before the match took place Chris Sabin, with now on screen and long-time real life girlfriend Velvet Sky, had a chat with Manik. Manik of course not wearing his Mask doing the whole “I’m not facing the Camera” type of gimmick. Sabin went on to talk about how awesome he is himself and how Manik wouldn’t even be the X-Division Champion without Chris Sabin’s involvement in the entire Division, let alone dropping the belt to Challenge for the World Championship.

This match was born from Manik asking Hogan if he can face Jeff, for it is a “Dream Match” of his. Which is somewhat Ironic, because as per usual Jeff and Manik do the whole Move-Counter Move impressive athleticism stuff and then have a Stand Off. Which is when Jeff decided to Pose in front of Manik, for some reason, and then applauded him, which is the funny part, because Jeff applauded Manik in a type of “this guy is good” but in reality, I think Manik might actually be better from a Technical stand point.

However the match wasn’t that long, and Jeff soon dropped Manik with the Twist-of-Fate and connected with the Swanton Bomb picking up the win.

And of course as everyone suspected, Jeff and Manik show a sign of respect, and then Chris Sabin gets in the ring to do the same for Manik, and then beats him up.

Yes, it is a bit of a “By the numbers” Heel Turn, but at least Angry Sabin could be a better Theme Song than “Hail Sabin”.

Angry Picture

Im Angry

Sure I made fun of him…. most times I mention his name, but I was actually quite impressed with Sabin’s Angry side this week. I think it is exactly what he needs to be interesting currently, after such a run of being incredibly annoying. Though it does come across as “I don’t know what to do with him, let’s make him heel, because he’s not THAT good, and he can feud with Manik for the X-Division title at BFG”. That probably sums up TNA’s Creative Writing 6 Months in Advance.

ODB vs. Mickie James – Knockouts Championship

Well this has been a long time coming, of course they were prepping Taryn Terrell for this shot, but she had to go and get pregnant, seriously, priorities?

No doubt she’s off Hot Messing it up elsewhere. And next in line is the crowd favourite, once fired, brought back, barely used and now new Knockouts Champion, ODB.

This was all to set the stage for Mickie James’ contract issues coming to a head. Her contract was about to expire, and I’m sure she is now top of the Pay Roll in the Knockouts Division since Tara has gone. Which basically means they can drop the Belt, and then try and negotiate. Which apparently went as Mickie turned down the offer and is done with TNA, but now more rumours state she is still in the negotiation process. Put it this way, Mickie James is amazing, and the best Women’s Wrestler in my opinion, not to mention how great she is with Character work. Her current Heel run has been awesome and in this match her attitude and talent shines. If TNA want to build a great Knockouts Division once more, then they need Mickie James as the Hood Ornament, Champion or not.

ODB did her own version of Hulking Up, in a much more scary manor

ODB Angry Picture

I’m Angry

The ending was a little Sudden, Mickie had full control, looking to drop ODB with a Corner Tornado DDT I believe, which was counted into the BAM! and picked up the win.

Either way, I like ODB and she is a credit to how TNA apparently want to showcase Women’s Wrestling, with Wrestlers, rather than just Models who can’t do anything. It’s a shame the Division is so scarce of talent of late, a few years back it was Thriving, and as interesting, if not more interesting at times than the Male Division.

Eric Young and Joseph Park both came out to Celebrate the Title Victory with ODB, which is when Bro’Mans hit the scene.

Yup, Robbie E and Jesse have not been fired yet, I’ve always been a Robbie E fan, I think he has great character work and great in ring skills, yet he always draws the short straw, I do understand that he is the more “joke” Wrestler, but still.

Robbie E still has an Issue with Joseph Park and challenged him to a match, but with Park wearing a Suit, it was EY who took him on. And literally one Roll Up 2 seconds later, and EY won the match.

Leaving Robbie E to challenge Joseph Park once more, and literally one Roll Up 2 seconds later and Park had won the match.

It was a little “dumb” and they could have just let them all fight, but in the end it was the Bro’Mans just outright attacking EY and Park, throwing Park into the Ring Post which busted him open, and of course he went into Abyss mode and took them both out.

And at this very moment, I would like to say “enough”.

I’m rather sick of the whole Bleeding thing now, it happens every match, and it’s been a running thing for well over a year, either develop the story, or just stop it. At this rate it looks as if they want to keep Joseph Park as a Wrestler rather than Abyss. I don’t know if Abyss is even going to turn up again anytime soon. I guess they are looking to angle these two teams into a Feud, or even potentially filling up the Tag-Team Division. Regardless, a EY and Park team is a welcome addition. Regardless of it all, they need to do something before they make ODB even angrier!

ODB Hogan

Still Angry

The Aces and Eights, or what is left of them, Bully Ray (with Tessmacher) Wes Brisco, Garret Bischoff and Knux make their way to the ring.

Basically the whole segment is the aftermath of last week’s Awesome Last-Man Standing match between Bully and Anderson. The fact Mike Tenay said there is no update on the condition of Anderson does imply they haven’t as of yet just cut ties with him and wrote him off of Television… currently. Bully put all of his praise onto Tessmacher for being the sole purpose he has been successful, and how much she has helped develop everything. Which of course gives the remaining “Brothers” a reason to step up wanting attention back their way.

It is a shame that the message of The Aces and Eights has become “nothing”, they were once an invading faction trying to gain control and over throw management, seemingly with a point to prove. But when new comers like Doc or Knux are in the mix, surely they have no personal gripe with Dixie or Hogan, more to the fact of being over-looked as Wrestlers and fighting for the spot light. Either way, it just boiled down to getting Bully the title.

One by one Wes, Garret and Knux showed off their dislike to how Bully is running the club and each time Bully turned that back on them in a controlling manor. But it was Knux who actually stood up and for the first time in a over a year he’s been with TNA, we finally got to really see him as a “Guy” rather than a number within the faction. And he’s good on the mic, I actually liked seeing him take control. More to the point it was interesting when he mentioned that there were 25 Guys in the Faction, with only 4 left (5 including Taz… if that counts?) and that is a testament to how Bully Ray runs the Club. Not to mention that they have kept Bully in power to keep the Gold in the faction.

This is where I hope they take The Aces and Eights, make it that Bully Ray only developed them to make himself World Heavyweight Champion, and the rest of the faction went along with it to keep the Power the belt holds within. But it became seemingly more relevant that Bully only wanted them to help him for his own selfish reasons. Which is why they could have Anderson return and take over the reigns as President of The Aces and Eights, and still keep them a “Heel” faction, without being complete “Bad Guys”. Knux could become the new Vice President, and they can recruit and grow. The idea behind the faction, the look, the music, it all works. It’s just grown stale, but if they play that off as Bully being selfish, it will hold on to the values that were originally created. If TNA is moving in a new direction then The Aces and Eights could be pivotal in changing Management, or pivotal in keeping a huge slice of persuasion as a Renege Faction within the Locker-room once more.

Either way, Knux didn’t back down to Bully’s intimidation, and it was Bully who stepped away from the fight.

Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez vs. James Storm and Gunner

This much “anticipated” match was the result from last week’s Challenge, but stay out of our Business segment. Chavo is continuing to build his Heel character by claiming as much as he’d like to Wipe Their Faces off the matt…. not sure quite what that means…

Chavo is apparently injured and not cleared to Wrestle, which is an interesting thing to note after turning up in Ring Gear.

Either way, Gunner and Hernandez locked horns, and I really didn’t make any notes.

It’s the usual Big Guy vs. Big Guy match, entertaining, powerful, all the usual. In the end it was a Back Breaker from Gunner that won the match. And the MDV celebrated accordingly!

Gunner The Viking

Gunner

Apparently just because Gunner beat Hernandez, that doesn’t mean they can’t still Wrestle a Tag-Match. I guess everyone has forgotten that Wes and Garret beat the Champs huh?

EGO vs. Main Event Mafia

I nearly fell asleep through this Match. I don’t mean that to sound like it was boring, it was rather late and I had finished work rather late too. But that aside, it was kind of boring.

It was a straight forward typical Tag Match, Sting got singled out, ref didn’t see the tag, everything went crazy (which was pretty good actually!) a bit of Tag-Team Wrestling then a Cheat to Win ending.

A few things that stood out, Magnus and Joe should be a Team Again, they are good together, but I doubt that will happen any time soon. Why the hell is MEM even bothering with EGO rather than just finishing off The Aces and Eights straight after they lost another member and are falling apart, that’s a good place to really ruin their alliance right?

Either way, in the end it was Roode who landed a Bat Shot to the back of Magnus behind the Ref’s back and won the match. Leaving Magnus with yet another loss after Months of being at the top of the Leader board. No doubt Magnus and Roode are entering a feud, and maybe this might be the end of the Main Event Mafia, one can only hope, because they are terrible.

AJ Styles – Dixie Carter – Face to Face

So the part of the show everyone wanted to see. It was no surprise what direction TNA were heading in with this whole “AJ Styles – Rebellious” thing, but I think it might have caught a few people off guard with what actually took place.

AJ did the usual “Day 1” rant about being here to build the Company before Dixie even got involved. And that band of brothers who helped create this new exciting aspect of Wrestling and Division, and growing Brand / Talent, was then bought out by Dixie Carter who has no idea of the Wrestling Industry and a rich father who bought it for her. That is all actually true.

AJ claimed that she broke up the Chemistry that was once TNA, and instead replaced the likes of Jerry Lynn (no big loss), Low Ki, Jay Lethal (big losses) with MMA Stars and high paid “Talent” from other companies who take a paid vacation and then leave to go back where they came from. Again, true points.

AJ then said despite what the internet reports, he doesn’t in fact have a TNA Contract. Which is when Dixie makes her way to the ring, to some Boo’s as well I might add, mainly because there is a lot of Bad Reaction to a lot of the Creative Changes within TNA, and obviously AJ Styles represents the old and the original, so he being the Face of this “change” will draw the fans to his side and against Dixie, if that’s what AJ claims.

Dixie said that she is entirely accountable, and she is sorry. And then turned that into a big Heel Rant about how AJ is only “better than Average” that is found elsewhere, and the Phenomenal One gimmick is just an illusion she herself created as a Marketing Tool. She said AJ is nothing like he used to be and she can’t even remember the last time he had a 5Star Match (she obviously didn’t watch last week). And that without her Rich Father he wouldn’t have a Pay Check, would still live in a Trailer, and as much as AJ claims this is the house he built, in reality it’s the house that Dixie Built.

AJ tried to forge a “rebuttal” but Dixie shouted to Cut his Mic, Turn off the Lights and end the show.

It was actually better than I thought it would be, but unfortunately it still comes across Scripted. The problem is, I find personally that TNA is usually either doing their own thing, or is ahead of the Competition, like The Aces and Eights (Shield) and then AJ – Dixie romance thing was also copied. However the biggest thing to happen in recent memory was of course CM Punk’s “Pipe Bomb” which was also Scripted, but the timing was perfect. CM Punk had a legit gripe with the company, they let him speak his mind (within reason), CM Punk’s contract was also ending right after the Money in the Bank PPV. So connect the Dots, AJ Styles “might have legit issues with TNA”, AJ’s contract is supposedly up after Bound for Glory. They are trying to capture that magic. I don’t think they can, because the audience knows that this is hot controversy, it was once created organically, you can’t recreate that, because people are expecting it.

More to the point, if AJ was really annoyed he could have ranted about Bischoff, Hogan, the recent Releases of Stars, Money being wasted on crap they don’t need. I do like the fact they mentioned the MMA guys, which goes to show TNA are well aware that the fans don’t care about them. But my guess is that they won’t be paying top Dollar for these guys as their contracts extend to Bellator, and to Spike TV.

So my guess is TNA are 100% behind this, and AJ Styles is in no way going to leave the Company, nor would they ever let him. All of it, my guess, is to play the internet, blurring the lines, and making Styles’ potential BFG Title Win one of leverage where he could take the Power out of TNA.

What if they let Styles turn up in ROH again with the Championship, that would be cool. At the end of the day it seems TNA are restructuring themselves, they have let go of people they don’t need currently, maybe even those who don’t fit their vision going forward, at least currently. There is talk of re-evaluating Hogan and Bischoff’s contracts, so they could easily be gone. Not to mention talk of coming off the Road and setting up base somewhere old, or new.

They obviously had plans a long time ago, and if they do it right, they could angle Dixie, Hogan and Bischoff as the heels, AJ Styles could bring in a new (old) TNA to recapture a huge audience number. They could re-brand, six sided ring, anything could happen.

More to the point, what if Dixie Carter is behind The Aces and Eights all along, or what if she pays them off to screw over AJ Styles. Or at least tries to, perhaps Bully will, and the other faction with then side with AJ. But there is ground work in place, and if they are reshaping the company, which would explain the recent lay-offs and behind the scenes chatter, some of it a work, other legit. But Bound for Glory could prove a huge changing ground for the TNA Landscape, and I for one am actually rather excited to see where it all goes from here!

Till Then!
